i have this unrealistic fantasy in my head where if you calmly and logically explain something to someone perfectly they will understand your position and gain knowledge from the exchange. unfortunately in the real world this does not happen often

i’m moving out of utah rn. uboxes arrive today, we drive away tomorrow. and obviously i don’t want to live here anymore (there’s a reason im moving), but it’s just so incredibly painful regardless.

i’ve lived here for 6 years. and i wasn’t even in the gay part of salt lake or anything - i’ve been living in provo the whole time, home to the infamous brigham young university. but there’s something so special about existing in the counterculture of such a weirdly stratified area.

there are tons of honest-to-god anarchists and communists and trans people and so on and so forth here and it honestly makes me sad somewhat when people talk about how horrible provo is, or how all the gay-looking women here are actually straight republicans. there’s actually so much to love about this city! and if you’re walking downtown and you see someone who looks queer, they’re probably queer! (believe me, every single queer person in provo is at least a friend of a friend to me)

i’m moving to a college town in the midwest, and although i know ill be much safer and around tons more accepting people and be able to access my hrt more easily and such, the closeness that you feel in provo when you meet another clearly queer person is so special. its something i dont think ill be able to get anywhere else.
