Wanted to let people know that I am not dead lol

I ended up taking a bit of a break from Wicked Game because I've had some very intense writer's block for Chapter 11. It's about halfway written, and I mostly know how the second half will go, but putting the actual words to paper has been like pulling teeth. So I set it down for a while and have been working on other things

I do think I'm going to embrace the slightly chaotic update schedule, especially since my interest seems to have me making a lot of progress in short periods of time and then several months pass before the next batch of chapters comes. Updating monthly isn't super feasible for me at the moment (even though I really do want it to be), so I'm just going to roll with whatever pacing my brain and life allow. Thankfully, my notes process for Wicked Game has allowed me to pick up where I leave off when I do put it down for a whike, so I'm not abandoning it any time soon. (So sorry to anyone invested in my old fics as a teen, I did NOT have a writing process)

I do have other smaller projects, both for Bowuigi and for other ships and fandoms, that I'd like to post as well, so you'll hopefully see more of my writing in the future, even if it isn't Bowuigi

As for Bowuigi, you'll definitely hear from me at least in October. I'd like to have Chapter 11 done by then, plus I do have another oneshot planned. I have a couple other fic ideas in mind, one being especially prominent in my brain, but it is still very heavily in the brainstorming phase

idk if this is a young fan thing or new fandom culture but some of yall think fics are abandoned way too quickly. a few months or a year or two is not unusual to go without a fic update. sometimes fics take longer to write, other times writers have rl events, or maybe there's multiple fics and one gets more priority. there are tons of reasons for fics not to be updated every week or every month. it also isn't uncommon for people to come back and update fics after a number of years—ive read updates that took five, or ten years. people's lives change, but they still want to tell their stories. personally, i never consider a fic abandoned unless the author has said so; though if it's been a few years i manage my expectations. but a last update being a year ago is... generally not a sign that a writer has abandoned their fic

Recent AO3 Fic Scraping

I wanted to make a post about the recent ao3 scraping, as I myself am heavily anti-ai and found out that I was included in the scrape. For the small bunch of you guys who like to read my writing (thanks :)) but I am putting my fics only for registered users. My fics are still going to be out there, but this means you have to have an account to read them.

This honestly sucks. Writing and storytelling has always been something that you are able to share with others, and the fact that more and more authors have to hide their fics from their community defeats the main purpose for many people. But right now, it seems like that's the only way to prevent your fics from being stolen, so I encourage authors to set their fics to register users only, and for readers to create an AO3 account (while it might take a while, the fics will still be there!!) I'm sure the author you're reading from would appreciate it. Also, as many people have mentioned, now is definitely the time to interact with authors as well!!

I'm tired of people who think art, writing, and music are "worthless" or that the people who pour so much time and effort into their craft are "easily replaceable." Its honestly kind of a selfish statement. It's a hobby, a craft, and for some it's a job. Just because you may not see the value in it, doesn't mean that it's acceptable to steal other people's work and ruin the experience for everyone.

Sometimes I do ship something and it's not unpopular its just that fanon harbors enough popular misconceptions to make the content frequently unreadable. So I will be like "can I have my ship please" and the internet will go "sure! here are a thousand results!" and I will go "is it actually my ship or is it some guys who are basically totally different characters in all meaningful ways that someone is having masquerade as my blorbos?" and the answer is yes often enough that I give up

AO3 has been scraped, once again.

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.
