so i just had a thought: the damsel and the razor are the same kind of princess

not in the sense that you'd approach them the same way, the damsel wouldn't cut you into a thousand itty bitty pieces (unless it'd make you happy!) and while the razor does enjoy a mutual subtext to the murder, she's still gonna kill you

rather, they both seem like very simple princesses, ones that to us and the voices seem one dimensional

the damsel, though she has quite a bit of complexity as best seen in her continuances in chapter 3 (the grey and happily ever after), is at her simplest in her own chapter

the very natural sequence of asking her what she wants to do when she leaves the cabin can easily lead to her turning into the deconstructed damsel, a self parody, a bad drawing version of herself that can't think at all

the razor though can think just fine, right? she'll respond to our flirting if we give her the look, she'll get bored if we ask her too many questions, and she's even capable of lying to us

or is she? because every time she tries to lie to us she says something like "whaaat no I wouldn't stab you even if you were within stabbing distance, I don't even have any blades up my stabbing arms!"

the razor might play it for slasher jokes where the deconstructed damsel plays it for existential horror but neither of these princesses are any good at talking, they're so transparently about the one thing they're about (making you happy vs making you into bird sushi)

much the same way as deconstructed damsel, the razor isn't about there being more to the main theme of the chapter. for damsel, looking for more than the simple story of love you've concocted ends in failure and for the razor? the idea of there being more than pain and the stabbing and death to the princess is an idea only really entertained by the voice of hero who holds out for a little while longer that there must be a way for you to not have to kill each other (a shame he's wrong). there is no scene where she contemplates doing something else earnestly, this is the funny chapter of stp, this is the one where everything you try is just part of this one big joke on you that started the moment she CAME BACK TO LIFE for no reason other than to screw you over

thus the rest of the story is just about you trying to screw her over, and failing, again and again and again

it's about brute forcing every method, obtaining every voice, and in the end nothing works anyway because the razor is straightforward and piercing, she won't stop for flirting, deception, running away, or any other strategy the voices try

before we even get to that point with the razor though, we already see that transparent brute forcing of the story earlier in both: the questioning phase

in both we spend our time stripping away the facade, in deconstructed damsel we ask her the same question over and over of what she wants and it destroys her and horrifies the voices because we're increasingly convinced there's nothing more to her than the facade

she isnt really a person to us at that point (of course, damsel is a person and this is just TLQ's perception shaping her but i digress)

in the razor, she'll make the most transparent excuses ever for why she DEFINITELY isn't planning to stab you all the while cheated points out how stupidly obvious she is and while she doesn't change like how the damsel does, her facade similar becomes thinner and thinner before she just decides to stab you

and where deconstructed's art style degrades and becomes... pointier

the razor also becomes... pointier in a more functional, stabbing way
