The Mission: Impossible movies are so fun because they're spy-based action movies so you figure the main character is going to be this big macho tough guy and then you watch the movies and he's just this sad wet kitten who doesn't want his friends to die

funniest part of mission impossible was ethan continuously kicking a guy in the head as he told him he spends too much time on the internet

Not done talking actually. It's fucking insane that Mi1 is basically Ethan Hunt's tragic backstory. Not only did he lose all of the people closest to him, including the man who mentored him and became his father figure when he lost his dad, but he was also led on and used and betrayed by the one friend he though he had left. and despite all of that he STILL loves and trusts and cares about people with his WHOLE HEART. Despite how much pain the people in the past whom he had trusted put him through. Instead of saying "this is never going to happen to me again" and shutting down his heart, this sunshine babyboy said "this is never going to happen to ANYONE ELSE again" and opened UP his heart. INSANE thing to do, ESPECIALLY for a FUCKING SUPERSPY. YOU SEE WHY I'M OBSESSED WITH HIM NOW??!!! DO YOU SEE IT?!?! THIS WISCONSIN TWINK WITH A FINE ASS WHO YOU'D THINK IS A CUT AND PASTE ACTION HERO IS ACTUALLY SUCH AN INSANELY DEEP AND MEANINGFUL CHARACTER. I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM AAAAAAAAAAAA

Keep seeing action movies where the hero is cocky and arrogant and outspoken and everytime he meets a woman or a tech guy they have to prove their worth to him and he wins every time and for some reason, we’re supposed to root for these heroes, even find them attractive.

And then along comes Ethan Hunt, who is kind and gentle even with strangers, who wants to save the whole world but especially his friends, respects the women and tech guys and basically everyone who isn’t some kind of management, is very intelligent; quite often does quite badly in a fight, is always really surprised when his crazy stunt wins and would die for you ten minutes after he met you.

He’s the one we all adore and yet movies keep giving us heroes of the type, not the second.
