i saw this as different ways, the danger of all digital age and technology. one the top is instagram where because of it i feel like surgery on faces and bodies was pressured on women. there was a time where everything was becoming enhanced which now has repercussions to this day where either that’s still the basis or people are regretting it.
now although we think technology js getting people’s privacy is worsening. and then with better technology comes the competition of it along with war. the pressure to be the biggest and baddest country.

your interpretation of certain homeworks and your key to little details such as the faces and stuff you would do was cool. i think in certain ways it gave your work dimension and a caertaib wonder from the audience when you would add those small details.

Final Project:
The first art movement that I took inspiration from was NYC 1980's. The colorful figures in the middle of the piece are inspired by Keith Haring's art, and the overall composition of the piece reminds me of his work. I am inspired by Keith Haring and I love all of his artwork, so it was an easy decision to make something inspired by him.
The second art movement in this piece is Abstract Expressionism. The black abstract faces that I drew with pen are inspired by my previous artwork from the abstract expressionism assignment, which I thought looked super cool so I used them in this piece as well. I like the idea of abstract faces because you can look at the piece for a long time and find something unique everywhere you look.
The final movement I used was Breakthrough Contemporary Artists, which was our most recent assignment. The frame of faces that surrounds the piece and the abstract faces both represent the idea that everybody is unique, and nobody is perfect. This was also my message for the last assignment, so I decided to continue that message in this piece.

your use of what i think is puff paint or something for your work to create designs and circles was interesting.

I chose to do this artwork to demonstrate the societal pressures to become the perfect version of ourselves. I made the human-heart figure to demonstrate that society encourages people to be tough, trendy, and sweet at the same time. Finding balance within these realms can be hard. I also included flowers, leaves, and makeup/sparkles to highlight the struggle between natural beauty and trendy beauty. Society expects men and women to look naturally beautiful, yet encourages beauty-enhancing methods.

this might be a bias post but i have had the opportunity of working with carolina on a regular day. I’ve seen the amazing things she could do with so many different mediums and it was amazing to see what she got to do behind the digital scene. even with her recent art show it’s just great to see everything this year.

Final
For my final piece I incorporated Fauvism, Surrealism, and Impressionism.
I used Fauvism by using vibrant colors throughout the piece. I used reds, oranges, and yellows on the lady, while using calmer tones on such as purple, blue, and greens in the background. I use wavy strokes in her hair to show her happy energy in contrast to the calmness of the background.
Surrealism was used by me making normal objects with different ones. I made a shirt into a snake and a banana as a phone. Eyeballs for the clock and flowers. I want to show how casual the character is while interacting with this odd environment.
I used Impressionism by trying to put the image in a certain point of view. I wanted to make it feel like that the viewer's point of view is as if they're interrupting the lady during a phone call. To immerse the viewer into the image.
This class was so much fun, I love learning about the different styles and movements.

final
i decided to take multiple interpretations/perspectives on the final.
i decided to incorporate keith harings nyc theme by taking one of his “female figures” and using that as my basis. in his original art the woman has a female sign where her vagina would be but i thought that was going to take away from my art. but i chose this one instead of his other pregnant woman ones because it looks rebellious
for the feminism aspect i decided to put on my figures what it means for feminism now for me. i think there’s a part of being a woman i enjoy where everything is all flowers, roses, and beauty. which i love. i love feeling soft and in touch with my nature feminine side. but then there’s also that mirror side where i wish i didn’t get to be apart of but it’s the danger to feminism. i decided to put caution where women are typically sexualized with or from, yes even feet. so the breasts, mouth, and private area are all covered with caution. i decided to do that because women are beautiful, hence the flowers in the exact same place in the other image, but we are also valuable and fragile and people tend to try to take advantage of our bodies or voice. so please proceed with caution.
i then wanted to kind of also add pop art but i decided to mirror half the figures to one another. i know that’s not typically done but i decided to do that because for my feminism portion of the piece. i think mirroring them instead is a different interpretation of what pop art is. o especially decided to do it that way to show the contrast but also to show how repetitive woman are viewed that way.

Feminism

i decided to use as the color background a mix of pink m, blue, and purple. And then I put flowers and kisses because it’s a lip mask product. These are things that are associated with feminine attributes so i decided to put it together. And then I decided to put “the product that saved the internet and the world”.
Many times people don’t take care of their lips but we use our mouth everyday. And because of apps like TikTok creating attraction for products such as this we might not have used back then is showing how it’s changing the world. Our mouths are one of the most important tools we use so why not protect and save ourselves with this product.
This song is significant because it is the queen. But beyonce is such a powerful figure that when this album released it was post Jay Z cheating and Solange beating him in the elevator. As beautiful of a woman as beyonce is why would a man like that cheat. Men really have the audacity and beyoncé shows that time and time again. especially since she had a couple of miscarriages due to the stress of his infidelity.
This album created phrases like “becky with the good hair”. Till this day we don’t know who is becky with the good hair. Also it brought back the concept of lemonade braids for black women.
and then just imaged the significance of this album if she had divorced him. but overall we know beyonce to be this powerful women who unfortunately has gotten cheated on. she’s never one to speak out about her personal business so instead she gave us this powerful album that she, and other women, are bigger than men and what they do to them.

