I just spent an undisclosed amount of time listening to every audio reading in the jb reading series thing, and I regret nothing. Not a damn thing.

If you’re in a joining mood: the Jaime/Brienne subreddit has announced their latest challenge, which is: MYTHS.
Read more here—fics for the challenge are ā€˜due’ (roughly) August 15.
I also want to plug r/jaimebrienne more generally: it’s a chill place to discuss canon and our favs. AND it is responsible for re-introducing me to fandom and fic, so it’s got a special place in my heart.

As always I’m day late and dollar short, but here is a recording of me mumbling through a short scene from my darling knitting au, Traditional Knitwear of Tarth.Ā A little bit under two minutes. Cover art from talented @gemikanxiii Thank you for organizers in @jb-reading-series, this was surprisingly scary!

Hey JB fam! Hope y’all enjoy the reading!

~
The dawn brought sunless clouds, cold, and the wench, kneeling at the riverbank.
He should have left. Collected his traveling water elsewhere. Forgot the water, took Honor, and rode away. But he went to her.
Her cloak was finally off her shoulders, but she hadn’t let go of it. It billowed in the stream, red ribbons flowing from its dark cloth, flows of crimson clouding in the deep blue waters. Tully colors. Tully blood.
The cloak was not the only thing soiled, painted with the proof, the guilt. Red drowned her everywhere, splattered her tunic, swamped her hair, crusted her collar, mottled her waist. She was focused on the cloak for now, though. Pushed it in the water, dunking, but the red still clung to it. Would never wash off.
Jaime’s cloak had been soiled too, eons ago, before he burned it. He had chosen the white one instead of the red, and white never hid blood, never absolved any who would sully its purity. Never coddled his stain.
Brienne was too blinded by unshed tears to notice him. Her face was crumpled, innocent eyes bright with pleading as she scrubbed the cloak, but it was unyielding, and stained, and merciless. She let out a choked breath, held the cloak close to her, eyes lost and pained, and she had never looked so young.
Jaime knelt beside her, cupped the waters between them, and grazed it on her bloodied neck. She shuddered at his touch, but did not pull away. Jaime washed her. Washed the redness of her neck, the stickiness of her hands, the dried clumps in the dull straws of her hair. Cleansed it, all of it, until it clouded away with the rest, and there was just her, now. Just Brienne of Tarth.
Brienne did not move. Just gripped the cloak, trembling, and when he caressed her hair and pulled her to his chest, she broke.
Jaime held her. He held her as her chest heaved, and she buried her tears in his heart, and her nails dug into his arms, and his cheek lay across her head. He held her as she mourned, agonized. He held her until he knew she truly understood what he had said in those baths, and that there were no men and women like them, only them. He held her until she was silent.
ā€œI loved her,ā€ Brienne whispered, after the quiet.
ā€œI know,ā€ Jaime said. He had never loved Aerys, but still, he knew.
Her breath was warm against his chest. ā€œAre you leaving, still?ā€
ā€œThe road to King’s Landing is shared with yours, until a crossroads some hours away,ā€ Jaime said. ā€œI would travel with you, until then.ā€
ā€œAll right,ā€ Brienne said. Then, eons. Silence. Birdsong and sighing waves, rustling leaves. The strange smallness of her in his arms, head on his chest, warmth one with his. Horses and sweat and the coppery scent, wavering from her.
And the smallest whisper, bloomed against his neck. ā€œForgive me.ā€
Jaime stared at the river, Lady Catelyn’s blood fading with every flow of blue. Then he unraveled from her, turned, left, and when her sobs swelled again, he did not look back.

For @jb-reading-series! Sorry to be late!
This is a bit longer than the parameters, sorry–I am bad at choices! It is also a first take that’s mostly unedited, lest I spend the whole night doing a million different takes and reaching diminishing returns. All hail the actual podficcers and audiobook-recorders who do this so well! And all hail all of you who’ve recorded your work for this!
This is a scene from the middle of my little J/B Some Kind of Wonderful AU, You look good wearing my future. Thanks to @dame-lazarus and @agirlnamedkeith for organizing this!!

