Historical references in this chapter include the following:

After the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, prominent members of the Black Freedom Movement felt that not much else could be done in the South to improve the civil rights of African Americans and shifted the movement to the urban centers of the North. The Chicago Freedom Summer was a series of marches and other non-violent protest methods through white neighborhoods to protest substandard housing in the ghettos. In August 1966, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Chicago mayor Richard Daley signed an agreement that would spur fair housing practices in the city. However, Daley failed to keep his promise and very little changed for the city’s black community.

Angel: Chapter Nine

Angel POV

“But a week is a long time,” she confessed. “Don’t you think it’s better to go on a weekend to San Francisco first or something? Or Vegas?”

“Vegas?” I asked her with a despicable look on my face. “And get married right away, or what?”

“You’re sure you wanna take him?” Kate tried to conceal the despite in her voice, but she dramatically failed in my opinion.

“Yes, Kate, I’m sure,” I smiled, but I was running out of patience. “By the way, you’re the reason I had to look for another travel companion in the first place.”

I had her. The look on her face went from judgmental to guilty in a flip second.

“I told you I’m sorry,” she defended herself for the hundredth time. “I explained it to you, I barely have a choice. I’d love to go to New York with you, I really do.”

“I know, I know, I’m just torturing you, you know that’s my specialty,” I tried to reason.

“Okay then.” She cracked a smile. “But I still want you to be careful, you barely know this guy.”

“That’s true,” I admitted. “But he’s a good guy, I feel that. And besides, if he tried something, you really think I would let him get away with it easily?”

“No,” Kate smiled, thinking back at the many crotches of disillusioned guys I had smacked with my feet before.

In a way, she was right. I barely knew Josh, and now I was taking him on a trip to New York. For nearly two weeks. But the reason I took Josh, was because I knew it would be fun with him. No other reasons. I had no romantic feelings for Josh whatsoever, and I couldn’t picture Josh being in love with me. I mean, we had fun together and got along, but we were no couple material. We lived two completely different lives that would in no way be able to work together. It was practically impossible for us to engage in a relationship.

“When is he picking you up?” Kate shook me out of my daydream.

“Um, he should be here any moment,” I said, still a little dozed off from my thoughts.

Angel: Chapter Eight

Here is chapter eight of Angel, the story took a very wild turn, but I’m kinda happy with it :)

Angel POV

Kate and I were preparing everything for our trip to New York. I read travel guides, studies the lives of all the Sex and the City cast members, and looked up who would be present at the Fashion Week. Even though I tried to be as excited about all of them, I was most excited about the city itself. When my boss had called me with the news, he kept pointing out it was for business. But no one would be able to bring down my excitement about travelling to the city.

But the only thing bothering me –even if just slightly- was Josh’s reaction. It didn’t seem genuine. I thought he would be extremely happy for me, that he would scream and jump up just like I did. But his response seemed rather cool. I guess I was just expecting too much. He only knew me for a week, did I really want him to be so emotionally involved. I decided to just let it go and back off a little. If he wanted to get involved, he would.

“So, what else do we all need?” Kate asked, bended over her list.

“Um… camera’s we can’t forget our camera’s!”

“It’s not because you’re obsessed with constantly taking picture when you’re on a trip, that I am as well,” she laughed.

“I know, I know,” I giggled.

Josh POV

After I drove Angel home, I landed in my own bed with mixed feeling. I stared at the ceiling and relived the day in my head.

Things were going so great, we had fun skydiving, she was the one comforting me and the one being brave, while I thought that would be me. I cracked a smile. She was definitely something.

But then we got to the restaurant and the ex-thing was brought up. Why the hell did I start about that in the first place? I could’ve known she would turn the tables on me after that. But she hadn’t done anything wrong. She didn’t know better, it wasn’t her fault.

Author’s note: Sorry for the delay, but Josh and Jen needed to clear a few things up before they could make another appearance. After the maybe “not so nice”-ness of the last chapter, I think think this one will be a lot more appealing. Chapter 11 will be even better.

