When she smiled, Jake smiled. It wasn't something he had any sort of control over. If Sapphire was happy, then he was happy. It had always been that way and he suspected it always would be. "I shouldn't have walked away before you had a chance to do-... whatever that move would have been." His brow contorted in confusion for a moment before he moved past what he had said. "I missed you."

She tried and failed to fight off a smile when he stood. God, she was so fucking selfish... She didn't care. "No, it's okay. You don't have to be sorry, I-- I mean, it was my move first, right?" Sapphire shrugged a little, tone verging on teasing-- "You're always cool, Jake."

Jake couldn't help but smile when she made a show of thinking over her response. If summer had taught him anything about Georgina Sparks it was that she lived to be dramatic and, much like it had been in said summer, it was very easy and natural to play along with her. "All very fair and valid points. Buffy really did like their big beefy foreheads, huh?" He laughed, something else that was easy around her. "If I'm being totally honest... I was always a bigger fan of werewolves. Team Jacob all the way."

"Oh--- excellent questions as per usual, Jakey Jake," Georgina grinned. She made a show of thinking it over, um'ing and mm'ing, before clapping her hands together triumphantly. "I've got it! Okay, the vampires of yesteryear are still hot but they also rely on nostalgia. I mean, a classic is a classic but you can still forget about it. They were a moment in time but does that mean I want to see another fugly forehead in this day and age? I think no. Then they went through a lot of phases, they were too much, too often and yeah, totally. I was over it, for the most part. This is like... resurgence. What do you think?"

"No. Sorry, no. You don't get to turn this around on me like I did something wrong." Jake shook his head in disbelief, packing his things into his bag as he did. "I don't care how you feel in comparison to your sister; pretending to be her to get my attention was messed up and, honestly, she's no better for going along with it when you decided you were bored of me."

Jake scoffed at her saying she had tutored him. His grades hadn't improved and the whole situation had messed with his head to the point he'd ended up failing a test! Even if she had helped him, it wouldn't excuse what she had done. "I never preferred your sister, Latife. I asked her for help because I thought she could help me. That was all. My bad for being seventeen and unable to tell identical twins apart, but no one made you lie to me."

"Yes! Yes, I lied to you!" Latife was so fed up with this, everything. "You have no idea what it's like to be the lesser twin, less pretty and less smart." She crossed her arms. "You have no idea what it's like to like a guy, knowing he prefers your sister over you!"

"I tutored you, didn't I?" She actually had to study hard to make his grades go up herself. She wasn't a bookworm like her sister, and she certainly had it in her to get good grades if she wanted to. But her sister was better than her in every way, so she hated her. She hated her for being the perfect version of herself.

"Won't argue with that." Jake replied, letting out a small laugh before also nodding. "Yeah. Yeah, I do." He shoved his laptop into his bag and pivoted in his seat. "Will we stay here or did you have somewhere else in mind?"

"Don't worry, Tripp doesn't have my fashion sense he could never pull off my clothes." Juliette smiled at him nodding. "Yeah, trust me I get that. Want to drink?"

Jake made an active choice to ignore his comment about Sophia. This man lived for getting under the skin of others and he wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of thinking he could get under his. He coughed out a small laugh, shaking his head. "I'm not really into making deals with literal demons. What do you want... Will?"

"Why so hostile, Jacob? I wasn't the one who published the untold tales of your perilous little heart. For what it's worth, you and Sophia would have been just as, if not more, sickly sweet together." He smiled over the annoyance the 'Will' brought. "Now, now. That's the story of your life... Not mine. Although, if you like, I could make it worth your while-," he held out his hand as if to shake- "On the house."

Jake could feel his heart thud against his chest when he heard her speak and, for the briefest moment, he couldn't have cared less about what Gossip Girl had said about him. "No, wait." He got to his feet a little awkwardly, "I'm sorry for running off last time. That wasn't cool."

"Yeah, you got 'Parent-Trapped'-," Sapphire replied. She held her hands up in faux surrender after, "Stay there, don't worry. I'll go this time." Not that she was moving.