A huge thank-you to the organisers, this was immensely fun.Ā  I admit I was nervous in the beginning but I absolutely loved doing this.Ā  :DĀ Ā
An apology to anyone listening…I’m sorry I talk so fast.Ā  The more excited I get, the faster I go.Ā
And yes - I made voices!Ā  ROFL
I’m just going to go and laugh at myself now.Ā  :DĀ Ā

For the @jb-reading-series This is a short scene from my storyĀ Marred by Memories. This recording is mostly narrative, very little dialogue, though the story in its entirety has much more J/B dialogue. This story is a hurt/comfort fic exploring events directly after the Battle of King’s Landing. All of you are absolutely amazing and so brave to put your work out there!

For the JB Reading Series! @jb-reading-series

From My Fair Maiden Chapter Six: Poor Professor Lannister for the @jb-reading-series!!
I apologize greatly for my butchering of a British dialect, but I’m much better at it when I’m not also trying to sound like a dude šŸ˜‚ Also, I picked this convinced it was a 3 minute scene tops, how the heck did this turn into an 8 minute track?!!?
(This is a peace offering because it’s been a month of me yelling at the next chapter of this story to write itself, and it hasn’t listened. )

This is my submission for @jb-reading-series! After my failure to get decent audio last night, I decided to try again, and this is the result. It’s fromĀ Hold Me Tight (To Ward of the Nightmares), which I just posted earlier today. I’ve included a transcription below the cut if anyone would like to use it, as well. Enjoy! :D

This is for the @jb-reading-series ! It’s an excerpt from chapter 6 of possess the powerĀ which is a crossover? fusion? It’s a fic borrowing from Thor: Ragnarok (mythology, for the most part)Ā and blending it with a Westeros setting/narrative (honestly: it mostly started as an excuse to play with Brienne carrying Mjolnir, and all the things that go along with that (⚔⚔⚔) and it then kind of… expanded, because it turns out I have Feelings about Things.)
And this is the fantastic piece I reference as inspiration: Thor!Brienne by @ayofandomthings
Its been so much fun listening to the recordings that have crossed my dash so far, I’m super excited to catch up on the rest! Thanks so much to folx who’ve shared/will share (!!) and many of thanks to the organizers for setting this all up! šŸ’•
Also I mutter this in the introduction but sorry I can’t do voices…!!

Here is an excerpt from my Much Ado About Nothing AU One Foot in Sea and One on Shore for the @jb-reading-series
In this fic, Brienne is a cousin to Sansa and living at Winterfell when Robert brings his court north to forge a betrothal between Sansa and Joffrey. This passage is Brienne’s first interaction with Jaime as the court arrives, though she already has a history with him and notoriously holds him in low regard.

Hello, Readers! This is an excerpt of my fic Souls to Hear for the @jb-reading-series.Ā In this scene, Jaime and Brienne are inside the hollow hill, looking for Podrick.
You can read the fic here, if you wish:Ā https://archiveofourown.org/works/19885741Ā  I’m new to tumblr, so I haven’t figured out how to hyperlink the fic to the text title.
Thank you to those of you who put this together and also posted work. I finally tackled Audacity to do this and look forward to listening to the collection.

Hello, Nire here!
This is my contribution to @jb-reading-series. It’s an extract from Chapter 4 of A Beauty By Any Other Name. It’s been pointed out that I can’t not read this fic for the Solstice Reading, since Brienne here is an audiobook narrator. Please ignore the awkward paragraph where the word ā€œanythingā€ appears multiple times in short succession. How that escaped my notice upon editing… well.
Context: Jaime and Brienne don’t know each other at all in real life. However, Jaime listens to a lot of audiobooks while making art in his free time, which he posts on his blog under the name of Goldenhand. Meanwhile, Brienne narrates a lot of public domain books and uploads them on the internet, where she adopts the pseudonym Rohanne Storm. He finds her audiobooks, he likes her voice–A LOT–and he drops her fifty silvers on her ko-fi tossacoin.
Which leads to her e-mailing him, then him replying and reassuring her that 1. he’s not a creep looking to get into her pants, and 2. he thinks of her as a muse.
Which brings us to this scene. Extract under the cut if you want to read along!

For the @jb-reading-series I read the entirety of first one shot from The book of love is long and boring (But I, I love it when you read to me) which conveniently run around 4 minutes exactly, the reason audio is longer is because I kept talking excessively before and after, as I do.
Repeated warning: I have an accent, I’m not a native speaker. It shows.
