like studdenly that part of the moon is invisible instead of just being in the shadow

Hey so, really didn't wanna make this post but

It's super likely we're gonna be short on rent this month. Wife's last paycheck came in today, & we're prolly gonna be about $500 short. We're good on food, thanks to food stamps/food bank, but a little of that will be for gas, since she & us both have to find new work.

Our household is 4 humans:

Us - physically disabled/chronically ill, haven't been able to work for over a year & a half, currently trying to find new work through staffing agencies & government services, but everything is likely going to be too slow to get any kind of paycheck or financial aid in time. Not to mention any work we do find is going to be less than ideal & just make our health worse, since we're still in the beginning of getting treatment. We're also trying to get on the waitlist for disability, but that's an even longer process & we're unlikely to qualify since we're married.

Our wife - former mechanic, with dual bachelor's in History/Business. She's been chronically ill for the last few months, something we're still trying to figure out. Her direct bosses were more than willing to work with her, but corporate management got impatient & basically fired her. She's looking for new work but the loss is hitting her hard. She's also applied for unemployment but the application hasn't been approved yet.

My brother - fresh out of high school, kicked out of the family household because he came out as bisexual. We took him in because there was literally no one else. He's not on the lease & needs to be as soon as he finds work, but that's another $250 none of us have. His living situation was… not ideal before, & he needs a lot of personal help to find work, something which we don't have enough time to do.

Partner/roommate - another partner & roommate who lives with us, also because her old family kicked her out (& also not on the lease). Also severely disabled, the only income she has is food stamps & blood plasma donations. We're also trying to get her help to reapply for disability; but as anyone knows, that's a long & difficult process. Her last attempt several years ago was denied; it's likely she needs a new application.

What happens if we can't pay rent ontime?

We're asking for more information from our landlord, but we're likely not going to be evicted first thing. Even if we do receive an eviction notice, WE HAVE RESOURCES. Unfortunately, they don't activate UNTIL we get that notice. Very helpful.

If worst comes to worst & we do get kicked out, it will likely be VERY BAD. None of us are "fully functioning/capable" individuals, a lot of us depend on specific equipment & setups in the apartment, & almost all of us are on a variety of very necessary medications. Everyone here has a mental health situation of some kind that will be made a lot worse by losing our apartment. We don't think it will come to that, but it's still something that makes everyone here super anxious.

"Selenium hexafluoride is a corrosive gas... Exposure to selenium hexafluoride can cause irritation of the respiratory airway, skin and eyes. Exposure to high levels can cause severe skin and eye damage and accumulation of fluid in the lungs, and even death... Selenium hexafluoride is a corrosive, colorless gas at room temperature."

[Conclusion: While Selenium Hexafluoride could have caused severe pain and sudden death, it is unlikely to have caused the decomposition that was observed to occur within such a short timeframe. A further catalyst for this reaction must have been present. This is further indicated by the visibility of the gas.]

[Hypothesis: A fast-acting microscopic lifeform is also present in large quantities. Said lifeform would corrosively feed on organic materials but also subsists in the environment created by SeF6.]

[Potential problems:

1. No lifeforms detected in Entity Emma's scan. Possible solutions:

1a) Lifeform scan was only accurate to macroscopic lifeforms.

1b) Lifeform scan filters out all microscopic lifeforms, given that bacteria & viruses are likely present across this world if the simulation is accurate enough.

1c) Lifeforms possess an unknown mechanism or biology to hide themselves from results of scan.

2. The Niko formerly known as Naix was wearing clothing. Said clothing showed little signs of degradation. This confirms that the corrosive agent could not have been a simple acid but poses an additional problem only if Naix's clothing is not wholely made of synthetic materials (eg. polyester).]

[Possible avenues of research: The phosphor shrimp breeding pools in the Barrens are likely to be the source of any microscopic lifeforms. Samples will be required to prove/disprove hypothesis.]

[ALERT: Clothing sample brought back by Entity Emma may be infected by this lifeform. While it may be dormant outside of its natural environment, said clothing should not be interacted with except by remote drone or inorganic beings in a hermetically sealed environment. Biohazard suits recommended for direct handling by organics. Observe typical UV & other microcontamination cleansing protocols in airlock. Safest course of action: immediate immolation.]

a voice from the window commands. Rowie obliges, & his sensors detect a blast of searing heat above him.

A scorching red gout of plasmoid fire strikes the the outstretched arm, melting the top layer of dermis & causing the starfifh to shrink away in pain.

Rowie looks up to see the head of a still-smoking Kelvin climb through the window. [Thank you], Rowie says.

Kelvin finishes climbing through the window. [You required assistance. Others should be on their way. Recommendation: Evacuate the apartment. I will distract the creature. My cats will assist.]

Rowie nods & heads for Jaye's room.

Within the room of the apartment, a rift has appeared.

The rift begins to glow. Something is making its way through…

Zzz... *snort* Huh? Oh shoot, I overslept. Rowie! Rowie, what day is it?

A voice from the living room calls out. [It is April 1st, the next morning after you went to sleep. You did not show signs of another coma, so I simply let you sleep in.]

Well, that's a relief. Hey, any chance you can help me into my chair?

Again, the voice called out. [Unfortunately not. I am... occupied. If you are capable of joining me, you will see. There is not presently any danger but it is... concerning.]

Intrigued, Jaye took a few minutes to lever herself into her wheelchair & roll across the hardwood floor of her bedroom out to the living room. What she found was indeed concerning.

Rowie dodges under the arm attack with ease and reanalyzes. Seeing the ineffectiveness of his previous attack, he decides to try something else. Bracing himself against the wall, Rowie pushes off into a sideways leap, utilizing his left oar like a spear. It manages to stick halfway into the hard flesh of the Starfifh. While holding on, the creature SLAMS Rowie into the wall, making him lose his grip on the oar.

[Hrrnt. Minimal damage sustained.]

Something else moves in the corner of Rowie's vision, & he spares a look towards the open window on the other side of the room.

[Observation: Is that... a cat?]

A pair of cats are standing next to the other wall, watching the battle with interest.
