Tb to 2012 when I wore my Mac graphic so much that it got tattered and had to be thrown away. Malcolm, thank you for getting me through High School and making them all the best day ever through your music👍🏽

Artists I’ve Been Bumping Nonstop In January
The beginning of every year never fails to bring the sense of a new start-to forget all the old negative shit from the past in hopes to make room for all the potential good vibes for 2018 and I was no exception to this rule. Eloquent jazz melodies and pop music dominated my Spotify playlist this month, sounds that are very new and different from my usual preferred surf rock and hip hop bops, so I thought i’d tell you about a couple of my faves
Rex Orange County- Apricot Princess

My day cannot be complete unless I play this album at least once. Although a lot of the songs are included with melancholy lyrics there’s such a relatable feel to them with optimistic undertones and a upbeat pop/jazz sound. Very similar to Amy Winehouse in my opinion. I first heard his angelic voice featuring on a few tracks on Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy and have been hooked ever since. If you love falling in and out of love, then this is the album for you. But be warned, a semi-unhealthy obsession for the Brit native Alex O’Conner’s song writing abilities is highly possible while listening. Say goodbye to your sleeping habits because you will spending your nights binge watching his music videos and interviews on youtube.

Kamasi Washington-Harmony of Difference

Words cannot express how impeccable this EP is to me. An absolute spiritual experience start to finish. Every time I listen to this I feel the urge to take a stroll outside and appreciate the beauty of nature and the feel of the warm sun on my skin. It was originally written for the Whitney Museum of Art Biennial celebration. The American saxophonist described the 6 track piece as "the art of balancing similarity and difference to create harmony between separate melodies", and boy does it deliver. Coming from someone who never really dabbled the beauty that is jazz music, listening to this will give an entirely new appreciation to the genre and understanding on how influential it is for all types of music.
Favorite track- Truth
Benny Sings-Studio

I freaking live for the modern day funk/80′s vibe that this album has. I can't help but to want to bust some movies to every single track. I was graced with this gem while listening to my discover weekly playlist (thank you spotify) a few months ago so although i’m a little late in the game when it comes to this Dutch artist’s pop dance hits, i’m definitley making up for lost time. If you need anything to workout to while preparing for your 2018 beach bod, strap on that leotard and knee warmers because this is a winner for sure.
