Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β JIA AND JOSHUA βCOMPLIMENTβ EACH OTHER . . . ?
β€· πΉ.α set in: βSeventeen Competes in a Compliment Battleβ by Teen Vogue
[How can we not start off with THE moment?! I just couldn't make a Jisaewon video and leave THE clip out!!]
The pair sat across from each other at the table, subconsciously holding eye contact for a few seconds. Both of them remained silent for a while. Jia occasionally let out a giggle and gazed around the room, breaking the eye contact to avoid getting more shy than she already was.
[SOMEONE SHOOT ME PLEASE SKDJAHWHAJ]
"Ya, is this a staring contest?" Seungkwan teased and finally broke the tension. Joshua let out a nervous chuckle and prepared himself to read the next tweet, but Seungkwan refused to let it go. "You know, it feels like we're spectators. Doesn't it feel terrible? Suddenly it's just them."
"Idol image! Idol image!" Seokmin called out. A chuckle escaped Jeonghan's mouth, and he repeated Seokmin's words just to tease the other two.
"Shhh!" Jia playfully shushed the men, but she couldn't hide her smile anymore. She turned to look at Joshua again and watched as he prepared himself to speak out loud.
However, there was something odd about him. His eyes scanned over the tweet countless times over and over again, as if he was trying to memorize each sentence and engrave each word in his brain like a sacred poem he is honored to read.
"Jia, your voice is like a melodic tune that rings out from heaven. Your dance is as elegant and beautiful as a swan. Your face is sculpted by Aphrodite's blessed fingers, and your personality is as charming as your beauty. Please marry me," Joshua's charming accent blessed Jia's ears as he spoke. He maintained eye contact with her like he meant every word he said. His soft gaze remained on the woman in front of him as his gentle words left his mouth, his cheeks turning slightly pink as he realized the strong implications and heavy weight of his affectionate compliment.
[HIS EYES HIS EYES OMG?!]
For a moment, it didn't feel like he was reading off a tweet. Instead, it felt real β like the words had formed in his heart with years of affection he held just for her. And Jia, being fluent in english like Joshua, understood every word that made her heart flutter. She was left enchanted, the wide grin replaced by an emotional smile that conveyed a million emotions words could never describe.
[This MIGHT be the look of love idk maybe i'm just insane...]
"We're still recording, by the way," Minghao subtly dropped a comment to remind the two of their presence on camera.
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β GENTLEMAN JOSHUA, CLINGY JIA, & STRONG MARRIED COUPLE BEHAVIOR
β€· πΉ.α set in: one of Jia's weverse lives
Jia was busy during nothing. She'd usually start lives during her leisure to keep herself entertained, and she'd been reading fan comments and answering questions for the past half hour. To say the least, it quickly got boring without company.
Until an unannounced presence made their appearance with a gentle knock on the door. Jia allowed them to come in, and the expected visit was none other than Joshua carrying a bag with food inside for him and Jia.
[They're so domestic please I'm going insane UGHHHH]
"Come, sit," Jia made space for Joshua at the desk she was sitting at. "I was just doing a live. Nothing too important, so I'm not busy right now."
"Oh, you're live?" His eyes slightly widened at the realization, noticing that he might've been too obvious. He cleared his throat and waved at the Carats watching, "Hello caratdeul~!"
"You can stop pretending, I know you're tired," Jia chuckled and reached out for his hand but immediately stopped after she remembered the camera in front of them. She let out an audible sigh mixed with a breathy laugh, "What did you bring? You didn't have to, you know?"
He briefly looked at her hand as she slowly moved backward to set some distance between them. For a moment, he was visibly confused, and in the next, he gently set his hand over hers and entwined their fingers together. The dimmed lights and silent room created an intimate glow between the pair, allowing their fans to see a deeper side to their relationship, "So? Now we can't have dinner together? Are you kicking me out?"
[MY PARENTS MY PARENTS MY PARENTS????!!!!!]
"Of course not!" Jia smiled and signaled Joshua to open the bag. "Let's see what you have. I'm hungry."
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β LAZY MORNINGS IN NANA TOUR
β€· πΉ.α set in: NANA Tour EP 1
The members rose up early in the morning, many because they were already used to their early schedule. However, Jia didn't agree with their thought process. It was a vacation, so why wake up as early as usual?
Joshua and her lay on the bed, limbs entwined and covered by the weight of the soft blankets on top of them. The intimate moment was fortunately not caught on camera, giving the idols their needed privacy.
However, their privacy didn't last long. An excited Soonyoung with his company, Seungkwan, barged into their room to wake them up, holding their camera on their hands so it faced the room. The door opened immediately and startled the pair.
[Holy shit I feel so bad for themπ]
Fans could see a brief moment of privacy between Jia and Joshua getting interrupted by the loud, enthusiastic members. The two frantically turned the camera around before too much was leaked, but the footage was already recorded. And the editors? They didn't bother taking it out β or maybe someone allowed them to keep it.
Soonyoung and Seungkwan rapidly apologized and fidgeted with their camera to switch the view. Their panic only heightened the hilarious moment to another level. Meanwhile, the pair lay back down on the bed and continued sleeping peacefully beneath the comfort of each other and the warmth of the bed.
[DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT...........]
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β LISTENER x TALKER DUO (THE CUTEST!)
β€· πΉ.α set in: Going Seventeen EP.44 TTT #1 (Hyperrealism Ver.)
The car never fell silent. The constant chatter echoed inside the vehicle β the conversation mainly carried by the sunshine of the group: Jia. She always managed to think of new topics just to avoid silence and not stop talking. It got to the point that when all of the members inside didn't even bother replying, Jia just talked to herself and narrated unsolicited commentary as they drove to their destination.
"Also, I kinda have an obsession with this song. Do you guys know it? Miroh by Stray Kids," Jia dropped a comment and kindly asked to connect her phone to the car's speaker. "Can I play the song? Also, don't you guys think we should cover it? I feel like it fits Seventeen, you know? Or maybe the performance unit? Ah, but I have to ask them if they want to. I mean, I hope they're down for it, but I think that's a second option β What I mean is, I want Seventeen as a whole to cover the song, but if you guys don't want to, I can ask the performance unit."
[Whatever you say beautifulπ«Ά]
"You say that every week. We know you're obsessed with that song!! We've known for months!" Seungkwan sighed and leaned back on the chair. He let out an ever louder sigh and covered his ears as Jia kept talking, words spilling without end. "Ah, seriously! Someone put tape over her mouth!!"
[HIS REACTION IS FRYING ME LMAOOOOO]
"Jia, hand me your phone. I can connect it to the speaker," Joshua slightly turned around from the passenger seat and extended his hand to reach for her phone. Once Jia handed it over, Joshua connected it to the car's speaker so she could listen to Miroh out loud. Then, he handed her her phone back.
"Don't play it too loud, I'm driving," Seungcheol stated.
Jia continued talking as the song played in the background. Seungcheol and Seungkwan couldn't hide their exhaustion and practically begged her to stop and close her mouth for at least five minutes. The only one who didn't mind was Joshua, who was actually interested in her words. He nodded and dropped a few comments to show he was listening.
"I think the same too," he said. "It wouldn't be a bad idea to cover Miroh. I mean, it's been a while since our last dance cover, hasn't it? Plus, wouldn't it be fun?"
"Yes, absolutely!" Jia agreed. She proceeded to give her own opinion until the dance break occurred, and then she turned up the volume to the highest to sing and match the vibe of the song. "λ°μ΄λ 건 λλκΉ I'M OKAYYY! WE GOING HIGHER λ€μ λμ μμ λΉλ©λ€ λ΄λ €λ³΄λ©° FLY ALL DAY!"
"YA, KANG HAEWON!! TURN IT DOWN!!" scolded Seungcheol.
