Jimmy Ray Deleon

Hello! My name is Jimmy Ray Deleon! If you want you could call me J.R. I am 20 years old with a lot of energy. I am a full-time student at Suny Orange studying New Media. At the moment I work 3 jobs which include Urban Air, Pure Terror Scream Park, and Orange County Airport. I don't ever have a normal week but somehow I make it work and have fun doing it. I live in Campbell Hall right next to Otterkill gulf (no I don't work there haha). If you have been to the castle fun center you might recognize me. I was the supervisor there for 3 years. I love to volunteer my time. I go to my church every week to help do maintenance and any other tech things they need like setting up audio and video for our drive-in mass. I also volunteer at Goshen, and Washingtonville High Schools to help set up the tech for their musicals. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I went to Goshen high school and that is where I found my pashing for theater tech. I was the soundboard operator all four years of high school. My interest besides media is going on trips and exploring new places. The last movie I watched was Mid-90’s. The last book I've looked through was my Intermediate Algebra Thirteenth Edition. I don't recommend it. The last thing I created was an audio and video system for my church. My last meal would be a top sirloin steak with mashed potatoes.

Superhero
A superhero is an extraordinary human being with superhuman powers that a normal human being does not possess; the superhero is deemed to have heroic character, usually brave, courageous, and fearless. Mostly they dress in a costume that distinguishes them from other human beings. A superhero protects the people of the planet; any harm that comes their way, the superhero usually takes care of it instantly. Superheroes are occasionally very strong, and they have a minimum intensity at which they begin to be conscious of the stimulus of pain.
In the city lives a mysterious man who resides as a street person, he is a tall man of approximately 9 feet tall and has huge triceps and biceps not familiar with other human beings features. He has extraordinary strength that exceeded human understanding. The mysterious man is capable of flying without necessarily needing wings or a parachute. He also has a very high speed where he can move from one place to another in the shortest time possible. Many refer him to as Mr. Flavor as his superhero title, and his official name is Oraimo Webhorn.
Mr. Flavor is 50 years of age and was born in California on 7th July 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. John Webhorn, who were well-known farmers. He is a brother to one sister and two brothers; he is the youngest of them all. Mr. Flavor's siblings are not like him; they seem like normal human beings, so do his parents. They all live happily and love each other so much. During his childhood, Mr. Flavor grew as a normal child until the age of 10, when his parents started noticing his body's changes. For a boy his age, he was so masculine and too strong that he would lift heavy logs. Other students were fascinated by this and occasionally made him lift strong and heavy things for pleasure. He lifted his neighbor's truck, which shocked everyone.
The teachers started worrying about Flavor's behavior since he stopped concentrating on his studies. Other students were distracted as they constantly insisted on seeing Flavor's strength while lifting heavy things. His parents were alarmed about the situation in school. They advised Flavor to focus on his studies and not use his strength for recreational purposes but rather for people's benefit, such as rescuing and saving lives. Flavor decided to take heed of his parent's advice and help people, especially where it involved using his strength. During his adolescence, his body started changing drastically he height doubled, and he started figuring that he could do more things with his body.
Flavor performed well in his studies and was among the best students in his class. He used to attend contests and word spellings where he always emerged the winner. Flavor also participated in school co-curricular activities; he played soccer, javelin, high jump, and basketball. His favorite sport was the javelin, but he also enjoyed the other sports. He later joined California high school, where his love for javelin gained more interest, and he ended up playing for the national team. Flavor was a social person and had very many friends, which led to him being elected as the school president. Flavor's superhuman abilities began as a little boy and continued to grow and discovering them as he grew up. Flavor is regarded as a superhero in the city; his acts are beyond our understanding, and he has helped the people greatly and continues to do so. Once robbers robbed a bank and the robbers held hostage captive, the police could not stop the robbers since they had threatened to kill the hostages if the police took any action to stop the burglary.
