Welcome to my blog!
I started this blog, because of “love at first read”. Many of you reading, familiar with my Lobo blog probably know that I’m not a long time comic reader. I feel like I’m still discovering my fandom, and figuring out my niche if you will in the vast (and sometimes overwhelming) world of comics. Over the past year, or so I have become sort of detatched from the rock stars of comics: Batman, Superman, Captain America, Thor, etc… These characters just don’t resonate with me, like they would some one else. So lately I’ve taken to letting go of these characters, and looking elsewhere to find a character that could help me truly enjoy comics again…
Enter All Star Section Eight. I initially blew off Hitman when I first came across him. In trying to find a character/title/team I know I have to let go of narrow mindedness, and give new things a try. Ironically All Star did not feel new to me at all, in fact, what I discovered in the first three books of this mini series is that I have another home in the pages of Garth Ennis and John Mcrea’s time at DC. This title has a tone so much like Alan Grant on Lobo, or the Demon. (Coincidentally Ennis was on the Demon as well) Era’s of those characters I started reading comics on, and a big reason for why I’m such a comic junkie these days. I’ve purchased a couple early appearences of Hitman as well, and much like the current spin off mini series, I fell in love.
I plan on doing a post on the mini series after it’s all been released, so I don’t want to write too much right now. I know in the world of blogging, it is better to have knowledge of what you’re blogging about. I admit, I don’t know much about these characters, but I don’t think it matters; however, over time I plan on diving into the world of Tommy Monaghan, and his quirky cast of F-list misfits, and blog about my experience along the way.

Maybe we're one step closer to the character not being lost forever. Matt Ryan plays him phenomenally

This is awesome news, considering I really enjoyed his take on the character, even if the show itself had some downfalls. Maybe this will expose a more adept crowd to a character they'll probably enjoy.

None of our typical Dark Universe titles, but Vertigo is where strange things happen, so these could prove to be promising.

I was thoroughly disappointed with the Convergence: Swamp Thing tie-ins. Not that I don't enjoy volume 1 Swampy. I do. I own it all. But Len's pacing wasn't a great fit, for a two issue tie-in. Will he have more success in something a bit longer? Only time will tell. Any Swamp Thing is better than no Swamp Thing, I suppose.

Welcome To Dark Universe
Hey guys, This is Brandon from It's A Bird! It's A Plane! and I'm extremely excited to be able to finally open this blog. My favorite superhero of all time is Swamp Thing, hands down. In my Top 10 are also heroes like Constantine and Deadman, so blogging about the Justice League Dark / Dark Universe at DC Comics only makes sense. If you're familiar with IABIAP, then you can know what to expect for the JLDU blog as well. Simply put, I've lost touch with some of the very reasons I love comics. I would not be a collector or fan if it wasn't for books like Swamp Thing and Deadman. I want to reconnect with my own Fandom, and hopefully connect with more people out there. Everyone isn't a Superman fan. So without further adu, welcome to the Dark Universe
