Been thinking about potential conflict ideas for the last of us part 3. hear me out. (spoilers ahead)

It’s 3 years after the events of part II.

Ellie gets back to Jackson trying to get Tommy & Dina's forgiveness. Ellie lied to Tommy and said he killed Abby in Santa Barbara. Dina's mad at Ellie for leaving the farm. Maria (Tommy’s) wife was hesitant in letting Ellie back into the community given the past issues resulting in Joel and Jesse’s death and Tommy’s injuries which made them eventually divorce. Reluctantly she does with pleas from Dina who is still angry at Ellie for leaving the farm. Dina still hasn’t forgiven Ellie and doesn’t want her around JJ (Now 5 Years old). 

Abby and Lev are dealing defecting from WLF & Scars. The Rattlers are disbanded after Ellie released the prisoners and shot up everyone at their base looking for Abby. We find out the Rattlers had a few former fireflies in hiding trying to restart the militia. Throughout the game we learn Lev is also immune like Ellie. While strung up at the beach Lev gets bit and didn’t turn.

Former scar new cannibal (a new faction from David’s group in Part 1) Lev’s mother (whom we thought was dead and made it off the island) tracks them down and kills him while the last of the fireflies are trying to develop a vaccine at a small clinic they developed not far from Catalina island. Abby kills her. Now with everything they need except a test subject Abby leads a small hunting party back to Jackson to kidnap Ellie because she is the only other person with immunity. This particular day Ellie and a new male character (who likes her but doesn’t know she’s gay) were out on a patrol. 

The “new” Fireflies cause havoc. Burn the community to the ground thinking they’re hiding Ellie. In the madness they grab Maria, Dina, Jesse’s Mother, Seth, Tommy, and Cat (Ellie’s ex who gave her the tattoo). They hold them up in the center of town execution style asking about the whereabouts of Ellie. They force Cat to reveal Ellie’s secret that she’d been immune this entire time. After this information is revealed they kill her. The gunshot alerts Clickers, and other infected to the area causing a frenzy. In the chaos, Abby muscles JJ from Dina as ransom. Many are dead. 

This new character and Ellie return to a burned down Jackson where the citizens are angry at Ellie. Maria excommunicates Ellie because Dina has already left (while injured) to go after her child. Tommy on his deathbed is angry at Ellie for lying about killing Abby when she didn’t. The townsfolk hate her for causing so much destruction every time she’s around. 

Part 3 takes us on a journey of Ellie chasing down Abby to finally put the nail in the coffin. At some point Ellie and Abby will have to fend off the infected together (in a situation similar to Joel Tommy & Abby) and perhaps a few factions in the way as well. This brings an opportunity to humanize the two over a dad joke about Ellie surviving two bites, one from infected and one from Abby taking her fingers.

At the end Ellie must decide if she’ll kill abby at gunpoint in front of JJ and Abby’s baby from Owen or if she’d finally give her life “purpose” on the table and develop the vaccine to save a bitten Dina and restore society as a whole. This triggers flashbacks of Joel in the same situation and shooting Abby’s dad in front of her, then of Abby killing Joel then gun back in her hands.

Perspective

I’ve had this on my mind for a little while. So I’ve really been blessed to have the people in my life here. I have a lot of close friends. People say keep your circle small but mine just isn’t. I have a lot of people in my life that make an impact. I’m really good at making friends. You gotta be one to make them. None of this is the point but I’m past the point of no return for me to hit backspace so fuck it we ball.

I have a friend who just broke up with his girlfriend of ten years fiancée. They were supposed to get married last year but a deadly contagious virus got in the way of all that. In that same time I too have gotten engaged to be married (there’ll be a post on that someday soon). It’s just crazy because their families are super close. They have godchildren together. Aunts uncles parents siblings, all just as devastated as the couple themselves. I just listened o my boy vent because I’m also friends with his lady. In fact I met him through her. I don’t try to lend advice because I truly don’t think people need it. They either know what they need to do or have already made up their mind and just want to vent. In this case, I have a bias because I’ve seen too much from both scopes and I wouldn’t dare try to be a catalyst to any decision making here. Nor can I relate to what they’ve been through (yet).

