there's also how in satbk the counterparts to galahad and lancelot are silver and shadow (galahad is lancelot's son in most arthur mythos and you can unlock galahad after defeating lancelot in the satbk game which implies the two are connected) though one of the sonic writers had confirmed that galahad and lancelot being silver and shadow counterparts doesn't mean that main silver and shadow are connected in any manner

Super stupid fucked up idea: Silver is the end result of Neo’s numerous attempts to collect Mephiles’ data. The amount of semi-corrupted data he kept getting from him partially corrupted his body so he was forced to eject the corrupted parts in order to survive. Then his Liquid Metal took the form of a baby hedgehog and that’s how Silver was born.
