[REVIEW] Kailijumei Summer Simplicity Lipstick (03 Orange)

I received an email from Amabie.com (a beauty community) asking if I wanted to try out the “insta-famous” flower lipsticks and I did not hesitate at all! Fast-forward a few weeks later and I had the coveted lipstick in my hands. Amabie were nice enough to include two face mask sheets!

From my understanding, these lipsticks are a Summer edition, hence the different packaging and price range compared to the original one (which has gold specks).

★ Product description (from packaging) ★ : *their English, not mine. This product nourish and moisturize your lips, thus keeping your lips soft and moist, with fresh and pleasant fragrance. Besides, it can protect your lips from oxidation factor (such as sun exposure, stress, environment pollution), to avoid dim and dark lips, and let it retain its brightness and shine. And keeps the lips from melting and fading for a whole day.

★ Pros ★ :

Surprisingly moisturising: This lipstick is very moisturising, the texture is almost like a lip balm.

Lasting pigmentation: The pigmentation actually lasts me an entire day! I have read that it doesn’t last as long for some users but for me, the pink tone is still visible even after eating. I guess this will vary from person to person.

Interesting concept: The flower in the middle is a very unique/aesthetic touch, however, I do question if it has any true benefit.

★ Cons ★ :

Unpleasant scent/taste: I honestly hated the scent/taste of this lipstick! It is very waxy and has this strange plastic taste. Even if I don’t lick my lips, the scent is so strong that I feel as if I am eating it... It goes away after a while but upon application, it is very off-putting.

The plastic packaging: I am not a fan of the packaging, but that is probably because I have been spoilt by Korean brands (bless their packaging).

★ Verdict ★ :

Overall, I find this product to be just all about the Instagram hype. I understand that the uniqueness comes from having the flower in the lipstick but at the end of the day, it is just for aesthetics. The formula of the lipstick is very basic, almost like a tinted lip balm. Even though the pigmentation and moisture level surpassed my expectations, the unpleasant scent has outweighed the other qualities. Maybe, I will have a different opinion of the range if I test out the original lipstick.  If you have some money to spare and an Instagram feed to update, this could be the product you need.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam

After having much success with the Innisfree volcanic clay masks (reviewed here & here) I decided to purchase the cleansing foam “with scoria and green complex” that “purify pores and leave skin dull-looking (?)”  

I was in need of a new cleanser and Innisfree was an obvious choice because my skin works really well with their products! :D

I decided to get this particular cleanser because it contains micro-beads for gentle exfoliation that is perfect for everyday use. The texture is creamy and easily foams up so there is no need to be hesitant about the harshness of the beads. I was afraid that I would get this sheen/residue after washing off the product like I did with the (Innisfree Green Tea Pure Cleansing Foam) but thankfully I didn’t! My skin feels soft and clean afterwards but I can’t really tell if it purifies my pores. 

I have a lot of dead skin cells so the micro-beads seriously help! My mum has also been using this cleanser with me and she really likes it!~ What really surprised me was the pleasant smell! I can’t really pinpoint what it smells like but it’s fresh and I really like it! Too many exclamation marks, sorry… LOL

I was very surprised when I saw that this cleanser had quite a few triggers! I have acne-prone skin but I did not experience any break-outs or irritation with this cleanser. However, those with sensitive and acne-prone skin should take caution when considering this cleanser.

★ Verdict ★ : Overall, I really like this cleansing foam! I use it after my make-up remover and it doesn’t dry out my skin at all~ This cleanser would be great for those with oily skin or those who wear a lot of make-up on a regular basis. The scent is amazing and I can’t get enough of it! I don’t think it helps in treating my acne but that’s not why I bought the cleanser for in the first place so I am satisfied with its performance. ^.^

For this week’s edition of WIWW, I decided to focus on a particular brand that has sparked my interest. COSRX is a Korean beauty brand that has a lot of products targeted towards individuals with troubled skin! I have seen COSRX on Jolse.com for a while but I wasn’t sure how good the products would be until I watched Joan’s [massive COSRX haul]. I was instantly interested in trying some of the products that she recommended. I have already ordered 3 products from the list below from Jolse when there was a sale, so I’m pretty excited to test them out soon!
