60...So what!

I recently hit sixty

Well, several years ago

Was it some kind of blow?

No, I go with the flow.

Was 60 very different from just one year before?

Was fifty nine another time, below the 60 floor?

Was fifty eight a gate through which fifty seven passed?

And fifty six and fifty five, I knew they wouldn't last.

When I was fifty four I was quite sure I was still young

Although at fifty three they said to me...the final rung!

Fifty two and fifty one I spent them paying for

My fiftieth birthday party, no Bacardi, never more.

I've worked in many sectors, I've started many things

I've even finished some of them. Failure never stings

Success is not financial, success is peace of mind

When this peace has gone there's always something else to find.

In my forties, thirties, twenties, I worked hard and I played

Enjoying every day as much as possible I stayed

Updated with my passions, music was my first

I had then and retain today an unquenchable thirst.

So as I passed by sixty, it's meaningless of course

I sing along at concerts till my voice goes hoarse.

The way I think now's the same as when I was just twenty

Has my body changed at all? Obviously plenty!

But that's just superficial, it's what's inside that counts

When I see an opportunity, well then I pounce!

And so, I'm well past 60, and really I don't care

My life is full, I'm pretty fit, I've still got lots of hair

My heart seems good, my brain works well, and other bits do too

My vegan diet also helps to regulate my poo!

When others so much younger look as if they've gone to pot

And ask me "How old are you?" I say "60, so what?"
