Following book canon
When Effie is rescued and brought to 13, she is told by the medics she is pregnant. Haymitch claims it is his, thinking he is saving Effie and the child from the stigma of what happened.
The doctor says she is x weeks along, and then Haymitch slowly realizes that according to the math it is his.
He passes out.
He gets a medical bed next to Effie

okay but what if we get effie with less makeup in sotr movie? like we know she was already using really vibrant hair colors and dresses but what if she had not started covering her face in white? because the “effie i like you better without all that make up” and the “all my friends started maintainment, but I hate needels” would have so much more dept
effie using a very big amount of makeup as a mask to fit the place and not letting people see through her, her real thoughts, not letting people see that (probably) she havent get any esthetic surgery
i just can imagine haymitch who's still a child and effie who's barely an adult making all this masks and shields to protect themselves from the awful world and reality they are being forced into

haymitch and effie living together, and when effie accidentally drops anything around haymitch, he always stoops to pick it up before she can do it — “I got it, princess” — even though his knees are worse than hers, even through she’s perfectly capable of doing it herself. And every time, it reminds her of the 16 year old boy who picked up her tubes of makeup 26 years ago

it's REALLY interesting to me that, once the Capitol decided tributes needed assigned outfits rather than bringing in their own clothes or having an identity of their own outside of "district tribute" - the color assigned to District 12 was "Black" (and, yes, this could be as simple as "12 is the last district and black is frequently the 'last color' in color order") but it's still really interesting to me that Lucy Gray enchanted the capitol with her dress and her color. That, even with the memory of Lucy Gray locked in Capitol archives, the Capitol we see is known for it's color. Their outfits. Their hair. Their skin. Their pastel buildings. There was clearly some sort of cultural shift at the Capitol that Lucy Gray may well have been the inspiration for. it feels almost like a punishment, in a way, to assign the ABSENCE of color to a district whose first victor was from the Covey, a people known for their colorful names, colorful art, colorful clothes, colorful music.

although katniss is our protagonist and main character i think there's actually a much more fitting throughline when it comes to the presence of covey girls and their acts of rebellion.
lucy gray
lenore dove
primrose
i don't often see prim mentioned when it comes to covey lineage (most likely because her character is so aligned with their merchant mother in the original trilogy) but all three of these girls actively haunt the narrative.
lucy gray is the ghost whose songs of resistance endure in district 12 long after her name is forgotten. lenore dove paints her posters across the district and its haymitch's promise to her that forces him to keep going, keep fighting back until someone 'just like him but luckier' comes along to do what he couldn't. primrose is reason that katniss volunteers, she inspires a love so great that it defies the odds and brings her sister home.
they all have an immense strength but also an inherent gentleness - their love of animals whether this is lucy gray's snakes or lenore dove's geese or prim's refusal to hunt animals (not to mention lady and buttercup) - they are all drawn to creatures that are not widely seen as valuable or lovable.
they share a deep sense of optimism, each believe in the power of hope to transform one's circumstances. they each believe that a better world is not only possible but they are willing to take action to make it so. lucy gray uses her songs and performances, lenore dove engages in acts of sabotage and vandalises property. prim learns how to heal and chooses to enter a warzone in order to help people - in a world governed by violence, prim is first and foremost a healer.
and ultimately they are all taken from those who love them - they are girls frozen in time, forever filled with colour and light. three generations of covey girls, each doomed by their connection to the games.

Katniss is a singer and Peeta is a painter. They’re artists, born into a world that robbed them the joy and freedom of making art. I hope they found that joy after the war and their home was full of music and art. I hope their children never know a world without it.

"Max did the same to Ginny and Abby." no. Ginny and Abby had each other, Max didn't have anyone but a depressed drunk brother who didn't even talk to her because she HELPED him. Ginny didn't specify to Max that she (loved) Marcus, so it's not her fault. Your best friend sleeping with your brother is NOT news meant to come from your BEST FRIEND who KEPT it from you. Keep in mind, when Ginny told her she loved Marcus, Max was okay with it. The only problem she had was "why didn't you tell me". Now Marcus is friends with all of them while Max is left out, AND taking care of his irresponsible a$$. Max forced everyone to be friends with Ginny even tho they didn't want to, now Ginny is friends with everyone and is leaving Max. Big difference.

let’s just talk about joe singh yall.
- he waited for georgia for 15 years
- named his horse milkshake after her
- he went to her WEDDING
- he watched her fall in love so many times and he still stayed
- he lets her throw and talk him around in s1 and 2 its so cute
- he made her feel safe enough to be herself around him and to talk about her problems
- he was the only one there for her consistently when she was struggling the most, someone she knew she could rely on
- he never judged or yelled at her EVER
- he punched her abuser because her own husband couldn’t
- then proceeds to apologize when she finds out because he was violent
- lets her be vulnerable with him and cry in his arms
- was respectful and apologizes when they kissed because he didn’t know if she would be more confused with everything that was going on
- was gentle with her when they finally kissed (when he held his hand behind hers so she wouldn’t hit it on the wall hshdjdncj)
- literally confesses to murdering all her husbands and he said “idc” !!!
bitches don’t want men they want joe singh.

Effie: I hate you sometimes. Haymitch: Well according to this picture Peeta drew of us holding hands that's not true. Effie: Haymitch, you drew that. Haymitch: That doesn't matter.
