I really like this song! Lu Guang usually gets the more dramatic and heartfelt lines, but when Cheng Xiaoshi gets his time to shine, he fucking SHINES. For context, I believe this takes place after the earthquake, once Chen Xiao's mother dies. In this song, Cheng Xiaoshi addresses his mother. I'll be working on M3 You Can Forget About It next!

KEY: Cheng Xiaoshi, Cheng Xiaoshi’s mom (or chen xiao’s mom? I haven’t seen the actual musical so i can’t really tell. this is my educated guess based on the lyrics lol)

那些你数落的话还在耳边 - But I can still hear your scolding in my ears

怎么温情的画面转眼不见 - How do such warm memories disappear so quickly?

(转眼不见 literally means, “to disappear in the blink of an eye”.)

看你皱眉想起她的眼尾 - Seeing your frown reminds me of the corners of her eyes 

(the pronoun “you” refers to cheng xiaoshi’s mother for the entire song EXCEPT for these two lines, which i believe are addressed to chen xiao’s mother. on a different note, these lyrics use a really weird phrase that i’ve never heard of. “眼尾” literally translates to “the corner of the eye” so i believe he could be talking about smile wrinkles? the more accurate/commonly used phrase to describe smile wrinkles would be “鱼尾纹” though. it literally translates to “fish tail wrinkles” because the shape of an eye is similar to that of a fish, so the corner of your eye would be the fish’s tail :D)

若有机会也想和她斗嘴 - If I had the chance, I’d like to argue with her, as well

Okay, I SO lied in my last post, I was listening to the soundtrack and realized how INSANE these lyrics are, soooo I had to get them translated!! This song illustrates my favorite parts of the earthquake arc so well. I love the way Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi clash over their ideals and the strains that this conflict puts on their friendship. The way they argue through the lyrics---*chefs kiss*. Enjoy! (Oh, and for reference, this song takes place right before the earthquake occurs. Lu Guang is currently trying to talk Cheng Xiaoshi out of saving the villagers.) KEY: Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang, both, (translator notes)

危险---潜藏暗处的危险 - Danger—it lurks in the dark

时间---迫在眉睫的时间 - Time—the time is imminent

(“迫在眉睫” is an idiom that literally translates to “pressing under one’s eyebrows”. it describes something that is so imminent, it’s literally under your nose, or in this case, under your eyebrows.)

结点---我必须赶在死神降临之前帮助他们脱险 - The node—I must help them escape danger before death comes 

危险---只是历史在重演 - Danger—it’s just history repeating itself

时间---都已完结的从前 - Time—this is history that has already come to pass

结点---死亡是你预知未来也无法去撼动的结点 - The node—death is a node that you cannot change, regardless of whether or not you can predict the future

DIALOGUE TRANSLATION: (fun fact: the bgm used here is the same melody as what lu guang sings during the dialogue scenes of rewind time :>) Chen Xiao (CXS): There’s going to be an earthquake…there’s going to be an earthquake! Everyone’s going to die!! Various villagers: “There’s going to be an earthquake?” “Where did you hear that?” “Son, it’s so late, where are you going?” (this is chen xiao’s mom.) Lu Guang: Do you see what’s happening? Nobody’s going to believe you.

(i didn’t really know how to translate this, but basically cheng xiaoshi is arguing that, well, he’s here NOW and his emotions are REAL. and so are the emotions of the villagers. despite it being the past, lu guang can’t just disregard that. I LOVE THIS BTW GO OFF KING)

(this more directly translates to "a distance you cannot bridge the gap between".)

This one was a lot of fun! Definitely a bit more challenging, as this one seems to be a lot less straightforward than Rewind Time. Lu Guang's lyrics still go hard though :'). For context, the musical takes place during the earthquake arc, so a lot of the lyrics in this song refer to those events and the strains they put on Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi's friendship. (Also reminder that anyone is free to give song requests!!
