i must ask.

do u think jekyll is included in the people who have to gain trust from hyde to touch the cane once he claimed it as his.

like in early times and crap or times when they are fighting (idk if that even makes sense lol) do u think hyde would freak out and immediately try to regain control or just, like, idk scream in their consciousness until jekyll put it down?

If we're going with the idea that Jekyll and Hyde are basically two different entities that can talk to eachother, then I think it's absolutely hilarious that Hyde would get jealous of Jekyll holding the cane. Jekyll was said to be a rather rambunctious youth, which in the scenario where Hyde is separate enough from Jekyll, I like to imagine that Hyde felt their youth was his since he's that side of Jekyll that would have had influence during that time and been pushed down since those days. And if Utterson gave Jekyll the cane during his youth, then Hyde might feel it belongs to him because he had so much of that influence when Jekyll was young. So basically Hyde thinks the cane is his and Jekyll is a big stupid idiot that doesn't get to hold it.

Hear me out:

modern au, Jekyll is a uni prof and is a picture perfect teacher, however, every now and then even a someone as perfect as him needs to throw on some makeup and some temporary hair dye to blow off some steam. Well, not him exactly.

Jekyll is helps students with their homework even after working hours, hyde goes out to clubs and parties till he’s blackout drunk. Jekyll puts on classical music during lectures, hyde is the honorary member of a metal band. Jekyll doesn’t condone violence in his class, hyde doesn’t think it’s a night out unless there was a fight.

One particularly hung over morning, Jekyll if shocked to se that he’s running late to his own lecture. He throws on his usual lab coat and sprints to class, disregarding how he currently looks.

He gets to class right on time and apologizes for being so hasty, while the students look at him in confusion.

He realizes in sheer horror that he’s still dressed up as Hyde.

in a desperate panic, he lies and claims that he’s jekyll’s friends and came to substitute his class for a day. Surprisingly, his students believe him. they go through the lecture with Hyde’s unique snarkiness and hungover humour leading to a very entertaining class on biochemistry. While Jekyll was an excellent teacher by the book, Hyde was simply more fun. the next day, Jekyll returns as normal, praying that his students don’t connect the dots between him and his punk persona. could you imagine how surprised he was when his students asked when Edward would come substitute again?

Likewise Jekyll went to search the multiple drawers and cabinets near the stairs, at one point making sure Utterson won't notice as he slips upstairs into Hyde's old room - taking a quick survey around.