As earlier said, Mr. Flavor is very tall, masculine; he has long feet and arms and has a gigantic body. His superpowers can fly, very strong, have very high speed, great sensing skills, and can breathe underwater. Mr. Flavor dresses in a costume that is leather, black pants, and a cape that covers his back, chest, and arms and connects to the neck. Mr. Flavor's mind is quite different from other people's minds, where he interpreted solutions in-depth even while in school. He took the shortest time to solve solutions. At a tender age, he had the capability of solving questions for other levels of education. Before realizing that it was a power he possessed, his parents had taken him while young to several hospitals, but all doctors said he seemed normal, and nothing was wrong with him.
Mr. Flavor also has a heart; therefore, he is emotional. He is always happy, kind and gets hurt when people wrong him or take advantage of him. No one has ever seen Mr. Flavor's tears, so it is not clear if he sheds tears or gets angry. Flavor is well known for supporting and enhancing peace, unity, and harmony. He advocates that living in harmony with no conflicts is very healthy for relationships and the citizens of a nation. Mr. Flavor aims at attaining equality of all citizens as this leads to conflicts amongst people; hence peace is not attained. Another of Flavor's pursuits is to see the end of terrorism attacks, making people live in fear. Flavor has made sure all citizens receive equal treatment as people recognize that they are all human beings regardless of race, status.
Terrorism attacks seem to have decreased in the city since the terrorists are afraid that Flavor will get hold of them, and he is always stopping their missions. One time terrorists used the waterway to transport a nuclear fusion to the city, but Flavor arrived and crashed the ship, and the bomb exploded in the water; hence there were no casualties. In the DC universes, Mr. Flavor is best linked to Superman as they are both super strong and very fast, and they help fight crimes and prevent harm from reaching the citizens. They both dress in outstanding costumes that distinguish them in the eyes of the people.
Mr. Flavor continues to protect the city's people, but time also passes by, and he is getting older. The city has always been safe as people know that Mr. Flavor is there to takedown any harm. At the age of 80, terrorists attacked Mr. Flavor as his weakness was figured out by terrorists trying to eliminate him for always disrupting their plans. Mr. Flavor's weakness was that he would lose all his supernatural powers when pierced on his chest with a brown, golden sword. The terrorists attacked him and pierced his chest severally, and set an attack on the city. The bomb exploded in a building that had many people in it, and Mr. Flavor flew to help, but now his strength was weakening, and could not save everybody; he struggled and ended up removing the building from where it was and took it far away, and that is how he perished from the burns. Mr. Flavor is honored and remembered in people's lives for the impact he made on their lives. The day Mr. Flavor died has been made a holiday in the city to remember him and continue honoring him for what he did. Schools, hospitals, and streets are named after Mr. Flavor; all generations will forever cherish him. Young people have printed sweaters and shirts with Mr. Flavor's picture and also dressing in his costume.

Blog #004 Animated Films: Forgotten & Overlooked Cartoon uh-huh Movies
Watership Down, violent movie is about a group of rabbits who are forced from their warren.  They set out together facing obstacles to establish a new home and society.  Living in their natural wild environment with burrows, they possess their own culture.  They know about the importance of their population.  They want to grow.  They discuss how important having a female rabbit for mating is.  They need a female rabbit to survive.  The theme of exile, survival, heroism, leadership, political responsibility as the group of rabbit look for their forever home.  They want to be free from oppression and fear and live in peace with each other.
The fantastic planet is a violent movie. The Draags, blue giants,  have control over the Oms population.  It is unfair for the Omns.  They are being attacked and killed.
The Oms are clearly domesticated and kept as pets for entertainment.  The Draags maintain a technologically and spiritually advanced society.  Terr was kept as a pet since he was a baby.  Terr escape with a learning device.  He meets the Oms, which are a small tribal group.  They love having a lot of kids.  Terr help and educate the Oms to make changes in their world so they can live in peace.  Terr showed bravery.  It shed light on how abuse and oppression operate in human society.  They use knowledge and technology to control and manipulate.  Draags eventually realize the value the Oms have, and that together they can both be better.  People can coexist, even if they are different.  They had division, discrimination and fear of unknown.
In Watership Down, I believe it does not have a historical lesson modeled on an event.  I did some research, and think that the author, Richard Adams,  wrote about his fellow soldiers as he was making the novel.  The book is mainly about survival, strength  and persistence, and now in 2020 that message still matters.
