Hey Americans! If you buy things from overseas, as of August 22 you probably don’t anymore.

Most foreign postal services have paused shipping of packages under $800 to the USA. You will hear that it’s “because of tariffs,” but that’s not exactly true.

It’s because the US:

Has not given anyone a way to pay those tariffs and

Has not been clear on what will ACTUALLY have to be paid. (The country’s tariff has been floated, but a US$80 flat fee has also been floated.

Many countries require people to pay tariffs when they receive a package. That’s fine. But you have to give people a way to pay the damn tariff. And there isn’t a way to do so. Apparently there isn’t even a PLAN for a way to do so.

So: if you have been buying from Etsy or eBay or a little shop overseas, if you subscribe to a foreign magazine, if you are an immigrant and you buy food from home via mail, now you will need to fly there and bring it home. Of course, the people who can afford that are also the ones responsible for this dumb policy.

My mother is the sweetest thing ever, she’s super supportive of my Scarecrow collection and she happened upon this old Batman “Look and Find” children’s book for me at a local thrift store. The book is a little beaten up, but the inside pages are still beautiful!

Scarecrow even has his own two page spread, full of spooky skulls and comic references! The Riddler has his own page too, I might scan that one if anyone’s interested. (and there’s a page full of Selina’s cats that made me think of @enygmass) I absolutely love this book 🎃 It’s a riot~

a few nights ago lotus and poison, iconic performers and trans women, were viciously attacked at legends gay nightclub. nobody intervened in a supposed community space. please help cover their medical expenses and show them they are not alone. they were absolutely let down, and what kind of community doesn't help its most vulnerable? consider showing them support both emotionally and financially after this dual trauma of abuse and neglect.

So. I know I have e-begged on here a lot recently, and i apologize deeply for doing so. thank you to everyone who has given me money here and there for things like cancer treatment meds and groceries, but I'm dealing with an emergency and don't know what else to do. My roommate and I are both employed at the moment (her full time, me doing 4 different freelance jobs) to keep things afloat, but my oncologist here needs to me to leave the island I'm on to get a PET scan and a bone marrow biopsy, which will cost me 700 dollars - 700 dollars I absolutely do not have.

my health has been Rapidly Deteriorating since last winter and I'm struggling to live. i can't eat more than 800 calories or so most days, throw up most of my meals, can barely stay awake, etc, and this new cost on top of what I'm already dealing with is spirit breaking to say the least. a proper diagnosis would at least put me on the right track towards potentially getting better, but i'm genuinely worried I'm going to die.