[She is every STAY when this part plays I can't even blame her]
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β HOW ARE THEY NOT EMBARRASSED?
β€· πΉ.α set in: Game Caterers HYBE EP1-1
"Our passion is hot like the sun, and we run for a high goal. We're SEVENTEEN!" Dino stated will full confidence, his straight face showing no signs of embarrassment as he dropped the most publicly humiliating slogan for their team.
[Whatever you say beautifulπ«Ά Chan version]
"What?" Seungkwan wheezed and hid his head between his arms on the table. He couldn't hold in his laugh at the pathetic name the youngest had come up with.
"Wait, no, that's amazing!" Jia clapped and then pointed at Dino. "It's extra, and we're known for being extra. So, our passion is hot like the sun, and we run for a high goal. Let's go, SEVENTEEN!"
Even Dino couldn't resist laughing at Jia's corny behavior. She tried to match his enthusiasm but somehow ended up being teased instead by everyone, including the maknae.
But he soon joined her enthusiasm too. Dino and Jia jumped together, screaming and chanting their slogan over and over. "Our passion is hot like the sun, and we run for a high goal. Let's go, SEVENTEEN!"
"We are not doing that!" Minghao chimed in. "Sit down before everyone notices you."
Joshua spoke next, jumping in the defend the embarrassing duo, "Actually, I like it."
"No, you don't," Seungkwan rolled his eyes and looked at the man up and down. "You're only doing it because Jia is."
[Sassy man apocalypse and we live for it]
"Ya," he playfully hit the other man's arm, quickly telling him to close his mouth before anything else was exposed.
[I know what you're doing... I SEE what you're doing...]
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β BONUS: JEALOUS JIA?!
β€· πΉ.α set in: Right Here World Tour U.S.
Jia usually used the encore time to interact with fans. The tour had been going smoothly for now, without any serious injuries or mistakes during their performances. The members were lively walking around the stage, enjoying their time as performers in front of the large audience.
She was enjoying herself too, until she noticed a large number of fans screaming for Joshua's attention, with signs saying bold things such as: Hong Joshua, marry me!!
The chanting got loud enough for all of the members to hear. Although Joshua got shy from all of the compliments and occasionally glanced at Jia for who knows what reason, Jia didn't really enjoy the loud fans.
"Okay, okay, we get it," she playfully said into her mic, forcing a chuckle to make the situation lighthearted. "You guys are loud today!"
[I know damn WELL she was JEALOUS. LISTEN TO HER TONE.]
"Save the energy for the songs, okay?" She smiled and nodded at the crowd. "We don't want you to run out of energy before the concert is over!"
Joshua seemed to have caught up on her behavior. He approached Jia and stood behind her, close enough to make the fans spiral and the cheers to go crazy. The woman quickly turned around and scolded Joshua for scaring her, but if you looked closely, his barely noticeable smirk lingered on his face.
[EXCUSE ME SIR JOSHUA HONG??!?!?!?]
Ϋ« κ£ΰ§ πͺ· β OUTRO
Sigh... It is terrible that we have to conclude this video so early, but if I don't end it now, my phone storage is going to explode. There are too many clips of them!!(β₯βΈβ₯)
If my man isn't like Hong Joshua, I don't want him. I said what I said, and I have every right to say that! Jia and Joshua are THE STANDARD. Imagine their influence if their relationship ever becomes public?!
I mean, I'm not trying to assume things, but it's VERY HARD not to when these clips are RIGHT IN FRONT OF US?! Who can blame me?!
Anyway, thank you so much for watching! I hope you enjoyed these moments as much as I did, and I'll see you in the next video. Bye!

ΰ¨ΰ§ π½ <Until You Love Yourself> | HIT THE ROAD EP14
πΉ.α SYNOPSIS: As a Seventeen member, it is undeniable that Jia had to fight for herself in order to debut as the only woman in the group and succeed in her career. She's faced enormous challenges off-camera throughout the years, but the truth spills as she describes the challenging fights and overwhelming events she went through before and after her debut.
WARNINGS: Self-deprecation, mentions of depression, cyberbullying, hate comments, hiatus, fainting, mental and physical exhaustion, perfectionism, overworking, hyperventilation, trauma (bullying) . Mainly proofread but there might be mistakes . Β© jiaelune on tumblr . 2025

β€· πΉ.α masterlist . (π) . hit the road: jia
βI always think of you before I fall asleep. The words you said, the way you looked. The things we laughed about, the silent moments we shared. And when I dream, I'll dream of you. Because it's about you; it's always about you.β
Through hardships and unbearable challenges, Jia has been the soothing sea for the rest of the members. A gentle tide they could float on, silently guided by her supportive and comforting presence. Her altruism was undeniable, and her love overflowed through her actions and kindhearted words.
She's a shoulder they can rely on whenever they need it, always open to listen and understand their emotions. Yet, she rarely opens up to them, labeling her emotions as a "burden" and "distractions" from her professional career. In the face of her fans, in the face of her haters, she knew she'd never be human. She'd never be treated as one, nor seen as one.
Being in front of cameras 24/7 was exhausting. She needed to perform in front of an audience for most of her life without a break. Any signs of exhaustion, unhappiness, or even one moment without a bright smile on her face could cause a grand dispute online. She smiled at all times and pushed her feelings underground to maintain a stable idol image.
"I'm just... tired. It gets tiring at some point, and I've already reached past my limit," Jia confessed, sitting cross-legged on a couch with her hands clasped together as she talked to the camera recording her conversation. "No matter how much you push your emotions away from you, they always come back like an overwhelming storm."
She doesn't like to be labeled as perfect. She hates it. The term traps her inside a cage and surrounds her with unachievable expectations from her fans and staff. The word itself carries a weight too heavy for Jia to handle.
"And I guess that's why I almost collapsed," she continues, referring to a specific Ode To You tour concert. "Wonwoo and I had been really tired before the concert. He was gasping for air on stage and hyperventilating. In addition, I stayed up late practicing and singing the night prior to our concert."
"I strained my voice so much that I felt lightheaded. The stress, the worry, the concern, and the pile of idol work waiting for me were too much to bear. I just couldn't take it anymore. Yet, I kept performing. I fainted after the concert ended. I had a sore throat, my muscles twitched and hurt, and I had such a terrible headache I felt like vomiting every five seconds."
The members were backstage after a sweat-drenching concert, fanning themselves with their clothes and chugging down entire bottles of water to compensate for the energy lost for over two hours.
Then suddenly, an alarming incident occurred. As Jia was stepping down the stage, feeling lightheaded and nauseous, she collapsed and fell into the arms of the staff members who were ready to catch her.
"What's going on?!" Seungcheol, the ever protective and caring leader, immediately showed up to the scene once he was informed of the events. "Where's Jia?!"
The staff rushed to aid Jia and provided her with the necessary care. Her eyes were half-open, her breath heavy and quick, her body exhausted from the nonstop dancing and singing.
Her collapse was to be expected. During that time, she'd been pushing herself as far as she could. In addition, she'd been sick a few days prior. But in order to continue the tour flawlessly, Jia shoved her concerns aside and ignored the clear signs of her body's sickness.
Jia fidgeted with her fingers and thought of a way to voice her feelings, "I just... I think that, at that time, I felt like I was falling behind. I'd been sick a few days before, but I didn't stop. My dance was slower than the rest, my voice was more strained, and I felt like I wasn't giving enough."
"I was like, I trained for this, so I think that's what drove me to push myself to my limits," she admitted. "It's frustrating. The choreography is shaped for them, the dance moves are made with a boy group in mind, and sometimes I just... I can't do it. It irks me so much. It frustrates me so much it makes me want to cry. I don't mean to criticize Hoshi's work in any way, but it just... It's hard for me."
