bad news and good news about my spinoff 😅

so! as i've mentioned to a couple people, i was aiming for september 6th as my start date for my spinoff, since that's shortly after it starts taking place in real time. and while i've been working on it for years, there have been huge breaks within those years where i barely worked on it or was focusing more on research/preparation. this year i finally started actually drafting it (instead of perpetually outlining) and realized it takes me quite a while to write each episode, partially because of the way they're formatted, and partially because i'm out of practice. there's also STILL more research stuff i wanna do that i don’t wanna half ass. i've started stressing out about having it ready on time, and when i get too stressed i just freeze and can't work on it at all, which means i've barely gotten anything done in the last two months.

all that being said, i'm going to push my spinoff back a bit. tragically the first season has both a halloween episode and a christmas episode, and i'd like to line those up with the actual holidays, which means i don't just wanna push it six months or so, and am most likely pushing it a full year, aiming for late august/early september of 2026.

onto the good news! or consolation news i guess. first of all, i'm gonna try to have my first two seasons fully written by the time i start posting, which means it's muchhhh less likely that i'll have to do sudden hiatuses or that my release date will be pushed back again. i'm hoping to stay well ahead the whole time i'm releasing it.

second of all, i think i need to practice writing with something that i'm less of a perfectionist about, so when i'm too stuck to work on my spinoff, i'm gonna write my 'jasper loses some of his memories' fic, which i spent my entire senior year study hall outlining lol. it's a more serious fic, but definitely still lighthearted with a lot of humor, and i'm having a lot of fun working on it again. i'm hoping i can post that this fall so you guys still get something from me this year, but i have no deadline for it. feel free to ask me questions about it!

alright i think that's all, i realize this is annoying, especially with how much i vaguely talk about my spinoff, but i promise it will be much better quality if i allow myself some extra time. love you guys 💕💕💕

skylar not having her pink streaks in ef was evil but i AM obsessed with the idea of the streaks slowly fading after a long time of not having her powers. maybe skylar chopping her hair off so she doesn't have to think about it. kaz and oliver sitting on the edge of the tub with her helping her dye them back in so she can hang on to that part of herself. maybe kind of a metaphor for her not needing her powers to be skylar storm

tbh if they were gonna treat jasper's queerness and crush on henry as purely a joke then there should've been an episode where he dates a girl who looks and acts exactly like henry. bonus points if she’s played by jace norman in a wig
