edit: this is primarily addressing minor systems!! any system can be put in danger by doing this, but minors are especially at risk.

this point has probably been made 700 times already but can we please stop normalizing putting every crumb of alter information into your intros/descriptions. i'm really tired of seeing people list their trauma holders & let their littles roam free online & minors listing their sexual protectors publicly, PLEASE stop putting targets on you. yeah your intro or pk description might look pretty but someone is going to take advantage of that information eventually and/or publicly blast you.

^ this also applies to triggers btw, even positive ones. you may think you're preventing something, but if you tell the internet not to do something then they're just gonna do it more, especially if your triggers are more obscure/"weird".

i say this as someone who used to do all of this too, i thought it was proving a point and showing the fakeclaimers that i really AM traumatized!! yeah no it doesn't work like that. don't try to prove yourself to people who will never listen to you, protect yourself please.

Hiccup is a prime example of that specific type of autism where you were ostracized for being different as a kid then later in life struggle to empathize with other people and are better at relating to and connecting with animals.

Like that scene when they were on the ship they found the dragon eye in??? They see the bones of dragons and Hiccup is visibly disturbed and upset that Toothless has to be seeing this, then like less than a minute later he pries something out of the hand of a human skeleton and has little to no reaction to seeing it other than 'ew'

so flint lockwood is neurodivergent

dude i didn’t even have to look at him for that long, just one look at that sweet little face and i KNEW. his special interest is science (specifically experimental science focusing on inventions), his comfort item is his lab coat, he isn’t very socially adept, he’s constantly squirming around!! like he stims by flailing his arms and legs!! he interacts with the world differently from everyone else and doesn’t have many friends bc of it which is a common thing autistic kids have to deal with. ALSO dude his literal responses to everything, like-

flint: “Were you gonna kiss me back??”

sam: “Why don’t you find out?”

flint: “Cause I don’t wanna.. go for it and be shut down again-”

LIKE HE DIDN’T EVEN CATCH THAT THAT WAS AN INVITATION, HE JUST WANTS TO MAKE SURE IT’S OKAY- HE WANTS A YES OR A NO!!!

god I am so in love with this character- also his ability to think outside of the box is BEAUTIFUL, he makes connections that neurotypical people wouldn’t

and for the less appealing parts of autism, it seems like he doesn’t remember to take care of himself- both emotionally and physically. he isolates himself and doesn’t really brush his hair- though that isolation could be a result of years of torment for his different outlook on life.

also he’s so hyperfixated on science that he doesn’t really pay attention to anything else- i think that’s why meeting sam was such a nice experience for him, she shared the same passions and didn’t judge him for his special interest. people who don’t judge me for my hyperfixations are immediately my best friends- i can’t imagine how relieved he was to meet someone who cared enough to listen, considering where he grew up and who he grew up around.

on that note i stan flint lockwood and i’m probably gonna rewatch the movie exclusively for clips of him making sweet little faces and stimming