Jia is a dazzling dancer on stage, with a strong stage presence that allures fans to her striking performance. However, success doesn't come with challenges. More often than not, she finds herself in the dance practice room late at night to deliver a flawless dance on stage. From risky, sharp moves that require exhausting physical training to tiring vocal exercises, Jia wants to be on par with the rest of the members.
During her hiatus in the Pretty U era, Jia visited the practice room to watch the Seventeen members sometimes and silently cheer them on, offering her presence despite being mentally and physically unwell. Yet, when she watched them become better and improve more than she ever did, she couldn't help the irritating jealousy, envy, and frustration bubbling up in her chest.
Instead of healing herself, her frustration became unbearable, and she felt the need to reach their level. She felt as if she wasn't enough, that the hate comments were correct, that she wasn't fit to be a member of Seventeen. She herself wasn't worthy of that because all she did was slow them down.
The cyberbullying left her traumatized along with a bad habit of pushing herself to the limit. It repeated in the Ode To You tour, hence her exhaustion and collapse. She sang until her vocal chords stung. She danced until her muscles were sore, and she performed until her heart's palpitations were too quick and her ragged breath became painfully unbearable.
"I'm not used to talking my feelings with others openly. I think this is actually the first time I shared so much about how I feel to my fans," Jia sniffled and wiped the corner her eyes with the tip of her fingers, careful not to smudge her makeup as tears quickly formed in her eyes. "I'm used to having others rely on me, so when it's actually my time to speak about myself, it gets... awkward."
"I always try to be a good role model for the others, so I tend to prioritize their needs over mine. I actually like doing that β it gives me a distraction from my own problems," Jia chuckled awkwardly, not sure how to explain herself properly. "I just... I guess I'm just that kind of person. Not sure who I learned it from."
She is always the spotlight of the group, whether because of love or hate isn't important. Her name is easily found in many articles. From scandals to announcements, from hate comments to praise; she is always the topic. She could never live peacefully because there would always be someone commenting about her.
The Ode To You tour had been a difficult experience for all of the members, and Jia was no exclusion. Despite labeling her feelings as unimportant, the members strongly believed she was just as relevant as them. In the end, they weren't just idols or performers β they were human, and all of them needed to let their feelings out one way or another.
To them, no one is irrelevant. No matter how much Jia brings herself down, the members will subconsciously prove her otherwise. From small gestures like checking on her health or asking if she felt unwell, to powerful comforting moments in which they'd remain silent in an emotional group hug, they prove to her that she is just as important as the rest. Without her, Seventeen would not feel like home.
"You ready?" Minghao asked Jia a few minutes before the performance team went up on stage. Hoshi placed his hand on her shoulders and patted them affectionately while Jun prepared himself to perform.
"I am," Jia smiled and offered Minghao a bottle of water. "It's important to stay hydrated. I can tell you're nervous. We've done this many times before, but if you're feeling out of it, make sure to tell us β and this goes for everyone else."
Minghao shook his head and handed Jia the water bottle, "You need it more than me. I don't want you to faint again. We don't want you to faint again. Dino, Wonwoo, S.coups, Jeonghan, and you have been enough."
Jun nodded and agreed with Minghao, "Let's take care of each other and avoid any more injuries, okay?"
Fortunately, the performance was a success. The cheers from the fans, the encouragement, and the dazzling lights of the stage made her feel alive. She forgot about everything for a moment. Suddenly, the weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders.
At that moment, she realized she was born to perform. Born to be with Seventeen. Born to be on the stage, smiling and laughing while having the best time of her life. Being on stage makes her feel alive, loved, and cared for. There is no way to describe the beautiful warmth in her chest after hearing the loud chants of her fans and the beautiful view of the ocean of lightsticks lighting up the venue with a mesmerizing hue of blue.
"It's stressful, but it's beautiful," said Jia. "The members are always there by my side. They make me realize that I'm worthy of being in this group, and I am just as valued as the others are. I don't know why it took me so long to realize this, but Seventeen without any of the members isn't a team. We all belong here, with each other, and I couldn't have asked for more."
She could feel her eyes well up with tears threatening to spill at any second. It took so long for her to understand that she's loved, and now that she understands the impact of her presence alone, she can't help but feel emotional.
The staff handed her a tissue and she wiped her tears, but she couldn't control herself for long. She covered her face with the tissue in her hands, let her head fall low, and allowed her hair to fall over her face. It was impossible not to cry when she was surrounded by so much love.
She never saw her true potential, but everyone else did. It is thanks to them that she stayed. It is thanks to them that she recovered from her depression. It is thanks to them and their irritating comfort that persuaded her to chase her dreams. If it weren't for them, she would've given up a long time ago.
When she was at her lowest, when she was at her best, during arguments, and reconciliations. In her embarrassing moments to her proudest achievements, someone was always there, watching. The mutual fondness always lingered. They've been together for so many years that arguments could never last longer than a day.
They make her feel human. They know her, they see her, they understand her. Not through the camera lenses, but with their real eyes. They see her true self in a way no one else does.
"I'm so grateful," she sobbed, an emotional smile spreading on her lips. "I want to be enough. I want to do better. I want my fans to look at me and say I'm a person worth looking up to. I want to be a better person so when I become old I can look back at myself and be proud of everything I accomplished."
Her presence will leave a lasting impression in the K-pop world. Her kind soul will not be left unseen. Once the end arrives, once the good times end, her name will be carved in the music history along with the rest of Seventeen.
Beneath the mask of perfection, underneath the facade of a performer, lies a little girl with a dream. The spark in her eyes shines brightly as she hears the cheers from the crowd. That's a part of Jia that never changed at all. The passion for music never left. It always lingered close to her like a heartwarming comfort that tells her that her efforts were worth it. She is worth it. She made it. She deserves it.
Her path is a journey that is not over yet. There will be challenges along the way, but what she knows is that everyone will be by her side if she ever needs support and that she shouldn't feel ashamed for reaching her limits.
She is not perfect. She is not the ideal idol. She is a human. A beautiful human with flaws and imperfections she needs to learn to love. Every part of her is unique. Each impurity tells a part of her story that only those who are able to see the true beauty of them will understand.
"I want to go on stage again," Jia wiped her remaining tears and smiled wide enough to reach her gentle eyes. "I want to go on stage again and perform. I want to make the most of my life and live every day in a way I won't regret. I love making music. I love singing. I love dancing, and I hope I can keep on doing what I love until I die."
For her, Seventeen is enough. She is eternally grateful for the love and opportunities she received throughout the years. Her strong devotion to her career and resilience to hate comments prove her worthy of her position and a good role model.
"And I've come so far and achieved so much... So, instead of saying sorry for all the times I couldn't keep up with the rest, instead of apologizing for all of my mistakes, I'll say thank you. To my fans, who stayed with me during my worst. To my members, who watched me grow and improve in this beautiful journey. And to everyone who didn't give up believing in me and supported me every step of the way."
Music is therapy. She hopes that one day, she'll be the reason someone wants to be better. She wants to be an inspiration, a good role model, and a person worth loving.
And one day, she'll love herself as much as others do.

πΉ.α CHOI SEUNGCHEOL // haecheol
α―β
πππππππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Jia is Seungcheol's only daughter in the whole group. Therefore, she gets extra privileges. Although she usually doesn't ask for anything, if there's something she really wants or casually mentions in a conversation, Seungcheol is immediately on his way to get it. In addition, whenever she gets in trouble, Seungcheol is less harsh on her than the other members. She can rely on him just as much as he can rely on her.
α―β
π
ππππ πππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Jia was very shy during trainee years. Usually, she'd sit alone in a corner and draw during her free time. However, she spent most of her time practicing alone and rarely talked to any other trainees. Mingyu had to introduce her to the rest.
