Leicester is one of my family hubs with my Mum living there in her later years until passing and my Brother and Cousins still living there.

This new blog (Koffe an Kreem Music) is slowly building, but it will, eventually, record all my music history via our own label and associates I have worked with. Many things that are missing from our website.
🎶 Jon Ben Berger - The World Gets Hurt
youtube
Jon Ben's original song.
Lyricist: JB Berger
Composers: JB Berger; Martin Sörbom
Production: JB Berger, Rhythmman Records, Uppsala, Sweden
Jon and I became close friends during our Haiti project, with him suffering from ever advancing cancer, until his death. At the start of his career he was NYC based performing under the name of Toby Ben and discovered by Pete Seeger going on to support Richie Havens at Woodstock. He relocated to Sweden in the early 1970's.
In his last period, we had brought Kim Weston to the UK for her to perform some organised one-woman shows. Kim and I were eating dinner and sharing stories one evening when the phone rang and it was Jon. I mentioned it to Kim who asked to speak with him. It appears that Jon had lived with Kim and her then husband for a year and lost contact when he moved from the US. It became emotional, and I left them to chat (and sing) together and Jon called me the following day to say it had energised him. Jon passed early in the following year.

The Godmother of rock ‘n’ roll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, delivered a mind-blowing performance in 1964, which was filmed for Granada TV’s “Blues and Gospel Train” at the disused Whalley Range's Wilbraham Road station in Manchester. Among the excited fans in attendance who traveled all the way from London to see her perform were musicians Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones.

He, with John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac, was such a big part of my teenage music scene. I saw him so many times and he was unsurpassed. RIP...

Ford Corsair 2000E, 1967. This was Ford of Britain's executive class car of the late 1960s slotting above the Cortina but below the Zephyr/Zodiac, Ford's largest UK model. The 2000E was powered by a 1,996cc "Essex" V4 engine. When the Mk 3 Cortina arrived in 1970 it was significantly larger than its Mk 2 predecessor, replacing both it and the Corsair. The colour photograph of the car show it parked on London's Embankment with Waterloo Bridge in the background, I cycle along there most days.