Historical references in this chapter include the following: 

On Sunday, April 10, 1966, a bomb exploded at the Vietnam Day Committee (VDC) headquarters on the University of California-Berkeley campus. Four people suffered minor injuries from the explosion. The VDC worked closely with the SDS to protest American involvement in Vietnam. On the evening of the bombing, a student-led protest turned violent and was broken up by police. This protest is not referenced in this chapter because of the actions of the narrator.

A Dream Come True Chapter 10 (NC-17)

The next two weeks passed by slowly so when it came time to leave for the theme park, I was beyond excited. Josh was going to meet us there along with his brother and dad and everyone else. I was so excited to see him. The last time I saw him was on his actual birthday a few days ago. I took him out for dinner and drinks and then stayed the night at his house.  

Nina came downstairs wearing a pink long sleeve flowy shirt with a pair of skinny jeans and some ankle boots with fringe. Her hair was pulled into a loose braid and she wore her crossbody purse.

“You look great Nina.”

“Thanks, so do you!” I looked at my outfit in the mirror. I was dressed in a plaid shirt that I left unbuttoned and wore a white shirt underneath. I paired it with some light washed skinny jeans and some tan ankle boots. I left my hair down and curled it a little to give it some volume. Nina grabbed her keys and we headed to the car. It was only a short drive to the park and once we got there, I was surprised at how many people were there. I knew that Horror Nights attracted more people, but I didn’t think that there would be this many people. It took us awhile to find a parking spot, but once we did, I checked my makeup one more time before we made our way to the front gates. When we got through the gates, I pulled out my phone to see where Josh said he’d meet us.

Momentum: Chapter Twenty-Five

“Fuck you!”

“Seriously? What in the hell is wrong with you, Kenna?”

She replayed the events of that night constantly.  It always crossed her mind. The dialogue never faded and she did not allow it to do so. Dissecting what went wrong, the exact hours of his absence, how they were trying to amend the ugly words and actions. Why they had reached to this intersection and how she doubted if they would ever recover.  

Five weeks had passed; although McKenna and Josh promised to each other that they would do better, she could tell, they were not okay. He probably agreed, but she never asked. They stayed cordial at home, barely having any conversations of substance. Other than sweet kisses and an occasional cuddle session on the couch, they weren’t intimate. That part of their marriage was on the back burner. Josh did not want to break the dam of emotions; McKenna opted to be a little more careful and picked her battles wisely. Allowing the other to have as much space as possible and they silently decided that this was the best way to resolve things.

But they played the game very well; they kept it all tight-lipped. Her family had no knowledge of the recent discord; they would cry out the D-word so fast, she and Josh wouldn’t have had time to get a word out. It was a struggle to go out in public, but they did what needed to be done. McKenna needed advice, but the apparent options were out of the question. Throwing away Ivanna’s suggestion of a therapist, McKenna called the one person who would give it to her straight and still give the love and confidence boost she needed.

Josh Hutcherson Secret Santa Fanfiction Exchange 2016?

It’s never too early for Christmas and the Holiday season, right? Well, yeah, it is, so we’re not going to inundate you with every detail yet, but we wanted to make this announcement to get the ball rolling for what’s to come!

If there’s interest, the jhutchdirectory will be happy to sponsor another Secret Santa fanfiction exchange for Josh/OC and Joshifer stories in December 2016. Like the past two years, there will only be one exchange, but you will be able to choose your preferences for both writing and receiving.

If people want to participate, details about and signup for the exchange will be made available in early to mid-November, and prompts will be distributed at the beginning of December so each author has a few weeks to complete individual stories. The exchange will run very similarly to last year’s. You can find information about last year’s guidelines and rules on jhutchsecretsanta.

What can you do between now and signup time? Please reblog this to get the word out. We’d love to have as many people involved as possible. Also, feel free to track the tag jhutchsecretsanta for future announcements and details.
