Lihim na Pagtingin

Mayroong dalawa matalik na magkaibigan na sina Allen at Mae. sila ay nasa kasalukuyang ika-tatlong taon ng kolehiyo. Matagal na silang magkakilala mula pa noong mga bata pa sila kaya naman ay kilalang-kilala na nila ang isa’y isa. Isang araw ay inaya ni Allen si Mae na lumabas dahil may sasabihin siya sakanya na balita. “Mae, masayang masaya ako ngayon dahil sinagot na ako ni Alicia”. Tapos niyakap ni Allen si Mae dahil sa sobrang tuwa nito. Si Mae naman ay napaluha dahil may tinatago siyang lihim na pagtingin kay Allen, buti na lang ay umulan bigla ta hindi napansin ni Allen na umiyak si Mae. Pagtapos ng pag-uusap ay hindi na ulit sila nagkita ni Allen. Nang lumipas ang ilang buwan at binisita ni Allen si Mae upang kamustahin ito. Nagulat naman si Mae nang nakita niya si Allen doon sa bahay nila. “Bakit ka nandito!? Ayaw muna kitang kausapin bigyan mo muna ako ng oras para makapag-isip”. pagtapos ay umalis na si Allen. Tapos ng isang taon ay hindi parin nag-uusap sina Mae at Allen. At pag dating ng araw ng kanilang Graduation ay hinanap ni Allen si Mae ngunit nabigo ito. At pagkatapos ng Graduationg ay nagpunta agad si Allen sa bahay ni Mae at hinanap ito ngunit wala parin doon. Sa susunod na araw ay nagbasa ng dyaryo si Allen at bigla itong nabitawan, ang nakalagay ay “Graduating Student, commited suicide” binasa niya ito at napaluha siya dahil si Mae pala talaga iyon. Humingi siya ng tawad sa magulang ni Mae at sabi ng magulang ay ayaw na siyang makita doon at huwag na silang guguluhin at sinunod naman ito ni Allen pagtapos ng ilang taon ay nagpakasal si Allen kay Alicia dahil pumanatag na ang loob niya dahil si Mae ay nagparamdam sakanya at parang binigyan siya ng “sign” na ipagpatuloy na ang buhay niya at huwag isisi sa sarili ang nangyari. Pagkataposng kasal ni Allen at Alicia ay tumingin ito sa langit at sinabing “Heto na ako ngayon Mae sana ay masaya ka pa rin para sa akin, at ikaw ay hindi mawawala sa aking puso”

Different Kinds of Eye Diseases

1. Glaucoma

- Occurs when there is a typical and progressive deterioration of the optic nerve.

- Often associated with an increased pressure of the eye.

- Less common and can be caused by other factors such as injury to the eye, severe eye infection, blockage of blood vessels, or inflammatory disorders of the eye.

-Group of disorders leading to progressive damage to the optic nerve, and is characterized by loss of nerve tissue resulting in loss of vision.

SYMPTOMS: · Hazy or blurred vision. · The appearance of rainbow-colored circles around bright lights. · Severe eye and head pain. · Nausea or vomiting (accompanying severe eye pain) · Sudden sight loss.

2. Myopia (Nearsightedness) 

- Nearsighted people can see fine up close, but distant objects are a blur.

- A common type of refractive error where close objects appear clearly, but distant objects appear blurry.

SYMPTOMS: · Headaches · Eyestrain · Squinting · Fatigue when driving, playing sports, or looking more than a few feet away

TREATMENT: · Eye glasses · Contact Lenses · Refractive Surgery

3. Cataracts

- Are cloudy areas that develop within the eye lens. - Often form slowly, causing no pain, redness, or tearing in the eye - Risk of cataracts increases with age

SYMPTOMS: · Clouded, blurred or dim vision. · Increasing difficulty with vision at night. · Sensitivity to light and glare. · Seeing "halos" around lights. · Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription. · Fading or yellowing of colors. · Double vision in a single eye

TREATMENTS: · Eye glasses · Brighter lighting · Anti-glare sunglasses · Magnifying lenses

4. Astigmatism 

- Usually caused by an irregular cornea, astigmatism causes blur at all distances. - A vision condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye.

SYMPTOMS: · Blurry, distorted, or fuzzy vision at all distances (close-up and far away) · Difficulty seeing at night · Eyestrain · Squinting · Eye irritation · Headaches

5. Hyperopia (Farsightedness) 

- Farsighted people can have poor near vision or blurred vision at all distances.

-A vision condition in which distant objects are usually seen clearly, but close objects do not come into proper focus.

SYMPTOMS: · Headaches · Eyestrain · Squinting · Blurry vision, especially for close objects

TREATMENTS: · Eye glasses · Contact lenses · Surgery
