anyway y’all. continuing my streak of never posting anything ic ever, just lemme say that i love @ownhcros so much ??? like. bobbie is the best & i’m so lucky to have her.

hey,  friends!  it’s autism acceptance month,  and your local autistic mun is here with a psa! i get that purple prose is ‘cool’ and makes people feel ‘smarter’ or whatever,  but i wanted to offer a perspective that i don’t think has been considered very often:  it’s SUPER ableist!!  personally? english,  writing,  and reading comprehension are my very strongest areas.  i’m confident in them,  because the rules are straightforward,  and (for the most part, and in the most basic sense) unchanging,  and i understand how sentences are structured,  and how words fit together to form sentences.  it makes sense to me.  but you know what?  that doesn’t always always mean i understand.  because the most common trait that i’ve witnessed among those that are autistic (myself included)?  an inability to pick up on little things,  and subtext,  and to decipher hidden meanings.  when you’re all out there,  using massive words & metaphors?  it leaves me,  and others,  sitting here PANICKING because we can’t understand.  metaphors,  bunches of long words strung together to form a sentence that could be a hundred times simpler (and far more accessible)?  to many people with autism,  that kind of thing can set off a whole lot of anxiety,  sometimes even panic attacks. i know in my case,  it leaves me feeling really stupid because i’m unable to comprehend writing in a language i’m supposedly adept in (not to touch the subject of those many in the rpc who don’t speak english as a first language,  or fluently,  for that matter).  i often have to get off the dash when ‘flowery’ writing pops up,  because i just feel inadequate and there’s definitely a huge anxiety factor included in there.  i definitely don’t speak for everyone,  and i’m not saying people shouldn’t be allowed to write purple prose.  i mean,  i can’t police how people write or express themselves.  i just wanted to take a minute to point out that it can be damaging,  and pretty ableist,  and even taking the time to add a little note to your blog saying you’re willing to work with people who struggle with this sort of thing?  it could make a world of difference in the mental health & confidence of those whose brains work differently than yours.  you can still show off your smarts without making things inaccessible to others.  art,  writing included,  is supposed to be universal.  anyway  —  i just wanted to take a minute to try and offer a different perspective,  and hopefully she’s a little light on a side of an ‘issue’ that i haven’t seen addressed.  thanks!

recovery isn’t perfect. it can be thinking you’re healed for a month then falling back to square one. it’s trying again and again to make positive changes to yourself. it’s mustering all your energy into getting out of bed to go to class. it can be accidentally giving in to old habits but then putting the pieces together again after a breakdown. it’s gaining confidence and being sociable for a while then walking past people with your eyes on the ground because suddenly they scare you. it can be incomplete to-do lists and days unable to function after doing so well. sometimes there are relapses and it feels even lower than where you started. but every time you decide to take a deep breath and start again, you have succeeded. even if you have to do this a hundred times before you’re fully healed, by wanting to recover you’ve already won.

well hi guys. im a lil late but it’s still easter somewhere so here, on this blessed sunday, something beautiful happened to my son oliver queen.

after months of preparation, a lovely miss jane gloriana villanueva finally brought oliver & petra to their wedding and they got married and so they’re husband & wife now. fuckin fight me.

i dont say this enough but @ofcoldguns & @ofheatguns are two of my absolute favorite people on the planet. i’ve met so many wonderful people through rp here — many of whom i consider my closest friends — but ariel and lanie are just so special to me and i feel like i don’t ever come out and say that like i should so. shout out to these two not only for sticking by me being trash all the time, but for just being amazing people and talented writers and just all-around great. both of them really managed to make my night so much better and they didn’t even have to try. so. ariel & lanie, i love you both so much. thank you for being a part of my life. ❤️
