i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever

The best tragedies will have you thinking "I wish it could've gone any other way" and "this is the only way it could've ended" at the same time

Stories where being an audience member makes you complicit in their torment. Stories where the characters hate you for witnessing their suffering. Stories where they’re trapped by the very nature of the tale’s existence. Stories where the only way to save them is to stop watching.

I love nice-but-not-kind characters and kind-but-not-nice characters

Give me charismatic characters who know how get what they want by acting nice and build a reputation among society as a polite charmer but whose motivation is for their own gain. A people pleaser who’s nice to everyone but doesn’t actually care about anyone. Someone who very few people know is actually an asshole under their carefully crafted persona.

Give me a character who’s rude af but will drop everything to help if you ask them because, beyond their prickly exterior, they care deeply about the people around them. Someone who pushes people away on purpose but is there when someone else is in crisis. The person you least expect to offer comfort but helps in their own abrasive way. Someone who feels so much for the people around them but doesn’t show it.
