because this is going around again, I’d like to add something for awareness because until I did some work in the mental health field I had no idea about this statistic: in the U.S., the risk of being killed during a police incident is 16 times greater for individuals with untreated mental illness than for other civilians approached or stopped by officers. with this in mind, please make calling the police your absolute LAST resort in all cases, but especially in situations involving someone who may be experiencing mental illness. in multiple cases police officers have killed the individual they were sent to do a wellness/welfare check on, suggesting that when a person may be suicidal police intervention can be the OPPOSITE of a life-saving measure. 

instead, consider contacting a local resource from this database of vetted alternatives for specific issues if your city is represented: https://dontcallthepolice.com/ or search for mental health emergency response hotlines that operate in your area.

although its fun to talk and joke about, now more than ever its really important to understand that fc5 is, on a base level, cop propaganda that has you commit acts of police brutality for rewards. you can make a million arguments about how there’s a deeper message or its justified, but the fact is you play as a cop and you kill people. understanding how that effects us and our views on real-life acts of police violence is essential to ensuring being black in America (and in many other countries) isn’t a death sentence. HERE is a document full of links to donate to organizations fighting for an end to police brutality, please contribute if you’re able.
