Some Stardroid lore & Bass au story stuff:

Ra Moon was built by an ancient alien civilisation to run their planet, but it turned on them and built Sunstar, who drained their planet of its resources for Ra Moon in order to create an army of Kuiper Droids that could help it conquer the galaxy.

The planet was blown up by Sunstar in the aftermath, and it’s broken pieces became asteroids containing the element used to fuel Ra Moon and Sunstar, which Wily would end up discovering and naming ‘bassnium’.

Sunstar becomes dormant and waits in the centre of Earth’s sun for Ra Moon’s next orders, while Ra Moon creates more stardroids.

It acts like a parasite in order to do this, it lands on a planet and connects to their electronics, gifting the people living there with a robot modelled after their species that brings an era of prosperity to the entire planet, helping them access the deepest resources of their planet, and when the society is finally at its peak, Ra Moon forces its creation to turn on the people as it did with Sunstar, draining them of everything they have so it can create more soldiers before moving on to the next planet.

It did this to nine different galaxies, creating a new stardroid for each planet it destroyed, and then it reached earth intending to reactivate Sunstar and have him carry out its will on other planets, but before it could, Duo and the other star marshals caught up with it and decimated its army, leaving it too weak to send a signal to Sunstar or its other stardroids, leaving it alone on earth with its single remaining Kuiper Droid.

Centuries later when everything happens with Wily reactivating Ra Moon and Shadow Man, Ra Moon gives him the blueprints for the Stardroid intended to destroy Earth, Ra Thor, and after Ra Moon’s defeat, Wily decides to repurpose him to be his own harbinger of destruction with encouragement from Shadow, who’s still intent on finishing Ra Moon’s plan and calling the other Stardroids to earth.

Only, the longer it takes for Wily to rebuild Ra Thor into Forté, Shadow lives with the Wilybots, who treat him like their brother and slowly make him realise the weight of what he’s doing. He decides to make it his mission to keep Forté from ever awakening his buried Stardroid coding so that he can live a life independent of what their creator wanted for him.