He casually started a conversation with her while she was practicing and asked if he could join. Fortunately, she accepted, and once they finished their practice, Seungcheol took the opportunity to get to know her better by asking simple, surface-level questions.
Despite being intimidated by Jia's mysterious and introverted personality at first, Seungcheol quickly realized she was one of the sweetest people he'd ever met, but she was just very very shy.
In the end, he finished the conversation and allowed her to have her space. But eventually, he'd talk to her more.
α―β
π
π°πππ π°πππππππ°πππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βWhen I first met Jia during our trainee period, I was definitely very scared to get close to her. She just had this relaxed, stoic face and low eyelids that made her seem too intimidating to approach,β Seungcheol quotes on a personal weverse live. βBut after talking to her, I realized she's a very beautiful person inside and out. And when I saw her smile for the first time, it was... contagious.β
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βEver since she recovered from her depression, since she stopped starving herself, since she stopped harming herself after the immense hate she received after her debut, I swore to myself: I'll never let anyone damage her soul like that again. Seeing the spark in her eyes die is a different kind of pain I don't want to feel ever again. Sometimes when I see her smile, see her become more extroverted and socialize more than before, I'm reminded that she's actually still here with us, in SEVENTEEN, alive and well. I get emotional β ah, now I'm getting emotional! She's just... She's been through a lot, and I'm proud of the talented woman she is now.β
Jia says on Knowing Bros, βAt first, I didn't want to speak to Seungcheol because I thought he was too outgoing β I used to and still feel overwhelmed in loud environments, so I avoided any interactions with him. But then he talked to me and he wasn't even that bad, so I was worried about nothing!β
βHe's quite protective of me, and I think that out of all the members, he's the proudest one of my achievements. There's been a few times I caught him staring at me like he was about to cry and that makes me worried, but when I ask about it, he doesn't answer and just... smiles? Some things never change, I guess; he's still strange, but he's been a very important figure in my life nevertheless, and I'm grateful to have such a kind and caring leader.β
α―β
πππ πππ ππππ πππ πππππ?
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Seungcheol has always been protective of his group members and is always making sure everyone is treated well and resting properly. However, since Jia didn't express herself much, he was often checking up on her.
At first, Jia thought it was annoying, but as time passed, she learned to be grateful to have someone care for her so much. Giving her a water bottle to stay hydrated, occasionally drawing with her during their free time even though he wasn't good at it, and so many other experiences made them get closer.
Eventually, Jia was comfortable enough to seek out Seungcheol's help and advice, seek out his company, β and he couldn't be prouder to be so important to her. Many pre-debut recordings showcase their relationship and trust building each day.
α―β
ππππ ππππ πππ ππ ππππ πππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Seungcheol is very important to Jia, as he was one of the first people she was comfortable talking to. He's a reliable older figure to her, and she knows that he'll be there to listen to any of her problems and offer advice if she ever needs it. During her depressive state shortly after their debut due to the unbearable hate she received, Seungcheol was her second most-trusted person who helped her get through it.
To Seungcheol, Jia is one of the most important people in his life. He treats her like a younger sister and always makes sure she's feeling well. And if a staff member ever disrespects her or if she even gets told a rude comment in front of him? He's there to defend Jia and tell the person to back off. Although he is protective of her, he also allows her to be independent and congratulates her for her own efforts. There needs to be a balance for their relationship to work out.
α―β
ππππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Jia loves Seungcheol's hugs. They make her feel comfortable, safe, valued, loved. Whenever she's sad, mad, overwhelmed, out of it, or even if she just wants a hug, she'll go to Seungcheol, and he'll accept with open arms.
As for Seungcheol, he loves being drawn by Jia β or just receiving paintings from her in general. Since she has a strong passion for art, he asks for paintings for birthday gifts and hangs them in his room like trophies he's proud of.
α―β
ππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Seungcheol will hold her hair ties. She always puts a lot of them on his wrist, and at this point, he's her personal hair tie holder.
Jia sends Seungcheol brainrot videos (learned that from Hoshi) and memes in multilingual languages. He doesn't understand anything and has to ask her what it means, but she just laughs. Sometimes she really stresses him out...
She makes fun of him when he does aegyo and has no shame about it. He just sighs and lets it go because she has special privileges (and will never stop roasting him).
α―β
πππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βI noticed you're tired, so I took overβ energy (works both ways, because both are independent and willing to take on any difficult tasks the other can't do).
πΉ.α JEON WONWOO // woowon
α―β
πππππππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Total opposites. One will not stop talking, and the other will not be bothered to say a word. However, whenever they're together, there's a comfortable silence. One that doesn't force them to speak. One that doesn't push them to be extroverted and socialize with each other. Their time spent together feels like a calm, relaxing tide after a long day of overwhelming social storms.
α―β
π
ππππ πππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Neither of them had any interest in talking with each other. Both of them were in their own world. Literally. Just... existing. Being there. And Jia was naturally drawn to his quiet presence.
One day after her dance practice, she was suddenly approached by Wonwoo. The first and only thing he said was, βYou're really good.β
βThanks,β Jia replied. A long pause occurred between them. Then, she spoke, βOh, uh, I'm Haewon. Kang Haewon.β
He replied, βJeon Wonwoo. Wanna sit together?β
Jia liked Wonwoo's presence. He was as quiet as her. He didn't push her to open up. He just... stayed.
α―β
π
π°πππ π°πππππππ°πππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βOh, my first impression of Haewon? I didn't think much of Haewon-ah until Mingyu introduced her and then we started talking,β Wonwoo confessed as he answered a fan's question. βActually, I kinda looked up to her dance skills and observed her during training. We didn't talk much, but we often sat together in silence. She'd teach me a few things every now and then when I asked.β
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βThat guy keeps zoning out,β pre-debut Jia talked to the camera in the dance practice room that recorded their training period, saying her first thoughts out loud. βHe's kinda weird. I don't know. He looks mean, but I don't have anywhere else to sit... Should I? I hope he doesn't kick me out.β
She gave up and didn't ask him if they could sit together β she felt too awkward without Mingyu, which prevented her from socializing. In the end, Wonwoo had to approach her first after practice.
α―β
πππ πππ ππππ πππ πππππ?
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Neither of them socialized a lot at the start, but once Wonwoo saw how easily Seungcheol and Mingyu approached Jia for dance advice and just small talk, he decided to give it a shot.
Eventually, Jia started to bring snacks to the practice room and offered cookies to Wonwoo. Of course, he accepted, and then they ate together. Their relationship was built on small moments, and eventually (specifically after their debut), they became close friends β just like with the rest of the members.
α―β
ππππ ππππ πππ ππ ππππ πππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Whenever they're burnt out or seriously need to be alone because their social battery is in the lowest, they'll hang around each other and meditate with Minghao to recover.
Literally the laziest mfs whenever there's nothing to do. What else are they supposed to do on a day off? Unless it's traveling to a new place or ordering food, they'll do nothing except sleep, talk, read, and be on their phones until they get extremely bored and need to do something.
They're each other's silent comfort. Good listeners, good communicators, and each other's support. If one needs to vent to the other, they'll be there and listen. There is no barrier between them, just mutual respect and encouragement.
When Jia feels super energized and can not stop talking, Wonwoo will sometimes listen and nod along, occasionally making comments to prove he's listening. His attention is a privilege though, because he will NOT lift his head from his book or phone unless he feels like it or it's an urgent matter.
α―β
ππππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ DEFINITELY playing games together. Jia is terrible, but that doesn't matter because sometimes he lets her win (of course, not always). Worst part is that he's so calm about it that it's irritating. He ends up winning when he doesn't even try to.
