There’s nothing more irresistible than a great pair of heels. Whenever I’m feeling blue or under weather I head off to the nearest mall for some retail therapy and invariably end up in my favorite shoe/ bag/ belt store. What can I say? I love my accessories.

And I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. True fashionistas know that it’s the accessories that turn an outfit into a look. Even haut couture falls flat unless accessorized right and footwear plays a HUGE role. I mean can you imagine pairing a formal ball gown with beach sandals or your favorite ‘little black dress’ with Uggs?

Your choice in footwear can make or break a look; which is why I love Friis & Company shoes (In Swedish skor). Somehow, they seem to come up with a pair of shoes to fit my every mood, regardless of whether I want flirty femininity, power dressing or pure seduction.

Take for example their delish lavender Zebora T-bar sandals. I literally lived in those the whole summer. The cute little bow in front makes it trés feminine while the open design is perfect for showing off your summer pedicure. Pair it with some slim fit jeans or capris and a peasant top or with your favorite sundress and you have the perfect summer look.

Somehow the contrast is just too perfect for words. And I’m planning on splurging on a pair of dark grey Roskas for my very own as soon as I get my next paycheck. The statement heels and the rivets around the edges give these shoes a truly fierce look and I plan to pair them with a pair of skinny jeans and a jacket.

Finally, when it comes to more formal looks, I’m a diehard fan on pumps. I truly believe that the right pair of pumps can turn even the most boring of outfits into something special so these shoes are my go to wear when I want to impress without seeming to try too hard. I would definitely recommend getting the blue peep-toed Xina pumps since they are perfect for both day as well as night wear.

Dark colored jeans are usually combined with lighter tops. White, light blue or light green goes well with dark colors. If you choose to use dark colored tops, try to use one that has some light colored embroidery to lighten it up. Since denim is a heavy material, it should be paired with heavier shoes like those made of leather. Choose a shoe color that matches the color of the top you want to wear with it.

A well-tailored blazer matches well with a well-cut pair of jeans. Pick a blazer in a classic color like brown, blue or gray.

Different designers use different sizing with their jeans so the best way to choose a good pair is to try it out at the boutique and buy a pair only if you are truly satisfied that the fit is good and you are comfortable in them. Alterations may be needed in most cases. Only then will you be able to obtain that perfect fit that you yearn for. Do not go in for a faded look. They look worn out and disgraceful. Try to go in for a snug look with denim that is combined with lycra or spandex.