this is for a beyonce concert. the cowboy hat with tassels and the cute jeweled see through crop top over a dress or with a maxi skirt.
and this is just a childhood song that i have been feeling lately.

i decided to do a colorful background. along with the concept of stairs and the sparkler in a firework shape. to demonstrate how women are powerful and always climb to the top. which is what you wanted me to do, create more abstract shapes through things from the magazine.
and then i cut a woman in half and put other powerful women although they’re not the same woman, it’s still women.

name: jaeline
i’m a senior sports media major from bronx, ny. my favorite color is pink. one of my favorite things in this world is my dog hazel. she’s a red nose pitbull, and don’t let the allegations get you. she’s a shy lazy dog. besides that i love sports, i’ve played them almost all of my life. with all of that i feel like i’m a pretty creative person but i don’t get to show it that much so i’m glad to be enrolled in this class.
i’d like to think of myself as a simple person yet with many layers. i like to think of myself as an introvert turn extrovert when i’m comfortable with you. so i feel like because of that people may receive different perceptions of me. but like i said there’s many aspects to a person so who knows. like i feel like at times i can be such an interesting funny person but then i think i can be that boring girl that stays in and plays her switch. so yea idk.

SELF LOVE FINAL
Conceptual Choice: I decided to go with a setting of a rollercoaster. Like your prompt stated I’m in my early 20s, where a new part of life is starting again. I once saw a video where someone questioned why are there so much lows with the amazing highs. And they proceeded to provide an example of when a patient flat lines. When that happens the monitor just shows a flat line, meaning that they’re dead. So instead of putting a flatline which more on the sad side, i decided to do a rollercoaster or at the setting of an amusement park. Similar to a flatline a rollercoaster has its ups and downs. I decided to take what would be ordinary object and symbolize them into other things. At the end of the rollercoaster sometimes you enter a tunnel or enter through a certain path to end the ride but you never know what is really behind all of that. So that’s why the tunnel is labeled with the question mark. And with the clouds I decided to put a crown on the clouds because of the saying, keep your head above the clouds and you know, I feel like you should always think highly of yourself, and as like a king or queen, and that’s how I think of myself. I also put in the clouds happiness and then a line over everything, like "happiness over everything" because at the end of the day you could do whatever you want but if you’re not happy and you’re just trying to like push through it, you’re eventually gonna get burnt out and not see the beauty and happiness in life.
I don’t decided to put as like the coaster is self a heart, because love, whether that is when you’re in love with someone or showing someone love, one should always have love surrounded in their life. I had them put like bags of money on the ground. The money bags are kind of laying a foundation/plotting until a "money tree" grows. This representing success in the future as well as the patience that comes with growing.
Artistic Choice: For my mediums, I use watercolor painting, and some paint markers. I decided to go with like a realistic approach to this with the colors instead of how vibrant I usually am because life is getting like more realistic as we get older, and as we sit into the real world after I graduate.
Class Connection: Some thing I decided to do kind of that we learned class was like the transformation of object into another one, or like morphing of an object with another one just so we can like easily represent what you want compared to describing it as much as we would now.

SPREADING LOVE FINAL
Conceptual Choice: Some thing I decided to do was represent that my mom is the whole world to me. One person I say that I feel like would give me their world, deserves the world and is my world is my mother. she’s always there for me whenever I need it, and I feel like no matter where I am or what I’m doing so always pick up the phone. I just feel like my mom like really is someone has been supportive of me through everything and throughout life. At the bottom, is a mirror because a lot of people to say, like my mom is my twin and also like we’ve sometimes bump heads up that I do see a lot of me and her. As I am still growing into adulthood, I feel like it’s kind of cute because you know eventually it’s like the belief of when you’re getting old are you start to take care of your parents now I feel like my mom is starting to become me so it’s like a mirror and one another. Some thing I will say that I feel like my mom is is like beautiful and like she takes pride and beauty, and like flowers and things like that. my mom always feels like no matter what you should always see the beauty in life, no matter how hard it is, and always as sometimes gets it could be annoying, but she’s always the optimistic person in my life.
Artistic Choice: I decided to go with watercolor and acrylic paint for this, because I think painting was more of a realistic representation of a kid like drawing, and I feel like no matter how old you get your always gonna need your parents.
Class Connection: I decided to relate to this piece from our zodiac unit. My mom is a Leo and the relationships they have with my sign from all of the female Leos that I have met have been positively influential. I feel like all of them have shaped my life in a way that has impacted me into becoming the woman that I am today. Also kind of to the idea that Leos think the world revolves around them and my mom and her sister who is also a Leo, very much believe that.
