Buckley’s Heroes Book Design by Transformer
“Buckley’s Heroes is a publication designed to celebrate the rich history, many achievements and clever people – past and present – that make Buckley Systems the successful company it is today. Having recently rolled out a bold new visual identity, this brand book aims to fill the large, tight-knit workforce with a sense of belonging, pride and unity. Featuring visionary statements, infographics and dramatic product photography, the publication is a unique, fun and visual way to present the brand’s values and commitment to innovation.”
Transformer is an Auckland-based design studio founded by Nigel & Anita Smith in 2002. Their tight-knit, multi-disciplined team is brimming with energy and ideas. They take their work seriously but they have a lot of fun doing it. Show & Tell over a team lunch has become a tradition and they like to get a little competitive with their morning tea and birthday cake-offs.

Branding for The Penny Drop Cafe by Pop & Pac
“Inspired by the site’s context, a name and conceptual vision was developed by the graphic design team for an experience not before seen in this area of Melbourne’s East. Pennies provide inspiration throughout; evident in brass menu finishes, the shapes of business cards and coasters, and use of circular elements. Bill folders are reinterpreted as leather wallets. The result is a comprehensive suite of collateral, including custom typeface, menus, coffee cups, stickers, hoarding and signage.”
Pop & Pac are a graphic design studio based in Melbourne, Australia. Their combined passion for all things design has seen them traverse the Australian and UK creative landscape for over 20 years. Along the way they have honed and enhanced their design and creative powers. With experience in agencies that include large international corporate branding giants and local boutique design superstars, their solutions are strategic and unparalleled due to their meticulous craft. Their clients range in scale and kind from hip eateries and boutique products to complete brand implementations for large multinationals.

The Art of Iain Stewart
In the words of the artist Iain Stewart:
I rely on instinct a great deal and endeavor not to imbue any false grandeur to the choices I make when working. The lion’s share of my work is done alla prima as my real struggle in painting is to capture the initial vision for any given piece. I am most often motivated by capturing a definitive lighting condition and how it influences shape and value rather than faithfully representing the subject as witnessed. Watercolor is uniquely suited for this task as “light” is reserved from the first brush strokes and must be protected throughout the painting process .
The underlying narrative in my work is not based on any theme in particular but but quite simply how “place” is inhabited and used daily. I often use remembered atmospheric and lighting conditions in my work and would say that I paint from life and memory simultaneously. My watercolors are not only a translation of what I see, but more importantly, an expression of how I choose to view the world.
