Okay so I’m an absolute sucker for warm, heartfelt reunions. Especially after loads of angst, cliffhangers, and what not! Makes it just so much more satisfying. Loved playing around with the lighting for this one and drawing their expressions. Give the rest of Nuuk a read its great!

Even from up here, he could make out the faint pink smudge of her scar. Her face turned up to the stands, scanning the crowd, finding Hagrid quite quickly. Killian stood and waved both arms. It’s finally time for me to share my @captainswanbigbang 2017 story with all y’all. You have no idea how excited I am to finally be sharing this with you (or how hard it’s been NOT talking about it, y’all know how I like to ramble). First off, I have to thank @icecubelotr44 for being an Awesome™ beta and sometimes second brain. I was also lucky enough to be matched up with two lovely artists, @prongsie and @jemmingart who will be posting artwork to go along with this story. I’ve seen some of what they’re working on and, let me tell you, you’re in for a treat.

Chapter One: A Stranger at the Door

It was a rainy, gray Tuesday when a visitor knocked at the Joneses’ door. Not a hard, demanding knock, nor a soft, timid knock. If a knock could be polite, but firm, it was this knock.

The Joneses were hardly a normal family–even ensconced in the middle of  London as they were–as one might guess if they caught sight of their unusual visitor. He was a tall, thin old man with a beard long enough to tuck into his belt and hair nearly as long. From his purple cloak to his high, buckled boots every bit of him clashed with the busy street. However, the boy on the other side of the door wasn’t fazed by the man’s odd attire as he squinted through the peephole.

“Is it your father?” Mrs. Alice Jones appeared in the doorway, her younger son propped on one hip and an oddly carved stick in her hand. It was, in fact, a wand. Alice was a witch.

“It’s Professor Dumbledore.”

“Liam, come here,” his mother said with forced calm. “Take your brother for me.”

Liam jumped down from the little stool at the door. In the year or so since the Joneses moved in, few of their old friends had visited—in fact almost none of their old friends knew where they were—and so his perch held a constant vigil at the front door. Especially when Papa went out. He didn’t quite understand why he and his brother couldn’t leave the cramped flat, but he spent many contented afternoons watching the people pass by on the street.

He took his brother without complaint, though he had to wrap both arms around the toddler to keep from dropping him.

Today’s Captain Swan Big Bang Spotlight features @jemmingart

What kinds of artwork do you make?

I tend to stick with digital art when I have the time or working on art for someone else. I do though have a long term affair with color pencils that I have never been able to quit.

What’s your favorite thing about creating artwork?

I love the process I guess? I love taking an idea and turning it from some vague thought into  fully formed piece of art. Every step from sketching, the ugly stages, the coloring, and finishing the illustration.

What’s one of your greatest strengths when it comes to creating artwork?

Color. I love to work in bright, sometimes obnoxious colors.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to try your hand at, but haven’t had a chance yet?

I’ve always wanted to try animation, but it seems like I never have had the time to fully commit to making anything animated.

If you participated in the first Captain Swan Big Bang, what was the experience like for you? What are you looking forward to this time around?

It was fun being able to interact with the fandom more! I’m looking forward to doing os again! Plus I always love creating art for people!

This an old one, but I’ve always loved when both art and fic explored character development and growth. So I’m really happy that I was able to show both Emma’s physical and emotional growth. That and I just love Emma’s character arc over the years.

CS Storybook Updated Sign-up Schedule - Changes

Extended deadline is  Saturday, June 10.

All stories are canon and either deleted or divergent.  6000 or less. 

There are only a small amount of episodes left to select from and those are below.  We have decided that instead of having people write for a second episode, that the extra episodes will be written as collaborative stories.  (Basically 2-4 people, each person writes 200-400 words and it’s passed around - they are a lot of fun. ) 

Also because tumblr is a pill and notifications come and go, please follow (and we will follow you back Jen ( @whimsicallyenchantedrose  ), Misty ( @flslp87 ) as well as the storybook blog (@cstorybook)  because as you can see, the tags do not always link.  

Timeline - 

June 10: The first round of sign ups comes to an end.*

June 10-30: Collaborative stories will be organized to cover any remaining episodes. (Interested in collaboration?   Let us know.)

July 1 or before: Illustrators will be paired with authors.   Currently, we have over 45 authors and only 15 illustrators so we really need more artists.  Grab your friends so we don’t kill the artists ;-)

August 20: Updated date because realistically I won’t work on it any earlier than this date.   @flslp87.

Why does Captain Hook want to go to Storybooke?

Messy little Captain Swan doodle. I’ve been in the mood to draw a captain swan timeline drawing scenes through the seasons. Inspired by that awesome CS gifset of all the seasons floating around. Plus I want to get ready for CSBB coming up! I want to finish this one definently and compare it with the wedding/finale or do a bigger thing with multiple illustrations per season.

Once was a lot of things. It made me scream in disbelief and fury. Roll my eyes at the ever growing family tree and confusing timeline. Smile at every cheesy speech about hope, happily endings, true love.  

Stories that are magical have the habit of touching people that way.

Current WIPs of the moment. Which I blame fully on the musical and Jennifer Morrison leaving. And yes they completely different than the doodles I posted a couple days ago. Just trying to get back into the swing of  drawing OUAT art and digital art before CSBB. 

Both are inspired by the Once Upon a Musical or by two separate quotes. Kind of interchangeable for both.
