Jeremy who molds himself into whatever people want because if he’s not new and fresh and fun and whatever they want then he is nothing. It’s why he brought the coke to the party. It’s why he services. It’s why he lets his family and his hookups and the Trojans’ rules call the shots . Because as long as he is who people want him to be he will be liked. But it is never all of him. And that’s on purpose too. No one wants to see Jeremy Knox’s ugly face rear it’s head.

But then there is Jean who is somehow everything at once and liked for it. He is bitter and biting but he is kind. He is easy on the eyes. He is an excellent player and a good man. And maybe Jeremy finds his attitude amusing because Jeremy himself cannot be as free with his words. With himself . “He didn’t want Jean to like this side of him” because who ever had? His family wanted him clean cut and boring, the Trojans wanted him sweet to the point of ache. And Jeremy is sweet. But he is also biting and he has forcibly cut pieces of himself out with a knife and some of them maybe needed to go but he is bleeding out. “There you are” but where Leo said it with hungry satisfaction Jean only sounded curious. Because everyone only sees pieces of Jeremy and wants slices of him catered to their tastes .