Fantastic Planet is considered to be an allegory about animal rights and human rights, as well as racism.  Roles are being reversed in this film.  The lesson learned is how you would feel if you were treated unfairly.
Yes, the Oms are successful.  The Oms learn and work together to survive.  The Oms try to compromise with each other when they discover that the Draags are there to dominate all the Oms.  At a moment in the film, they kill one Draag.  The Draags eventually realize the actual potential the humans really have.
Hazel is a great leader because of his bravery, intelligence and his admirability.  He is very likable and the viewer can relate to someone in their life like that.  He is sincere and hard working.  Hazel has the ability to help her community.  Hazel thinks for the group.  He utilizes each rabbit in the group in order to best benefit them all.  Each rabbit uses his special talent to help the other and improve their society.  Hazel works as a team.
General Woundwort is fearless, cunning and lacks mercy and kindness.  Woundwort is a violent dangerous villain with a strong belief system.  He led an attack to destroy the Watership warren as an act of revenge.  Some of his rabbits were terrified of him and afraid to take initiative.  The one that took initiative to leave was rejected and later punished.  Woundwort lost a few good rabbits and found it difficult to replace them.  This did not help him and his community.
PETA helps animals every year.  They work together in helping animals in their community and all around the world.  They fight for what is right.  They protest for what they believe is right.  They care for unwanted animals.  Their slogan is Animals are not ours to experiment in, eat, wear, use for entertainment,  or abuse in any other way.

Cinematic Torture
Irreversible, which I am giving 3 stars out of 5 was dark, depressing, and disturbing. My opinion: It’s not for everyone (obviously). Irreversible was played to us in reverse. The film is told backward, starting with the final credits, then the aftermath of the crime, the murder at the club, the men searching for the pimp, the rape, the party, and so on. Two other films have used this like Betrayal (Harold Pinter's) the story of a love affair that ends (begins) in treachery, and Memento (Christopher Nolan's), which begins with the solution to a murder and tracks backward. If it were told in chronological order, we would meet a couple very much in love Alex and Marcus. We would first see them relaxed and playful in bed, having sex, and sharing time. Alex and Marcus were married in real life at the time the film was made and are at ease with each other. Then we would see them at a party, where we would meet Marcus' best friend, Pierre who was once in love with Alex. Then we would follow Alex as she walks alone into a subway tunnel, where she is accosted by Le Tenia, a pimp who brutally and mercilessly rapes and beats her in a stationary-camera shot that goes on and on and never cuts away (43:00-54:00). We would then follow Marcus and Pierre in a search for La Tenia, which leads to a club named the Rectum, where a man mistaken for La Tenia is beaten brutally in a shot that goes on and on and never cuts away. At the beginning of the movie (or end 3:22-30:00) the sound whines and hums, the camera spins in all directions, disorientating and showing glimpses of the scene. Dialogue is sparse, the same lines being repeated over and over again. All that made me feel dizzy especially when reading when the camera was all over the place. I was really shocked with the specific scene in the subway (43:00-54:00). The acting was top notch but I don’t know if that level of gruesome was required. I guess it was to shows what rape actually is. The camera looks steady on a woman as she is raped and beaten for several long, minutes Overall it's a gruesome scene and left me sick to my stomach.  This is reality. Things like this happen every day. Watching it is horrible yes, but even more horrible is the idea that real people must experience these events in the real world. This is what makes this such a disturbing and powerful movie. Her boyfriend Marcus and his best friend Pierre, who also dated Alex, hunt for revenge.  What's crazy is that Marcus is not in the right set of mind. He was drunk and was using drugs all night. But on top of that justice was not served and an innocent life was taken.  Alex was pregnant, but nobody knew, not even Marcus. The acting was great. Everything was natural between the 3 main characters. Monica Bellucci does a great job as Alex. Monica Bellucci had a difficult part, conveying the beauty, intelligence, womanliness, emotion, and despair of Alex in a way that is always believable. Dupontel who is often overlooked. He is sad, smart, witty, and ultimately disturbed. Cassel carries most of the film, emitting charm, energy, fear, shock, humor, and weakness. I would recommend this film. But like I said before, It’s not for everyone. Just watch it with an open mind and give it a try.

