You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. Bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.

one of my favourite pieces of obi-wan trivia is that when anakin was little, he was so prone to fucking off and leaving the temple without warning to go do crime that obi-wan literally memorised every possible fact there was to learn about the illegal competitive racing economy on coruscant so he could figure out where anakin was on any given day and pull his little ratboy padawan out of whatever dumpster he was using as his race car that week

Star Wars: The Clone Wars | “The Gathering”
“The heart of the lightsaber, the crystal is. Focuses the Force from the Jedi, it does. If Jedi you are to become, enter the crystal cave, you must. Trust yourself, trust each other, and succeed, you will.”

I LOVE THIS MOMENT A LOT. Cal has been through so much up to this point, this is after we’ve seen the Order 66 flashback and understood just how bad his trauma over that is, this is just after he came back from the Zeffo tomb on Dathormir where he’d had such a terrible vision of Master Tapal blaming him for what happened and we  understand that was actually Cal blaming himself. He flings himself back onto the Mantis with the lightsaber broken in his hand, distraught and broken, voice shaking as he tells Cere that he could have done something, he should have done more.  She, too, is trembling, you can hear it in the way her voice shakes as she talks, and she tells him the full story about what happened with Trilla.  How they brought her into the room after Cere had been tortured into giving her up to the Empire, how Cere tapped into the dark side and murdered everyone in the room but Trilla.  How she still struggles with the dark side because of it. But all they can do is get back up and move forward, to find a purpose to walk towards instead of giving up.  She tells Cal to get up, they’re going to Ilum and he’s going to build a new saber. Just before he leaves, “You will be tested.  I don’t mean just here [on Ilum].  Every Jedi faces the dark side.  And it’s very easy to fail.  We will always struggle.  But that is the test.  It’s the choice to keep fighting that makes us who we are.”  And then she gives him her lightsaber. “I guess it’s about time I find out who I am.” is Cal’s response before setting out. So the entire trip into Ilum is the Force making him confront these things about itself, just as it’s been doing for Younglings for a thousand years.  That’s why the Jedi go there, that’s they they design their test, The Gathering, around it.  That’s why Cal references The Gathering when he’s there, talking about how beautiful this place used to be. Because we’re understanding that Cal is finally finding out who he is, he’s facing the parts of him that are hard to deal with, that will allow him to finally face Tapal’s vision in the Zeffo Tomb and be at peace with it.  He has to see himself as the youngling he once was, the version of himself that he blamed for not doing more, for not being enough, and see that version of himself helping him back up, helping him move forward. He has to repair his connection to the Force after it was damaged five years ago, he’s been doing that step by step, but to finish it, to take the last step towards the next stage of being a Jedi, he has to repair his connection to himself. The Jedi teach that to reach the Force means you have to reach inward–that’s why the trailer for the game ends with Cal hiding on Bracca and saying that he has to never reach inward to touch the Force.  Because that’s precisely what he has to do by the end of all of this.  He has to face himself, just as every Jedi before him as had to do, to be tested and find out who he really is. That’s the Jedi path and that’s why Ilum rewards him with the kyber crystals meant for him, because he finally reached back to the Force and to himself, and learned to move on, to let the darkness in him go.

The Jedi Path
STRUCTURE OF THE JEDI ORDER Like armies and governments, the Jedi Order follows a hierarchy to aid in the flow of command. Tough we are all equals in the Force, the more senior members offer an expertise that deserves respect by those who have not yet achieved such a station.
Jedi Ranks
Jedi Initiate The youngest members of the Jedi Order. They achieve their rank when they are old enough for individual instruction, which for humanoids can be as young as age two. Training occurs in the Jedi Temple under the guidance of the staff and using the resources in the Archives.
Jedi Padawan Initiates who, at the age of adolescence—twelve to fourteen standard years or so—are chosen by a Knight or Master for an apprenticeship. Their training largely occurs offworld.
Jedi Knight Padawans who have passed the Trials and are no longer bound to a Master. They are free to travel the galaxy in the service of the Order, and to take on their own apprentices.
Jedi Master Those who have trained a Padawan to Knighthood or have demonstrated the deepest understanding of the Force and the Jedi Order and joined the ranks of the Jedi Council. Grand Master is an honorific bestowed on only a few members

while we read books about the beginning of the path of Obi and Qui, as a master and padawan, I decided that it would be symbolic to draw a pack with them <3 it turns out that Obi was still a glutton in his youth, but Qui-Gon is always unchanged (although his growth and formation is also a very interesting thing!) p.s. and Obi-Wan is constantly blushing and sweating… maybe it’s from malnutrition.. xDD

You know whats fuckinv hilarious? When your eyes are covered by a hood
Tumblr media
You can’t see shit.
So when the Jedi are going all swooshy swoosh with their lightsabers with their hoods over their heads they’re relying on the force to be aware of there surroundings because the can’t actually see.
They’re using the force to be extra and dramatic af while they slicey slice their opponents. And Luke Skywalker with his Chanel Boots is no exception. He is the prime example.
Tumblr media
In the temple that is literally what they teach their younglings. To sense their surroundings in the Force without actually seeing it. Here in Attack of the Clones:
Tumblr media
They really start them off young to teach them in their How To Be Dramatic 101 class. Today’s lesson is how to deflect a blast without looking. Next week we will be tackling the Dramatic Robe Drop™ with special guest teacher and Dramatic Robe Drop™ master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Speaking of that extra bitch what was the first lesson Old Ben taught innocent young Luke?
Tumblr media
The same fucking lesson.
Of course the dramatic bitch himself who trained Anakin fuckin Skywalker would think that the first lesson that the son of both Anakin and Padmé would need to learn is how to be deflect blaster shots without looking so he can look badass with a hood on. Yess it is vital for him to know. The fate of the galaxy depends on it.
Like look how innocent farmboy Luke who has to help out at the farm tomorrow went from this:
Tumblr media
Then trained with Obi-Wan and Yoda and became
CHANEL BOOTS LUKE with fashion sense
Tumblr media
Honestly. I blame Yoda and Obi-Wan and their influence on him.