He's such a nerd and will talk to Jia about literature even if she doesn't enjoy reading since she gets bored easily and can't focus. Instead of joining him, she'll choose to listen and nod along.
Watching movies. Specifically in cinemas. Jia prefers visuals and interesting soundtracks, which is why she enjoys movies more than books. Jia buys lots of popcorn for herself and will not share until she's full β it's okay, though. Wonwoo always steals from her without getting caught.
α―β
ππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ They eat ramen together when they are lazy to cook. It's a simple and yummy meal for them and neither of them will complain.
Wonwoo and Jia are cat people. Cats on the streets need to be ready to be pet and fed every time these two pass by. It's automatic. They'll touch anything they find cute.
Jia introduced Wonwoo to Arcane since he's into animated shows and she thought he'd like it (he did and never recovered from the trauma).
α―β
πππππππ
Talker + Listener duo. This also goes both ways, but most of the time it's Jia talking.
πΉ.α KIM MINGYU // gyujia
α―β
ππππππ°πππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Mingyu is absolutely a golden retriever and brings out Jia's brighter side. He's the one who approached Jia first during their predebut period and encouraged her to befriend the rest of the Seventeen members. Overall, he's her number one bodyguard and one of her best friends.
α―β
π
ππππ πππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Mingyu was interested in Jia the moment he laid his eyes on her. It was almost like a scenario in which the extrovert adopts an introvert. Of course, without any second thoughts, he took the chance to approach her. Once everyone was leaving the building after the schedule was over, Mingyu approached the distant girl and striked a casual conversation.
βYo! What's your name?β Mingyu called, his hands tucked in his pockets as he nonchalantly approached Jia. He had to look cool and friendly for such a talented, untouchable girl.
Intimidating? Mean resting face? He didn't mind. Rather, he was intrigued by her mysterious aura. The more he talked to her, the more he was able to break her shy behavior. Eventually, Jia got comfortable with Mingyu and began to seek his presence - the only familiar face in the entire Pledis building.
α―β
π
π°πππ π°πππππππ°πππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Pre-debut Mingyu slightly panicked after seeing Jia clueless expression. Maybe she came from a prestigious family, which explained her distant behavior? Or maybe she didn't socialize because she thought the others were too immature? His mind swirled with a million thoughts as he quickly thought of an apology after embarrassing himself so bad.
Meanwhile, Jia's confused frown morphed into a faint smile and then just stared at him. She found it hilarious how he seemed to take his appearance so seriously, but she held in her giggles nevertheless. Seeing someone be so interested in being her friend brought a comforting warmth to her chest.
α―β
ποΏ½οΏ½π πππ ππππ πππ πππππ?
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ It was Mingyu who initiated their friendship. After their first small interaction, he gathered courage and spoke to her more often and even introduced her to the rest of his friends, which would eventually form their future group. He didn't feel embarrassed to bring her everywhere. In fact, he'd deal with most social interactions and waited for Jia to feel comfortable enough to step out of her shy zone.
Jia became more comfortable with Mingyu and the rest as time passed. Her shift in behavior became clear once she started small conversations with the other trainees and smiled more often. Mingyu felt proud and overjoyed after seeing how much his kind actions impacted someone else's life.
α―β
ππππ ππππ πππ ππ ππππ πππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ To Jia, Mingyu was the one that made Seventeen feel like home. When no one was there to include her, he made sure to bring her everywhere. She stepped out of her comfort zone thanks to his kindhearted actions, and from then, he's been like a caring older brother to her.
To Mingyu, Jia his confidence builder and one of his most trusted people. Maybe even more than that β like a family. He teases her and she always roasts back, but they also deeply care for each other. He doesn't feel well? Suddenly Jia is by his side with all the necessary care to treat his fever.
Not only that, but they're extremely competitive gym buddies. Who can lift the most? Who can run the most distance in the shortest time? Who can do the most burpees without a break? Who can hold a plank for the longest? Childish challenges emerge the moment they step into a gym together, suddenly competing for even the dumbest things. There is never any real bite behind their banter, just overdramatic and lighthearted fights.
α―β
ππππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ If Mingyu ever feels hungry, Jia will go straight to the kitchen and prepare his favorite dessert because she knows he's a big foodie. (In the end, her pastries make him lose his appetite, but he's grateful for the consideration.)
Get together just to post a dance tiktok of them looking fine as hell and flexing their muscles. They KNOW they're attractive and they're not afraid to bask in the compliments from fans. Huge confidence boost when they need it.
Gym visits! Competitive over EVERYTHING. After exercising, they always go to a local store and get a snack to compensate themselves for their hard work.
α―β
ππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Late midnight snack cravings!!! She brings snacks for Joshua but gives them to Mingyu if he's asleep. She has priorities, of course, but if Mingyu gets lucky, he'll have a few chips to snack on.
Mingyu watched Jia's live series of her cooking with Soonyoung and burst out laughing every time of second-hand embarrassment. It's definitely true that he stays for the entire live and looks forward to the next one.
She kinda yelled at him for his horrendous morning alarm that woke everyone in the dorms up (still does to this day and makes sure he remembers how annoying it used to be as a reminder to never do it again.)

Sunshine + Sunshine. Early Bird & Night Owl .
πΉ.α HANSOL VERNON CHWE // vernonia
α―β
ππππππ°πππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Calm and extroverted again. Vernon and Jia are each other's ragebait targets, which are often initiated by Jia when she's bored. Additionally, Vernon was one of her english teachers, which helped her become more fluent in the language with constant practice and listening. Overall, they give off a chaotic energy but have a lovely dynamic.
α―β
π
ππππ πππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Jia was introduced to Vernon through Joshua. They had common interests, and by that was just learning English. Since both of them were fluent and Jia needed help, it was natural that she'd come to them, but she picked Joshua more often.
However, when Vernon finally had the chance to talk to her, they'd usually spend extra time together just socializing. It helped Jia develop more confidence in talking to others while Vernon had the chance to teach her more about himself, random facts, and the english language.
Their meeting didn't feel forced at all. Rather, it was more natural. They took things at their own pace, and since both of them were very calm and Jia was super quiet during her pre-debut era, neither of them felt forced to push things further.
α―β
π
π°πππ π°πππππππ°πππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ βShe's very quiet,β Vernon shrugged as he talked to Joshua about his first time talking with Jia. βIt got awkward at times, but I think that once she's not as shy, we can become friends. Honestly? She's a vibe. It'd be fun to have another person who speaks English, and it's super cool that she's willing to learn new things.β
That day, Joshua also approached Jia to ask for her opinion about the boy, βHe's very easy to talk to. Calm, easygoing, and I didn't feel pressured to talk to him. That's all that comes to my mind for now. Wait, oppa, why are you asking me this? Are you going to snitch on me?!β
α―β
πππ πππ ππππ πππ πππππ?
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Started with language learning, and then they bonded over music. They had similar taste in music, therefore they recommended songs they liked to each other. Casual and simple conversations were a daily occurrence and deep talks in English were eventually added into their routine. That way, both learned more about themselves and the other.
The awkward walls between them shattered, leaving only a comfortable layer of friendship. Although they aren't best friends, they can always turn to each other if they need it.
α―β
ππππ ππππ πππ ππ ππππ πππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Vernon is Jia's personal translator and also her ragebait target. Whenever she struggles to remember English words, Vernon is right there to translate and improve her vocabulary... but he does forget his own language sometimes.
To Vernon, Jia is one of the people who brought home to him when he was the most far away from it. Having two members that speak english helps him reconnect with his roots β with the place that he was born in and the language he used to speak at home sometimes. Somehow, Jia knows more english slang than he does, which is hilarious. In addition, Jia is the one who taught him how to dance better and make his moves sharper. Although she wasn't a dance teacher, she offered her help whenever he needed it the most or their dance trainer couldn't help. She was and still is a shoulder he can rely on and vice versa.
