she startles, retreating away from his shooing hands and out into the open. but where at first glance it appears a skittish animal is running away from a scary human encounter, one who looked more closely would see she moved with a strange sort of deliberateness.

as if she understood him.

she pauses, looks over at the flowers that she could have burned, than back up to the boy with almost an apologetic air. her small paws pressed together, a child shamed.

"cynda...."

he asks her name, yet she doesn't have one. not a proper one at least. she perks up a little, the fire on her back petting down into just a faint smoke.

"cyndaquil!"

the cloncher scuttles across the cove rocks as fast as his little legs will take him. in his claws, he holds his prize. behind him are pursuers who would very much like to eat his prize- and probably him too. the hungry swarm of toxapex start to close in.

and then he finds some salvation.

he tumbles headfirst into someone. a person that isn't exactly a person. a fellow member of the seas it seems. yet he holds his prize close to his chest with a huff, protective.

in his claws is a pokemon egg. one that very much isn't a cloncher's. "clon clon!" he seethes, preparing to defend his win before the toxapex round the cavern corner. all confidence leaves him, hiding behind the merfolk in the blink of an eye.

she snores. that is a lesson learned during the squirtle's first night in the penthouse. only a few days old and she sounds like a motorboat about to blow its engine.

she rises from slumber, her preferred mattress being zoey's stomach. a bit of dried drool is wiped away with the back of her three fingered hand.

and then she's wide-awake in the blink of an eye, starting to bounce up and down on his mother's poor abdomen like it's her personal trampoline.

"squirtle! squirtle!"

it's time for breakfast, and she's going to let everyone know.