"Nice to know it wasn't just me." Jake sighed and waved a hand. "It's whatever, man. It's not like it was a long thing and it was years ago. What's one more lie for the pile?" He was well aware of how miserable he was sounding these days, but he really couldn't force himself to lighten up. "What about you? Gossip Girl hasn't come for you yet, right?"

"Wait, what? That's what she was saying? I'd given up on trying to figure that out after the third read-," that was a lie, Nate hadn't got past reading it more than once. Whether out of confusion or guilt, it was anyone's guess. "You okay, man?"

Jake scrunched up his nose at William's use of his full name, taking a much needed deep breath as he prepared for whatever this monstrosity had to say. Honestly, he hadn't been expecting him to bring up Jesse. Bold of him to dare after the implications of that gossip blast. "We all want things, Will. Doesn't mean we get them."

William had taken the seat across from Jacob, watching him take his sweet time to close the laptop. You could all but see the steam leaving his ears as whatever was in there worked overtime. William took another sip of his drink before replying-- "Yes Jacob, that's precisely what happened. The best of both worlds, no? Anyway, enough about you. I want to discuss your heinous little friend, Jesse Walker."

Jake smiled at her joke, amused by the visual. "If you are, I'm going to take it as a personal attack." He sighed and shrugged a shoulder, "It was years ago, so it's whatever, but yeah... sucks to be lied to. Feels pretty shit."

"Are you doing okay? It sucks to be lied to by someone you think you can trust." She had definitely been there before, more then once. "No twin here, I could be Tripp in a wig though."

Jake couldn't stop the one syllabled laugh escape him as he turned his attention to her. "You're sorry?" He shook his head in disbelief, "That's really where you want to take this conversation? Whether or not I can tell you apart isn't the issue here. You lied to me."

It had been high school when this had happened and, based on clothes and how they presented themselves, Jake was now quite capable of telling them apart, but he didn't feel like he needed to defend that fact. "I needed a tutor and you-- what? Thought it would be funny to trick me?"

Latife overheard the conversation and sighed. She shouldn't have ghosted him, but she simply got attached which meant she had to dump him - plus he was into her sister Nilay, not her. Never her.

"I'm sorry-" She stood up and swung herself into the chair opposite of him. "But then again, you can't even tell who I am right now, do you?"

Jake: AGAIN!? Jake [few mins later after listening to voice notes]: Next time, please open with 'Not another skiing accident FYI' jfc... Jake: What do you mean 'our' baby? You're not trying to buy Alex's baby are you? Jake: Jokes! I'll call an Uber now. Damn that poll was on the money. Good luck with mom LOL Jake: See ya soon DAD 👨‍🍼

Logan: hye Jake, I need you to come meet me here [ Drops location pin to the hospital ] Logan [in voice note]: "So, Alex is having her baby. The baby... Baby, baby-- Am I saying 'baby' too much? That doesn't sounds like a real world. Any- Anyway, I need you to come meet me because um, yeah, I think it's our baby. It's our baby. We're having a baby." Logan [in voice note]: "I have to call mom."

"I'm gonna go with yes. I'm feeling pretty catfished, right now." How could he have been this stupid? Sure, they were identical, but was he really so easy to trick? "You are Juliette, right? Not some secret doppelgänger here to ruin my day?"

Juliette nodded her head as he spoke. "Yeah, I saw that." She sighed a bit as she looked at him. "Does that count as being catfished?"

"Agree with you. One hundred percent. However..." He paused for effect, "Do you mean that today's vampires aren't hot or that you, personally, have stopped finding vampires attractive? Like are you still into Spike and Drusilla and nostalgic for the good ol' days, or are you over it entirely?"

Jake sighed heavily and closed his laptop, speaking to the person nearest to him through the hand that rested on his forehead. "That Gossip Girl blast about me... She's saying I was dating Latife when I thought I was dating Nilay?"