α―β
ππππ°ππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Ragebait ragebait RAGEBAIT! They could be doing something ordinary when Jia suddenly feels like teasing and angering Vernon out of nowhere. It is SO hilarious and it happens at the most random moments. She could bring a bug to him and chase him around, or just make simple sarcastic comments to irritate him.
βI swear, phone addictions these days,β Jia briefly peered at Vernon and then looked away. βSeriously, these kids can't go one day without their phones.β
Vernon widened his eyes and blinked. He snapped his head towards her and made strong eye contact, appalled by her comment. βYou just put your phone down because you need to charge it! Also, I'm twenty-seven, and this is my phone?!β
To make up for her annoying behavior, Jia buys Vernon his favorite food. He can't stay mad at her for so long after she shows her kindness for him.
α―β
ππππππ
ΛΚβ‘ΙΛ Game nights with Wonwoo and Vernon. Jia's worst nightmare. Played once and then never played again because they're insufferable and she was the only one raging. Vernon got his satisfactory revenge without even trying.
Shopping for albums is also a common occurrence. Not necessarily K-pop, but of music in general. They have a wide variety of musical artists to discuss about and many albums to choose from.
Jia invited Vernon to her baking weverse live series one time and he refused to go again.
α―β
πππππππ
Annoying + annoyed . Loves to tease + her unfortunate target .

Tried to be more original and changed my username to jiaelune because "svt-jia" is NOT giving. I feel like this new username fits Jia because she's a night owl and loves the moon. Her representative emoji being a sun has nothing to do w this (it's a sun because she's the member that smiles the most/arguably the kindest one). Good part is that I have an original username (the crowd cheered)... downside is that I have to change all of the credits to jiaelune in my postsπ

ΰ£ͺ Φ΄ΦΆΦΈβΎ. β SEVENTEEN: JIA'S PREDEBUT ARCHIVES [in_your_arms.mp4] Β© jiaelune on tumblr . 2025
β€· masterlist . ( π ) jia's predebut archives
The young girl stood in front of her older sister's room. She hesitated for a moment, knowing that Haewon had been in a terrible mood recently. The thoughts swirled in her head, as there was a possibility her presence wouldn't be welcome at all.
She clutched the letter in her hands and held it tightly against her chest. Haewon's distant behavior had been worrying her for the past week, so perhaps she needed a bit of encouragement from her family.
Eventually, she made up her mind and knocked on the door. Three times, softly. The faint knocks were barely audible yet undeniably present. Shuffling could be heard from the other room, which was probably Haewon organizing her room for whoever wanted to pay her a visit.
The door opened and revealed the teenager. Dark circles under her eyes with certain exhaustion, messy hair from the long nap she took three hours ago, and wrinkled pajamas she'd worn all day. "Hee-Young?"
"Eonni," she shyly stepped inside Haewon's room and sat on her bed. "I don't know. You're away all day and we haven't talked in weeks. I thought you promised you'd come to my volleyball game? And that we'd go out to eat patbingsu after? That was two months ago. I don't understand."
"I've been busy, I'm sorry," Haewon replied. She briefly looked at the letter on Hee-Young's hand and couldn't help but ask. "What's that?"
"It's for you. Your birthday is in a week," Hee-Young handed Haewon the letter she wrote. "I wanted to give it early. Don't open it yet. Open it when you need to."
"Need to?" Haewon's lips slightly curved up into a faint, teasing smile. "What's all of this about? Are you going to roast me? Is that why you're shy?"
But the younger girl didn't laugh nor smile. She pursed her lips together and looked down at her hand, her hair falling over her weary face. Haewon immediately noticed her sister's odd behavior and moved closer to her. She tenderly wrapped her arms around her shoulders and pulled her closer.
"Hee-Young? What's going on?" Haewon asked, her tone patient yet lingering with concern. She rubbed her sister's arm and tried to make eye contact with her. "Hey, hey. What's wrong?"
Hee-Young rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and stayed silent, but the unintentional, loud sobs quickly betrayed her intentions to hide her emotions. Tears flowed and rolled down her face, and her sobs turned into cries.
Haewon panicked and wrapped her arms around her sister immediately, forming a protective shield with her arms. The sound of her sister's cries cut straight through her heart and she couldn't bear listening to her painful sobs anymore.
"I know you probably think of me as a burden, but you know I love you, right?" Hee-Young returned the embrace and hid her head on Haewon's shoulder, unintentionally staining the older girl's shirt with tears. "Eonni, you don't have to come with me to every event, but I just want to spend time with you. You're disappearing every day and sometimes come home late, and you say these excuses just to not make us worry... But I don't believe you! I care!"
"You're tired, you stay in your room all day, and I'm just... alone," Hee-Young confessed. "Mom and Dad never play with me because they're busy with work. I don't have anyone to talk to..."
Haewon waited until her younger sister finished speaking and then asked, "What about your friends?"
"They don't invite me to hang out."
Haewon paused and stared at the seven-year-old girl. Her grip on her loosened as she stared at her tear-stained face. Her gaze softened and she brushed a strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ears.
She let go of her and just stared. As pitiful as it was, Haewon could see a great part of herself in her. The lonely child hidden beneath the mask of perfection and ambition. They were so different yet so alike at the same time.
"Hee-Young," Haewon pulled the girl into another hug again. "I'm so sorry. There have been many things going on for me and... I know I'm not the best sister you could have. I'm sorry I didn't go..."
Hee-Young remained sobbing silently and let herself be embraced by the comforting warmth of her family. Her cries subsided and faded into faint sniffles. She whispered, "Eonni?"
"What's wrong?" Haewon answered.
"Why do you always come home so late?"
Haewon contemplated her two choices. She could tell the truth, but her sister might accidentally blurt it out to her parents. Or she could lie and say an excuse the girl wouldn't believe.
She sighed, "Promise not to tell mom and dad?"
"I promise!" Hee-Young nodded.
Haewon finally admitted the truth. Despite her initial hesitation, she knew she could trust her sister with her secrets, "I'm training to become an idol."
Hee-Young's face dropped. Neither of them said anything after Haewon's confession. The teenager grew uncomfortable and fidgeted with her fingers, unsure of what her little sister would say.
However, she was met with pleasant support. The sadness in her eyes temporarily washed away, replaced with newfound excitement and pride, "Idol? An idol? Really?! You're training to become an idol?! Those famous singers they play on the TV?!"
"Shhh, sh, sh, sh," Haewon smiled and playfully shushed her sister. It felt relieving to finally have someone who understood and supported her dreams. "Yes, but I'm still training. You need to keep this from mom and dad, okay? They can't know about this."
"That's why you asked them what they'd think if you became a singer?!"
"Yeah, precisely," Haewon nodded. "But they don't like the idea. To them, it's just a hobby. But for me, it's a passion. So this is why I need you to keep this secret from them, alright? It's between you and me."
Hee-Young nodded. Her energy was contagious, and Haewon couldn't hide the smile forming on her lips. "Once I debut, I'll take you out to eat tteokkbokki, patbingsu, and I'll we'll go shopping. How does that sound?"
"Whatβ Really?!" Hee-Young was practically bursting with joy. Her eyes widened, a bright glow of happiness sparking in her brown irises. A gleeful smile spread on her lips. "Can we also go to the arcade? And maybe get cotton candy too?!"
"We'll see about that," Haewon giggled. "One day, it'll happen. I believe it will. I'll make it happen. And I'll buy you tickets for my concert."
