Now that I’ve graduated, I finally have time to try and get back into art!

NOTE: one type of fold will rarely appear on its own - they interact with each other quite a bit! for example, spiral folds might define the outline of a pant leg, while the interior folds might be zig-zag folds.

i’m trying to re-learn how to draw clothing, so i made this little guide to the most common shapes of folds that appear. hope it helps someone else too!

Just a quick tip to artists

If you’re an artist who likes to work really close, (like me), do yourself a favor and put up two views. You can do this by clicking View–> New on your toolbar.

There’s nothing worse than finally zooming out and realizing what you were doing was very wrong. This saved me a lot of grief tbh. I’m sure everyone knows this already but ._.;; I arrived quite late to that party.

shading colour tips

hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty

rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD. 

red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple

orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red

yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach

green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal

blue- shade with purple

purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)

pink- darker shade of red

white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol

grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)

brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red

aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!

Okay, so I decided to start a redraw thing because I have some really bad doodles from high school that I want to improve upon. Honestly, I was planning on making them nicely detailed and side by side, but let’s face it. I’m depressed, I’m tired, I just want to have a drink and take a nap. There’s been a lot more homework this semester than there has been so far in all of my previous semesters of college. I dunno if you guys are all that interested in seeing redraws and comparisons— maybe even drawings that I planned but never finished. Definitely let me know!

No way you're in Italy that's so cool and what are you talking about I see the real difference you've improved quite a lot and I'm so jealous of you I can't draw eyes to save my life keep up the good work :-D

Jenny: You say you’re jealous, but believe me I can’t really draw either. We’ll both have to work at it, ne? And yep, I’m in Italy for study abroad! There’s an art school here, and let me just say that the workload is pretty crazy...
