Sucreabeille: Siren Song
1ml dram, it looks like.
The spray of the ocean on your face on a cool summer morning, a ripe kumquat plucked straight off the tree, crisp cotton sheets drying on a line in a field full of daisies.
I'm a sucker for ocean themed scents, though this smells more like laundry sheets in the bottle than ocean air.
This is just too sweet. I get a blast of sugared fruits, followed by sugared florals. Eventually, I get a soapy note, which is not the same as "clean". It's just soap.

Sucreabeille: Lonicera
What looks like a 1ml dram. This might also be to sweet for me, but it smelled really nice in the bottle.
Rich honeysuckle, huckleberries, white musk, and tonka.
Unfortunately, it is too sweet for me, and too floral. The honeysuckle seems to really dominate in this scent. Not for me.

Poesie: Whisper Your Bitter Things
This was a free imp! I love it when they do that. I don't usually love coffee notes on me, even though I love it in the atmosphere. Let's see how this goes.
Notes: pressed coffee beans, dried clove bud, cassia bark, jasmine and neroli blossoms, and roasted vanilla pods
I feel like this would be perfect if the coffee weren't there. I can tell it's a lovely and well balanced scent....but I just don't enjoy smelling like coffee. I love the smell of coffee in the air, not on me!

Poesie: OYSTER!
Notes: grey musk, ocean brine, bitter cucumber, a twist of lemon, elemi resin, and angelica
Ooh! This is a briny, salty, scent. It's fresh but it's dirty too. I don't get any of the floral or citrus, I mostly get the musk and a hint of resin under the salt.
This would be a fantastic scent on a guy, too.
But, over time, I'm just not loving the experience. It just reads as too masculine for me.

Poesie: Rich Ghost
Notes: Iso E Super, ruby red grapefruit, rich sandalwood, golden threads of saffron, a hint of jasmine perfume, grey musk, warm amber, and marshmallow
I put this on and went "Oooh!"
The first impression is of fruit and sandalwood. I don't get the crisp citrus topnote I usually get with grapefruit, but overall, the impression is of warmth and fruity sweetness, without any stickiness.
Definitely a keeper. Might consider upsizing if I really love it, but Poesie scents tend to face quickly, so it's not really worth the cost. Also, this was expensive, $8.50 for a sample and $52 for full size.
This is a hit. The imp is enough.

Poesie: Ameterasu
This imp was $8.50, which is *expensive.* Yeesh.
Notes: golden sandalwood incense, rice milk, bright cardamom, amber, dry wheat, and sunflowers
The rice note is immediately present and very typical of this house. It is less strong and less sweet than in Madar, which can come on a little strong at first, though I do like it. This one however is much more gentle on the approach. I can smell something like wheat or the impression of sun lit golden-ness. I barely get an impression of cardamom (pity).
It's very gentle and lovely, so while I don't think I'll reach for it often, I'll hold onto it for now.
It seems that this house, with only rare exceptions, has very watery sort of scents that fade within a few short hours.

Poesie: Villa Diodati
Notes: pungent wild rosemary, fresh balsam pine, crystal clear lakewater, dry, and dark vanilla
I think I got this because the notes reminded me so much of BPAL's Sixth Veil.
This one I'm keeping. The rosemary smells wilder and fresher than the distilled rosemary from BPAL, and I definitely get that lakewater sense behind that. Hiding, but slowly coming out as the scent dries, is a hint of resinous pine. Not enough that I mind it, but just enough so I know it's there. I don't really get the sense of vanilla per se, but there is a sort of spiciness I can detect. Maybe that's the pine and vanilla interaction? It's definitely not sweet, overall, but it does give a fresh and herbaceous, if watered down, overall appeal. Very gender neutral, though the notes might read as strictly masculine to some.
It won't be something I reach for often, but it's an interesting enough experience that I'll hold onto it for now. Weirdly enough, the Full Moon at the Temple scent leaned more feminine and therefore more "me", but it was just not very compelling as an overall impression. This scent is less "me" but also a more interesting experience.

Poesie: Full Moon (at the Temple)
fragrant white rice, shiso leaf, bitter yuzu zest, hinoki wood, green tea, and lakewater
I mostly get the rice note, which is very much a stamp of this house, and lakewater. I get maybe a hint of something green.
And that's it.
I wanted something a lot more evocative, and something that was more than just "barely there." It's a very good barely there sort of scent, but it's not interesting or captivating enough for me to keep.

BPAL: Phallus Devotion
From the website: Rosewood, agarwood, rooty patchouli, spicy mahogany, nutmeg, and saffron.
I am scared of this one, haha. Erin gifted this to me, because she's a lovely human. It smells good in the decant, and musky, and like skin. It's definitely well named.
And on me....nope, mm-mm. It's too spicy, too woody. I normally really enjoy the lab's wood notes, but the patchouli and spice are too overwhelming here.

