thinking about fear and hunger 1 again and enki’s s ending is just the cuntiest anyone has ever looked. look at this fucking diva i can’t

fear and hunger lore speculation rambling

so i’ve been replaying fear and hunger termina and i got ending A the other day (the logic one) and the lore implications of that ending are fascinating.

like it’s heavily implied (or maybe directly stated idk) that for a human to like really ascend to old god levels of power an old god has to die, like with the god of the depths dying when the god of fear and hunger is created, but if that’s the case then which old god died so logic could ascend?

like i think the game implies it’s vinushka, since the unedited version of her book you can find says humanity killed her, but that has to have been a long ass time ago since that book is by enki and is writing about stuff in the past relative to the author. so like vinushka is long dead by the time of the events in termina. so bc it’s probably not her, the other likely old god is rher since the ending stops the moonscorching, but from what i’ve seen there’s nothing in the game that implies the logic project was intending to do that

so, here’s my theory

firstly, here are the (human) gods we know that have actually ascended past the new gods and rival the power of the old gods

1) all-mer - supposedly he ascended in ma'habre like the new gods, making himself a god and creating the sulfur god in the process, but we know he surpassed the limitations that ascending in ma'habre usually imposes on the new gods so that probably isn’t true. we also know he’s roughly equal to vinushka in power

2) the god of fear and hunger - ascended at the end of the first game partly due to the death of the god of the depths

3) logic - ????

so my thought is that all-mer ascended through the death of vinushka and that’s what allowed him to surpass the new gods. it also explains why she has supposedly been dead for so long

my other thought is that logic isn’t a new figure, she’s a further change humanity are doing to increase the power of all-mer/the sulfur god.

evidence for this:

the giant statue at the altar of the one god, located in mausoleum alley behind the church of all-mer

this does not look like any of the other statues of all-mer we have seen, but you know what it kind of does look like?

logic!! the cube in the first picture of logic also has a crossed out vinushka symbol, which would again imply that the logic project had a hand in vinushka’s death, but this doesn’t line up with the fact that vinushka died a long time ago. BUT if vinushka died to create all-mer, and if logic is another push for further ascension for all-mer/the sulfur god, then in a way the death of vinushka is still tied into logic’s ascension! i think it’s also possible that the logic project was working with just the sulfur god half and not the all-mer half, given that the cult of the sulfur god has a big presence in prehevil where the logic project is based.

idk i know there are holes in this theory for sure but i think it makes sense as a possible explanation
