sketch app
I just used the sketch app for the first time. In our next project, we are designing an app that is supposed to help break a habit and we will be creating wireframes in the app sketch.
Honestly the first impression,
I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. Learning a new program such as Adobe Indesign or Adobe Illustrator can suck because it is so foreign with a diverse variety of buttons, it is a bit overwhelming! However, the Sketch app seemed to have separate buttons for every single little thing such as rotating a vector. It seemed more simplistic and easy to follow.
I mostly focused on using the vector tool and messing around with text and color. I  have not messed with downloading any plugins, I  will probably be doing that and watching more tutorials within the next couple days.

Site Analysis
One website I think that has a very successful design is Ipsy. Ipsy is a brand that people subscribe and pay a monthly amount to get beauty products sent to their house each month.
One of the reasons I think Ipsy is successful in their design aspect is because they have icons for practically everything so not only is it aesthetically pleasing but it also very effective for wayfinding throughout the site. As well, the website is very interactive...as you scroll down the site you can click on one product and choose options such as “learn more” and “about.”
The website is very intuitive. There is a side bar that has 4 main headers that are the main idea of the website. Then below the main headers is 7 sub headers that are less relevant to the customer and more based around the entire company. There is nice distinction between what is relevant to the customer versus more information if the customer is interested. The social media is made up of different icons that you can click on to take you to the social media if you want to follow it.
The website is very successful because it does not just show you the products you are receiving and about those products but it goes into much more depth. The website is very comprehensive and has tutorials on how to use the products as well as products that are similar.

Game Observation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I observed my friends playing the card game “bullshit.” This is a game where everyone has a set of cards and each player goes around in a circle where if you have the number 2 you have to put that card down and the person next to you will put a 3 and the person next to them will put a 4 and so on. The hard part is if you do not have the number that you land on you have to lie and put down other numbers without the other players catching you. If you look suspicious and someone thinks you are lying they can call “bullshit” on you. However, you can also lie and if someone incorrectly calls bullshit they have to take all the cards.
This game was very interesting to watch because it is not as competitive as it is suspenseful. Most games are fun because they are so competitive however this game seems to be more centered more around testing yourself and your instincts as to whether or not you were correct. It was interesting to watch as well because everytime someone would call bullshit the whole table would get interested to see if the person was right and once the card was flipped over the entire table would react with one another. Once I started thinking of how games really are interactive and spark conversation and fun, I could see that this game was a very obvious example. Everyone would start laughing when someone wouldn't get away with “bullshit” and get so invested in someone putting down different cards.

Infographic Final
I finished my final infographic last week and wanted to give an update on it. I was not as happy with how it turned out as I would have been, given more time to sketch out and come up with an actual idea before I started putting it into the computer. I feel like the last week of the project was very cramped and allowed me no time to experiment and fail to figure out what I really liked and what I did not. In the future I would spend much more time bringing in a design, getting critiques from my peers and then refining. I really wish more critiques had been scheduled into the project outline overall.

Infographic Progress
The project is due next class period. I feel like I am not that far off from my final design but really just a matter of getting it done. I am somewhat struggling because with the royal art collection I wanted to specify which most renowned artists were part of the collection but that is kind of hard considering there are a million pieces!
As I continue the infographic for the final I am really going to try and focus on the specific data that I want to include, I’ve got most of it down I just need to push a bit further!

Infographic Brainstorm
 HISTORY
+ I would further this topic by speaking more specifically about one event that has happened. This way I could go into more detail and narrow down the infographic.
+ Subtopics could include the royal family of England or the renaissance era.
+ The types of data could include the different marriages within the royal family, the percentage of different genders born, wars started, or allowance.
+ This topic is meaningful because it relates to an entire country and is something that relates to everybody because history is happening every day.
CULTURE
+ I would further this topic by speaking about the different aspects of culture and how culture affects our society as a whole.
+ Subtopics could include choosing a specific culture such as African Culture or Chinese Culture. I could also choose something along the lines of “the worlds oldest cultures.” As well I could choose a specific topic within the culture and how that culture treats it such as education, workspace, or living conditions.
+ The types of data I choose would be based off what subtopic I choose but the percentage of the oldest cultures, most populated cultures, wealth within different cultures could all be possibly data to gather.
+ This topic is important because culture is a large part of society and there are many branches of culture that could be explored.
TRAVEL
+ I would further this topic by speaking about the different areas of travel such as vacation spots or famous cities.
+ Subtopics of this topic could include pricing and expenses, places to go before you die, and cultural aspects of why people travel and what they can see while visiting.
+ The types of data I choose would be based on the material gathered from my subtopics such as pie charts for the different categories of expenses or bar graphs to show how frequently certain cities are visited.

+  I was drawn to this infographic because of the immense amount of vectors and numbers within the information that is presented. I think the infographic is very visually effective. The colors grab the viewers attention.
+ This infographic is communicating different facts about coffee that people would find interesting. This infographic gives a lot of data on random facts and data that has been collected
+ This artist structured this infographic by beginning with the general idea of coffee and where it is consumed the most and then continues into consumption and coffee types and prices. This artist separated the different thoughts by hierarchy and making some facts larger than others and separating them with a rule.

Design Manifesto
The details in the world around me ignite me. A burst of energy, a feeling of renewal as I find something to finesse in the small aspects to make a better whole. As I design, I find a calming effect in being able to perfect the things that I can control.
While I find great joy in aesthetic beauty and that is a large portion of why I love to create, that is not my soul purpose. Design is a way of thinking and an outlet for my creative mind. I find a sense of relief in knowing that I have made something better by conveying meaning through my designs. Every design I make begins with a strong foundational concept that drives my journey through a project.
Design is seamless with society and looks effortless despite the immense time consumed by innovative thinking.Creative art and design gives a voice to social issues and sparks conversation about important controversial topics.  Design surrounds us and the power of a strong design placed within in society can not only have the power to influence people but to also trigger the need for change.
A strong, good design is made up of components to form one great whole.
Good design is not something done by one singular great mind but yet an experience of collaborative thinking of all great minds alike.
Good design has a purpose and can visually communicate effectively in order to give viewers an experience.
Good design leaves a lasting impression that remains beautiful for decades to come.
Good design helps make the world a little more beautiful.
As a designer, I feel that is my responsibility to ensure that the work I am creating gives purpose as well as leaves the world a better place than when I started. As a designer, I promise to always respect the power of design and create only what I believe to the best of my ability to be good, powerful visual communication.