BPAL: Red Lantern
A tribute to the opium den cum bawdyhouses of Shanghai in the 1930’s. Golden amber, blonde tobacco, Sudanese black coconut, rich caramel, black currant, white opium and delphinium laced with a sensual blend of Asian spice.
This is one of the Lupercalia scents, revived in 2025 but one that gets a retour now and then. This is a secondhand decant, about a third left in the little amber bottle. I was pretty scared of how intense this sounded, but a Reddit poster has been raving about it, and when there was a secondhand swap available, I figured it would be worth the experience.
In the bottle, there is a strong sweet caramel and coconut scent that reminds me strongly of the sweet sugared rum in Wellerman. Let's hope this doesn't go sour on me like the lab's rum note does!
I can't really get anything beyond that, so I'll have to wait to see if the other notes come out to play nicely once I skin test this.
On me....I do not like this. There's a burnt sugar aspect to this that doesn't appeal. The coconut comes out swinging!
I just can't get past how strong it is either. I feel attacked by a scent I just don't love. So I scrubbed it off.

BPAL: Mouse's Long and Sad Tale
Vanilla, two ambers, sweet pea and white sandalwood
This is from the general catalogue, from the Mad Tea Party line. I don't generally go for amber, but the amber and cream in Glowing Vulva read as almost like a vanilla, I decided it was worth a secondhand swap.
In the imp it smells like a gentle vanilla gourmand.
It retains that gentle impression on the skin. It's almost a little too gentle, since it fades so quickly.
I'll hold onto it, as it is a gentle and inoffensive vanilla, but there's no need to full size this.

Imaginary Authors: O, Unknown!
This came as free sample!
Fragrance notes: Black Tea, Lapsang Souchong Tincture, Orris Butter, Kyoto Moss, Musk Balsam, Sandalwood
This might be gentle and clean, but it might be smokey floral. I can see this being something I love ...or something I hate. That's why I didn't purchase it! But I'm glad to have something to try out.
It's gentle and clean, but it kind of smells like nothing. Maybe something like a mild musk, and a hint of tea? I am not offended by it, but I don't care for it either. My impression of this is ....nothing.
I'd add it's reading a bit masculine on me.
Meh.

BPAL: A Hailstorm of Knitting Needles
Polished mahogany and black tea with a clatter of vanilla husk and oak wood.
I expected something sort of related to Antikythera Mechanism, but I'm getting more wood polish than oak, and the black tea is tannic. It's got a sort of perfumish quality I associate with florals.
Not for me. Destash.

Sucreabeille: Lineage
The full title is: "I come from a long line of terrifying women: Lineage." Looks like another 2ml bottle.
Cardamom, dragon's blood, bergamot, light musk.
This reads on me like a musky floral. Normally I'd immediately pass on something like that, but I don't hate this one.
I'll hold onto it for a bit, and see if I use it more.

BPAL: Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge Hair Gloss
This is a scent that has the forums and reddit raving. For the Shungas/Lupercalia 2025, it was released as a hair gloss, which can also double as a scented moisturizer. I had to wait two months for Ajevie to send the sample, but it was a very decent amount for an affordable price.
Cream accord, amber, teak, and lotus blossom.
I'm not the biggest fan of amber, but it isn't a hard no as part of a larger scent profile. The lab's teak, however, is always a winner on me.
Something about the teak isn't coming out as I expected it to, and I wonder if it's that hair gloss medium is affecting the notes differently than the oil. It's a really nice gentle floral vanilla impression (despite the lack of vanilla!) overall. I am especially happy with that lotus note!
I don't think I'll need a full size, but I am happy with the amount in this sample.
ETA: solid throw, good longevity, and I'm starting to understand why people go nuts for this scent. It's gorgeous.

BPAL: Shoggoth
This is also a GC scent, and came free with an order. This is from the Picnic in Arkham line.
An amorphous, radiant, incandescent scent. Ever changing, protoplasmic and primordial: white amber, green coconut meat, iris, palmarosa, Chinese peony, lime, water lily, snowdrop, muguet, lemongrass, osmanthus, wisteria, glassy musk, and hinoki.
It smells like a fresh aquatic in the imp. I have high hopes for it, even though I never would have picked it myself based on the scent description, with the amber and so many florals.
On me though, honestly, the impression is primarily that of candied lemon peel. I'm only getting hints of florals, and absolutely no coconut, woods, or amber. Unsure if I'll keep, but definitely no need to full size.
ETA: just needed to give it time to settle. It's a really lovely gentle floral and clean scent. Really lovely. Absolutely a keeper.

Siren Song Elixirs: Pirate Queen
Angela is doing my wedding makeup and also hoards perfume samples, so we did a sniff and swap and had so much fun! This is from her destash pile. 1 ml sample.
Fragrance - Sea salt on your skin, dried wood upon the shore baked by the sun, smooth sea glass and coconut husk comprises the heart of this fragrance. Hibiscus flowers add a delicate floral note to the brininess of the ocean with a twist of lime and tart grapefruit. This fragrance is an aquatic blend worthy of a sea captain.
Key notes - Sea Salt, Driftwood, Sea Glass, Polynesian Hibiscus, Coconut, Lime, Grapefruit
The coconut reads like a light musk on me. I get a hint of sea salt, and a hint of citrus, but only barely. The sweetness might be the coconut musk, but it might also be a floral note. It doesn't really read as hibiscus to me though.
This is really nice and gentle, and just a bit unusual. Definitely a keeper. I don't think I'll full size, but I'll definitely enjoy this sample.