Just been thinking about my own situation and what it would look like if I lost the woman in my life. I know for a fact I’d never try to do life with someone else ever but I truly do have the best in laws in the world. Started a little rough but we all love each other. My father in law and I have had some really deep conversations about being the head of our households. My step father and law (whom I’m probably closer with) has done the same. Shit we hoop every weekend and I used to train his son, my new “big” little brother. My fiancée is the eldest of 7 kids between 2 marriages. I have a lot of responsibility being their eldest and sometimes cool big bro like I am for the people in my generation from my parents. Just thinking about how it sucks for everyone and if things didn’t work out I wouldn’t be the only one mourning our failed partnership. Moral of the story is obvious. Hold on to your people not just for love and responsibility but because it’s not just about you.

revisiting this at 30 after a pandemic and lockdown 40 lbs later. 

I was buggin tryna be romantic. I’m down 20 lbs but I need to get down more.

I want to worry about being out of shape because we did nothing but spend time together for months.

And eat. Together.

I missed out on my favorite uncle’s book release because of a beef that’s mostly my fault. Buying and reading it has given me some long needed peace. Truly, I’m mad proud of him.

He went back to school and we graduated the same year. It was inspiring because I had to go back and finish late after 3 year bout of depression. 

Fast forward a year or two and some childish words were said and I took it and ran. It’s weird having to be more mature than the people who raised you and I didn’t wanna be so I violated because I’m grown. My uncle ran to his big brother (my dad) and complained about his side of the story. So that set me off even more. My father comes to me like wtf is going on and I flipped. I called my uncle who didn’t pick up the phone so I left a voicemail that probably shouldn’t have been documented. I saw so much red I have no idea what was said except for the words “I’m a grown ass man and you running and telling my daddy? That’s bitch made shit. He don’t pay my bills. Call me back if you real.”

My father did talk to him and tell him that I’m grown and if he cared to repair the relationship he should have spoken directly to me because that’s how my father would have moved. My stubbornness absolutely comes from my mother but my integrity is born of my grandfather who ironically is me and my uncle’s namesake for our shared middle name. Afterwards, my pops was in the middle offering olive branches and I wasn’t tryna hear it while my mother enabled my behavior. 

Contextually I wasn’t the one in the wrong and he tried to apologize and I didn’t make it easy for him. Still haven’t. We just hit each other up on birthdays and nothing else. I think I’ll repair that relationship before I get married. When I first got engaged and begun working on my guestlist I contemplated leaving my uncle off the list. Obviously that’s led to some beef between my father and I whom I simply respond, you already got married. You literally can’t tell me who’s coming. He knows he can’t, but out of respect and honor of my parents I think I’ll do the right thing. No one should be angry at someone for 3 years. 

Did I learn how childish the people who raised me can be? Sure. I learned a lesson I won’t forget there. Growing up is realizing you do have to raise your parents a little bit ((all due respect to the village that raised me) Your parents include your extended family as well for sake of context). I turn 30 on monday. I still have a tumblr. I almost tweeted this but I remembered that wasn’t the forum for that so here we are back at my diary, creative outlet and inspiration when I’m uninspired.

I think I’ll post a long winded thread of thoughts on monday because I’m existential. See you then.

‪5 years ago yesterday one of my friends invited me to turn up with his friends for a birthday and I stayed in. He died in a car accident that night. I often think about what might have happened had I said yes or convinced him to hang with me that night.

Wrestled with PTSD of survivors’ guilt.‬ I miss him dearly and often find it weird how he was so ahead of his time in maturity in a way he’ll always seem older than me. Granted he was a year younger. I find it weird how hell will never age past 21 and he’s always been someone I look up to. It’s weird how I spend my days trying to remember his face and his voice without going on his Instagram.

I always knew that tomorrow isn’t promised, but I definitely learned it that day. Let your loved ones know that you do. It’s never taboo to go to therapy.

Just some loose thoughts.
