Ollie and I
Looking back you can always think so clear. It’s right there for you. But if you can start somewhere down the line and think... “nothing is perfect” you can always start at a new beginning.
Just wished I would have incorporated more of a daily journal of my life. @ Work I was keeping a journal for things that where happening there and not always want to re-live those kind of things.
If I would have kept a journal of my life I would have notated my child's progress. Every day is something new and amainzg and it so much that I doubt myself or Cheryl will be able to remember. Thus, having a journal will keep track of things.
Well beautiful Ollie is only 6 months and some small change today (six days and counting ) so there’s still a lot to discover. One just has to be in the habit of journalizing their life if they intend to blog or write a journal. You just have to do it. Well, we do have lots and lots of pictures due to modern technology.
But today 10:18 am he lays on  the dressing table ( Strapped in) where i sometimes feed him his bottle because he can hold it on his own. He started holding his bottle on his own about 4-5 months in. It was like his hands naturally knew what to do. He does from time-to-time take out the bottle and put it back or even drop to which then I get it.
His table is across from my table where I’m sitting and writing the blog/journal and having what's left of my cold coffee. His eyes daze away as he drinks his bottle of colic choice formula. The table supports him safely and is well padded and armed with whatever he would need.
We’re listening to Phish album Lawnboy. I expose him to different types day-to-day.

Updated this track with some melodic sounds in the intro. Reminds me of The Cure meets the keyboard/synth work from Stranger Things.

Greetings,
New track called “SUNBURN”
Yesterday in NJ 7/20/2019 was the hottest day since 2013 according to the weather peeps. Ironically it was the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon. I think the sun was jelly.
Made this in the AM with some inspiration of a vape called SUNBURN.
This recording is in mono.
One-take ‘live performance’
Not sure where this will go...

‘Wish Upon A Star: My Dog Became A Real Boy’
‘Wish Upon A Star: My Dog Became A Real Boy’
Was going to post this for my first fathers’ day. Instead, I didn’t. Now, I’m posting this.
This Blog/Journal/Post or whatever you want to call it—isn’t an easy thing to write. I have to go back in time to when we (Cheryl and I) were very depressed and really didn’t appreciate the curveball that life threw at my fiancé and me.  By writing, I’m reliving the experience partially and it stings (Sigmund Freud taught us that reenactments help us relive the experience).
We lost our child. Her name, Alice Clair Arico. She never made it to this world other than her life that was shortly lived within the womb of my beloved. She died sixteen weeks in. October 2017 her heart stopped.
We wanted to name her Alice after Alice in Wonderland—one of our favorite cartoon movies from childhood.

The pain never goes away. The only way to know what that feels like is to truly live it yourself. We found a large amount of comfort knowing that there is a lot more unexpected deaths during pregnancy than we thought.  Miscarriages happen, and are common to happen the first time you are pregnant. There were a few theories as to why this happened to us; thus, completely out of our control.
Tumblr media
I was initially excited about having a girl when we found out for the gender reveal party.  “Women are so mysterious”, I think to myself. “Didn’t have a sister growing up [three brothers] and this was very exciting and new for us.”
We both took temporary disability because of some serious time needed to heal. We were such a mess. The support from family and friends wasn’t enough. Nothing was strong enough to make that pain go away except time
Our dog Yoshi was there for us. He helped us. He also became a much more center of attention than he was before. That dog loves us more than a human is capable. This love is true and unconditional. Pure.

One day crying, looking into his sweet puppy dog eyes: I made a wish: “I wish you were a real boy” just like in Pinocchio. If you haven’t seen or read the story:
Pinocchio is story of a wish come true at least the Disney version and that’s the version that strikes such a chord with me:
In the original story Pinocchio was a talking piece of pinewood that was supposed to be turned into a leg for a table. The carpenter asked neighbor Geppetto to help him carve the wood into a boy. He later does become a real boy. Now, in the Disney story Geppetto makes a wish and the puppet is alive but then has to prove itself to a real boy.
My point is that I relate to Geppetto in the Disney version wishing that my dog would turn into a real life boy.

Now, I’m not demising my Yoshi. He’s the best in the world. But he’s not human. He can be the best dog in the world and that’s fine because that’s what he is. My core belief is that as humans we have a need to be parental but furthermore, reproduce. Like the cliché “we can only keep what we have by giving it away” or we just have this need to reproduce or whatever spin you want to put on it. Even though my dog is a wonderful part of my life and without him t would make a strong impact—we still feel the need to have a human child. I even kissed that Yoshi and it was like I felt something happen. Like as if God answered me.
We decided to brave and try again. Despite what we felt, we were back en route to reproduce and pretty much parallel to the timeline and even same due date as the previous year.
This time, we were way more paranoid. Every little thing we watched out for. We bought a Doppler Audio monitor to make sure that we heard the heartbeat. We weren’t just siting or wallowing in our misery; we were being proactive; we were taking action. This experience was truly nerve-racking.
We didn’t even give our son the gender release party because we didn’t want to be disappointed or make others disappointed.
We needed to stop and enjoy the moment as it happened.  It wasn’t fair to our new unborn child. We had to stop and just enjoy the moments that we had. We learned to stop worrying every second and tried to live the best that we could.
We found out that we were going to have a boy and at first I didn’t feel as excited as when I knew I was going to have a girl. Maybe I was expecting a girl? Maybe when I said I wanted a real boy I just meant a healthy child.
On March, 21 2019 @ 3:56 pm our miracle was born Oliver Leonardo Arico.

In conclusion, I was influenced to write this by a composed group of thoughts that came to my mind while I was listening to Alexa and I asked her to play the Pinocchio sound track. The first song on the sound track is “Wish Upon A Star” every time I hear that song I cry because Oliver is my dream-come-true.

Working on some new music: Korg minilogue 4-voice Analog Synthesizer; Korg Volca Beats; Pocket Operator PO-24 --> sent into mixer. I have to admit, I bought a Behringer mixer and I’m totally digging it! This is kinda like my concept of dj’ing but with “live” instrumentation and improvisation. The Korg MiniLogue has a sequencer built in. The Volca Beats was on-the-fly step recording. The Pocket Operator PO-24 had some pre-sequenced sounds that I organized and took advantage of builtin effects.
The Korg Minilougue is a very powerful dynamic keyboard but I feel its sequencer is a bit confusing for me and I need to spend some time working with it. But as a live instrument, and with synchronization with my Volca Beats and Pocket Operators, it’s a important part to my current electronic music instrument setup.
The lack of knowledge/ability to properly program/sequence the Minilouge has worked to my advantage when composing. While laying out a pattern or sequence I have a lot of room to modulate the sound. So I create these unintentional harmonics. Disadvantage --> Advantage
It’s fun to play around with the different settings:  when I go from a internal recording within the minilouge and change from single note to chords; from chords to arpeggio.
The Volca Beats is split between two input channels because of it’s lower frequency but splitting between two channels gives it plenty of amplification to have it as a main dominating/driving drum machine.
The Behringer Mixer has effects built in and I’m using a bit reverb on this track. Out from Behringer --> Fast Track Pro M-Audio --> Macbook Air --> Garage Band.
Internally in Garage Band, I added some additional sounds using the typewriter keyboard thing.