The two sisters shared a heartwarming moment. Haewon found herself in a better mood, and suddenly, all of the stress of being a trainee vanished. Perhaps all she needed was support. Support from those she truly cares for. If Hee-Young believed in her, she should believe in herself too. Being an inspiration and good role model for her younger sister encouraged her to continue, and she'd do anything to make her dreams come true.
"Can I open the letter now?" Haewon asked, but the girl immediately shook her head. "Why not?"
"Open it when you feel sad," Hee-Young said. "At the right time."
She smiled. "Alright. I will."

The sun cast a warm glow through the soft cotton curtains, its light seeping through the windows and into Haewon's room. The girl woke up abruptly at the sound of her alarm, signaling it was time for her to leave her house and head to her daily training schedule at Pledis Entertainment.
In order to chase her dreams, Haewon made the tough decision of dropping out of school. She had an internal conflict over her education or her passion to become a singer, but eventually, she chose her dedication to her dreams and sacrificed her education. However, her parents weren't aware of this, and she knew they'd be pissed if she were to ever confess that.
After oversleeping for around twenty minutes, Haewon prepared herself in a hurry and a bad mood. She dressed herself at a rapid speed and packed her bag with the necessary items for the day. Her footsteps were silent, almost cautious, as she'd woken up earlier than usual to start practicing before the other trainees even arrived. Haewon was willing to go through such drastic lengths in order to debut and be successful one day. If she couldn't continue her education, she had to continue her passion.
With only a granola bar and strawberry milk as breakfast, she opened the door and silently exited her home. She adjusted her earphones and played upbeat music to diminish her sleepiness and fully wake up to prepare for her rigid schedule.
Pledis Entertainment had only a thirty-minute distance from Haewon's house. The taxi dropped her off a few blocks away, leaving only a five-minute walk to the building.
The staff asked for her identification and allowed her inside. Haewon headed straight towards the green room and opened the door, revealing an empty practice room devoid of any trainees. Seeing this, Haewon smiled. It meant she'd have about two hours of focused practice.
She connected her phone to the speaker with permission from the sound crew and picked a song she knew the choreography to. On her last monthly evaluation, the judges and company executives suggested she improved the flow in her dance and rapping skills. Her vocals were exceptional. However, she still needed to improve.
The music played, and she rehearsed the dance slowly and focused on the details at first. From the way her arms needed to be sharper to the stronger power she needed to use on her legs, her nitpicking never subsided, always striving for perfection.
Time passed, and Haewon only focused on herself, the repeating rhythm of the music and her sharp footsteps being the only sounds echoing throughout the empty room. Haewon eventually grew tired as the minutes flew by and decided to take a short break.
She sat down on one of the benches, fanning herself with her t-shirt to reduce the heat. Her hair clung to her face and her neck as the sweat spread throughout her body after the intense practice. She remained seated, calmly shifting her gaze throughout the room for no apparent reason.
At first, she thought her vision tricked her, but when she saw a male figure shyly enter the practice room, she knew her time alone was over. Instead of welcoming the new person, she kept to herself and pretended not to notice them, thinking it'd be less awkward if they didn't talk.
It seemed that the boy had other plans, "Hello? Kang Haewon-ssi?"
Haewon lifted her gaze and fully made eye contact with the kind male. Her lips automatically morphed into a faint, kind smile as she stood up and shook his hand with both of hers, giving him a slight bow. "Hello, Jisoo oppa."
His eyes widened, taken aback by the formal introduction. After all, it was his first time actually having a conversation with a girl face to face, "Hey."
They fell into an awkward silence. Haewon let go of Joshua's hand and glanced around the room to try and focus on something else. Joshua didn't know how to continue the conversation, until he said:
"I saw you dancing earlier. You're very good."
Haewon smiled at his compliment, but she couldn't stop the embarrassed blush from spreading across her cheeks. "Thanks. I worked hard."
Silence fell upon them again, neither of them knowing what to do next. Haewon nervously fidgeted with her fingers and fixed the fabric of her clothing, seeking a distraction.
"You're here early," Joshua commented to start a new topic. "Soβ Um..."
"I skipped school today," Haewon answered without shame at all. She didn't want to overshare too many oersonal details, "Just... too much pressure, to keep it brief."
The boy's eyes slightly widened at her confession, "Your parents are okay with that?"
She shook her head, "No, they're not. That's why it's a secret. They don't support my dreams of becoming an idol too β to them, singing is just a hobby."
Although her parents were proud of her achievements and encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and try new things she could show off, they prioritized education over anything else.
"I understand," Joshua hummed in acknowledgment. He didn't know how to feel about that. "It's pretty hard to have unsupportive parents." Then, he remained silent and avoided eye contact. For some reason, he felt super shy around her.
"Uh... I saw you speak english with Vernon," Haewon said. Since the boy was too shy to speak, she decided to start a new conversation. "I'm practicing english, but my accent isn't that good yet. I want to become more fluent. I was wondering if you could teach me?"
Joshua was delighted to hear her request. His eyes sparked with excitement as she commented on his english. It'd be amazing to help her become more fluent in a foreign language, and he took a moment to admire her dedication before he nodded and agreed.
"Yes, of course!" He grinned, the smile wide enough to reach his soft eyes.
Haewon was momentarily charmed by his beautiful, warm smile. It was contagious and she found herself matching his vibe. She was a bit intimidated at first, but Joshua's safe aura made her feel at ease.
Maybe she'd make a new friend β it was time she stopped clinging to Mingyu and making him handle social interactions for her.

The young teenager thanked the cashier for the ice cream and stepped out of the store. She was welcomed by the scorching sun of the hot summer day and a sweaty crowd of busy people and loud teenagers. Overwhelmed by the unbearable sound pollution, she put on her earphones and turned up the volume of her music to the highest setting.
She enjoyed her ice cream on her way home, although her fingers got sticky due to the sweet strawberry syrup. The song's lyrics blocked out all distractions and calmed down her mind, and Haewon subconsciously hummed to the melody.
A formal businesswoman wearing a long black suit passed by. Haewon didn't pay attention at all and continued humming, except she noticed the suit and could only think about how uncomfortable the woman must be. It was another stranger she shouldn't worry about.
Her peaceful time, however, was interrupted by the same woman. She'd turned around and hastily grabbed Haewon's shoulder, making her girl flinch and immediately swat her hand at the person to push them away.
"I'm so sorry!" She bowed and apologized after realizing the woman who she accidentally hit was an adult. "I'm deeply sorry."
"Don't worry about it," the businesswoman strangely dismissed Haewon's concerns, igniting a spark of suspicion from the young girl. "Do you have an agency?"
Haewon stopped to think about her words. She wasn't sure what this woman was talking about, nor what her purpose was. "No?"
The older woman took out a card and handed it to Haewon without any explanation. Then, she waited for her to read it, and once Haewon finished, she spoke. "Please consider auditioning for Pledis Entertainment. You have potential to be a successful idol in the industry."
Haewon was about to speak, but the woman put on a black cap and lowered her gaze. She walked off without saying another word while glancing around at the other people, perhaps searching to recruit more talented individuals. The girl called out to her, but she didn't turn around.
"What is this?!" She demanded an explanation, yet received no answer. She tried one more time, "Hello?!"
Since she didn't receive an answer, Haewon sat on a bench near a park and just stared at the card in her hands. There was an address and a phone number along with the name of the agency. Pledis Entertainment. It seemed suspicious, but strangely legit.
She couldn't stop looking at the card and reminiscing the interaction on her way home. Her focus was on the card instead of her music, her eyes glued to the company's name and address. Should she take the chance? Is it a scam? She heard about kids who were abducted by schemes like these, so she had every reason to be wary. Why did that woman even talk to her?
It was lively and crowded on the streets. As a bunch of teenagers on bicycles went by, Haewon's eyes instinctively went to them. She blankly stared at them, her gaze paired with a faint longing.