Blog #2
Identify three stereotypes that female characters possess traditionally which are broken by the protagonist in the film for Frida and Black Swan?
Traditionally, women characters are perceived as being docile, domesticated, and feminine.
Frida, a political activist, loved to paint. Frida’s self portraits demonstrated her feelings and losses.  Frida spoke about her miscarriage through her paintings. Frida’s work always embodied the challenges of being a woman. By painting her own story she was able to communicate how she felt. Frida also had a masculine side. Frida dressed like a man in a portrait, won tequila challenges against men, and smoked in bars among other men. Frida refuses to alter her masculine features, including trimming her mustache and plucking her eyebrows. Frida even cut her hair to look like a boy. Frida embraced her flaws. Frida’s image remains a light for women who feel dictated to or shamed by narrow social constructs.  Frida broke those barriers.
Frida was an intelligent female in a society that wanted women to be pretty, submissive, and mothers.
Ballerinas are perceived as strong, powerful, perfectionists and delicate butterflies. She was exactly the opposite. Nina was a psycho. Nina’s drives herself to madness and physical harm to achieve greatness. Nina’s anxiety and hallucinations are scary. Nina also has an eating disorder. Nina is anorexic and bulimic, which is unhealthy. Nina took drastic measures to obtain a ballerina body type. Nina destroys herself in an attempt to achieve perfection.
What positive stereotype do these protagonists possess and explain how these pose as a threat to the status quote heteronormative/patriarchal culture?
Nina has high ambitions. Nina works very hard, putting in hours of rehearsal. Thomas, a narcissist, made life difficult for her. Thomas uses psychological and sexual abuse to get what he wanted. Thomas feels Nina lacks passion for the leading role. This doesn’t stop Nina to continue and push herself. Thomas gives her a lot of pressure and she’s very affected by that. Nina gets the role and embraces it, but Nina sacrifices everything for success, even having to deal with Thomas' demands and sexual aggressive behavior. On top of that, her mother belittled her and was jealous. There was also jealousy and envy with the other dancers. Nina stableness as a young actress looking for perfection, eventually made her mentally collapse. Nina’s destroys her body and life just to be perfect. Ambition pushes her to the breaking point.
Frida was a rebel. Frida was bisexual and had multiple affairs with both men and women throughout her marriage. Frida made no apologies or excuses for her sexual choices. This was a bold act for the time. When Frida told Diego she had an affair with Leon Trotsky, he was upset. Frida got him back for sleeping with her sister. Diego felt threatened and disappointed. Diego was jealous of her male friends. Frida defied gender stereotypes. Frida looks masculine and dresses like a man. Frida's public bisexuality was something she was not ashamed of. Frida’s paintings tackle infertility, gender equality, miscarriages, heartbreak and sickness.  Frida accepted who she was and being original are essential lessons we learn.
These characters endure experience that draw the line between “real sexism” and “harmless” behavior which are often at the core of criticisms leveled at feminist or activists like those in the #me too movement is a futile exercise and, more importantly, one that misses the source of the problem.  It is benevolently sexist behaviors like playing knights in shining armor that allow men to subtly reinforce traditional gender roles without being perceived as sexist by themselves or others.  Explain how the protagonists dealt with this behavior from their male counterparts.
Nina has to deal with Thomas, the director psycho sexual attachment.  Thomas uses psychology and sexual abuse to get what he wants.  Nina was tortured in the form of the sexual advances made by Thomas.  Thomas uses his own body against her to force her to find her strength to play the evil and seductive Black Swan.  Thomas feel there’s no other way to get the performance out.  In doing this, he sexually humiliated her publicly.  Nina wants the role so badly, she will do anything to get it.  In the Black Swan, Thomas knows Nina is vulnerable and took advantage of his position.
Frida, a feminist and a revolutionary artist in the 1900s, was an active communist in a time where women had few rights.  Men were seen as the dominant sex and women were expected to be housewives and bear children.  Diego supported Frida in her involvement as a revolutionary because he too was actively involved.  They would often go together to march for equality.  Frida was also open in her sexuality and would often have sexual encounters with Diego’s other women.  This did not bother him except for when she would sleep with other men, this made him jeolous.  Frida would portray her depression of Diego’s betrayal through her paintings.
