The Winchester brothers saved the baby during their last hunt on a nest of vampires. The vampires were killing people in Akron, Ohio. The bloodsuckers gutted the girl's parents and her elder brothers, but she survived. Because while saving her from the monsters, her mother managed to hide her youngest daughter, wrapped in a blanket, under the bed. Dean found her there.

Dean and Sam named the girl Charlie after their beloved friend. After their beloved little sister, whom none of them ever wanted.