Her hand landed on the door's handle and she pushed it open with a slight creak. She stepped inside and took off her shoes, greeted by the cool breeze of the fresh air conditioner. She held the card in her hands and approached her parents and younger sister in the living room.
"Mom? Dad?" Haewon fidgeted with the card and decided to keep it hidden. She smoothly slipped it inside her pockets. "Can I ask a question?"
"You're back already?" her mom asked and made space on the couch for Haewon, her smile bright. "Of course. Come here. Sit down."
She nodded and sat between her parents, fidgeting with her fingers. Her mom set her hand on her shoulder, and Haewon finally let it out, "How would you react if I told you I want to become a singer?"
The lively atmosphere crushed in an instant after the idea was brought up. Her mother's smile slowly faded away and her parents exchanged unreadable expressions. Haewon couldn't figure out their exact thoughts, but judging by the way they didn't voice their support, she assumed they weren't fond of the idea.
"You know that singing is just a hobby, right?" Her father asked. "Nothing more than a hobby, just like your aerial silk classes. Didn't you say you want to become a veterinarian when you grow up? That job pays well, and you'll get to work with animals and medicine."
"Well, I said that I'd become a veterinarian in case I couldn't become an aerial silks teacher," Haewon replied. "You didn't like it when I said that either. You don't want me to be a teacher."
"Dear, I know you like singing, but it's just a phase you'll grow out of," Her mom sighed. She crossed her arms and leaned back on the couch, trying to reason with her daughter. "That's... not a real job. Make us proud, okay?"
"Actually, forget about singing. I suggest you improve your grades. Universities won't accept an eighty-five average." Her father chimed in and tried to give her a lecture. "Your sister is doing amazing and she's a role model in her classroom. Why can't you do that too?"
Haewon knew that arguing with her parents would be pointless β after all, she was taught to respect adults, and they had full authority over her. She nodded and let out a hum of acknowledgement, "I'll keep trying my best."
"I hope you do," her mother rubbed her back. "We love you, and please understand that we want the best for you, even if you don't believe it's true."
"I'll become a veterinarian," Haewon stated and stood up from the couch to head towards her room. "I'm a little tired. Thanks for your opinions, they helped me a lot."
Without casting a glance to her parents, she stepped inside her room and locked the door. She leaned against the wall and took out the card she received from the businesswoman a few hours ago. The object was a constant reminder of the opportunity lying right ahead for her β even the stranger told her she had potential. She could take it, but it'd disappoint her parents if they ever found out. However, if she didn't, she'd be stuck with a future she dreaded.
To her, the answer was more than clear.

Haewon stood outside the company, umbrella in her hand to shield herself from the relentless pouring of the rain. Her heart beat fast against her chest, anxiety coursing throughout her veins. Her legs refused to move for a second. The moment felt unreal, and she never thought she'd actually accept their casting.
"Is this really legit? It's pretty small for a company," She asked herself as she looked at the paper she was holding. "I mean, it looks real..."
In all honesty, although she was scouted and given an opportunity to audition and chase her dreams, she was really anxious. The company didn't seem popular, much less promising, but it was the first time she was ever scouted β the first time someone saw her potential. Surely, it was worth a try?
Haewon shyly opened the door and peeked inside. The hold she had on the handle loosened, and she stepped outside to calm down. She whined, "I can't do this! I can't, I can't, I can't..."
It was enough. She was done being afraid. She gathered her courage and took a deep breath to calm down her sweaty, shaky hands. This could be her only chance to prove her worth and she didn't want to waste the opportunity. She pushed away all of her thoughts and stepped inside with feigned confidence.
The space inside was narrow and fitted for a small company. The staff were busy working, the computers' faint glow reflecting on their faces. She stepped forward and silently announced her presence, heading further inside the lobby.
"Hello, um, I was casted," Haewon showed the staff member her audition schedule and waited for them to give her the directions. "It's today β my audition, I mean."
The proceedings went smoothly. She was told to place her belongings in a locker, and then she was led through the narrow hallways to where the physical auditions would take place. There was a row of chairs by the wall, and since she was the only one at the moment, she took the chair closest to the door.
The girl sat still on her chair and glanced around the room. The walls were a dark color, and the hallways were quite small. It was an underground company, but not underwhelming. A few trainees passed by and curiously looked at her, but she tried to ignore their stares and focus on herself.
She let out a breathy laugh, her nervousness suddenly returning, "Wow, I'm so nervous..."
The door opened, and the staff called for her, signaling it was her turn to present. She stood up and walked inside the room, greeted by a dance practice room with flashy green walls. The sound crew was adjusting the speaker and volume, and there was a microphone set on top of a chair.
Haewon bowed and kindly greeted the judges. She shyly approached the microphone with an awkward smile, but before she picked it up, she took a deep breath to steady her voice and calm down. After all, the judges seemed to be quite strict, based on the looks on their faces.
"Welcome," the man who seemed to be the company's CEO greeted her. He was in the middle of two other judges, writing down observations on the paper form in front of him.
"Hello," she bowed, keeping the microphone close to her. Haewon introduced herself, having already prepared a script, "I'm Kang Haewon, and I'm 14 years old."
"Kang Haewon," a woman repeated. Her eyes scanned the girl and observed her behavior. She leaned forward, her eyes focused on Haewon, "You're so young. Welcome."
Haewon smiled and nodded. Since the judge didn't say anything else, Haewon assumed she was supposed to continue her introduction. "I have prepared a song for my audition. Today, I'll sing Rolling In The Deep by Adele."
"That's a challenging song," the same woman commented, mildly impressed by the choice. She appeared to be a professional vocal trainer. "Good luck."
The CEO signaled the sound crew to play the track, and soon enough, she received the signal to start. Haewon inhaled deeply and opened her mouth to sing. At first, her vocals were shaky, but as the song continued, she felt her confidence spark again, the lyrics naturally flowing out of her mouth in a melodic tune.
The three judges had their eyes on Haewon, occasionally writing their observations. However, the vocal trainer stared at Haewon throughout the entire audition, paying close attention to her technique and flow. In the end, she noted all her observations from Haewon's performance.
They talked amongst themselves for a whole minute after the song ended. Haewon bit the inside of her lip and let her eyes wander across the room, trying to focus on something else. She couldn't hear any of their words, and she was worried her performance hadn't met their expectations.
"Kang Haewon," the woman called, and the girl immediately focused on her. "How long have you been singing for?"
"I started singing four years ago when I was ten," she explained.
"I see," the vocal trainer nodded. "Your performance was good. Your voice was strained during the start, and your technique wasn't perfect, but the way you delivered is surprising for someone so young."
Haewon didn't know if that was supposed to be a compliment, but she decided to take it as one. "Thank you very much."
The man leaned closer to hear what the woman whispered to him, and then he spoke next. He made eye contact with Haewon, which made her slightly nervous, "Could you try singing another song? Or re-do your your performance?"
They wanted to hear her sing again. That was more than enough for Haewon to earn her confidence back. This time, she was going to make sure her voice didn't strain or waver, "Absolutely!"
Her performance began again. This time, she sang with newfound confidence and enthusiasm, eager to showcase the true potential of her hard work. The lyrics flowed out of her mouth with ease, the high notes coming off as powerful yet slightly strained. Although her vocals weren't perfect, the judges had to admit that her voice was impressive for someone so young.
The song ended, a few hums of amazement and acknowledgment coming out from the judges' mouths. The air was tense with uncertainty, but there was a slight smile on the vocal trainer's face that eased her nerves.
Haewon received more feedback from the judges and answered any questions they had. She interpreted their interactions as a good sign, and when it was her time to leave, she couldn't help but skip down the street, her umbrella tight on her hand to protect herself from the relentless rain.
