‪This is the story of my life. Working a sales job is a constant grind trying to turn an interaction into a sales pitch. When I go home, I am working on J Torrey Media.

I always try to not post pictures of myself on my accounts because I am trying to show off my own work, but this is the one exception to that. 

I have recently gone through some struggles with my career path. I applied to the radio station that I worked at during college. I was there for three years, and I received a degree from the same school. With that being said, I should be a shoe-in, right?

I graduated from college in 2017. Since then, I have not touched my degree in the slightest. I have worked in retail and finance, but I have never touched Digital Media. 

This was my opportunity to finally get back to the field that I loved. The career path that I have chosen and that I dedicated 4 years of my life to studying. This could finally be the moment that I have been working so hard for!

I think you can see where this is going. I did not even get an interview. not even a chance to show them how much I have grown and how much I have expanded my horizons. My life does not revolve around sports as much as it did 2 years ago. 

This is why I decided to start J. Torrey Media. I am sick of getting rejection emails from companies saying I do not “have enough experience.” I am sick of getting psyched up about a job that I think I could be a perfect fit for, but then the rug gets pulled out from under me. 

I am taking this as my final rejection email for a broadcasting job. I am going into Digital Media and I am controlling my own career path! I have been reading Gary Vaynerchuck’s book, “Crush It,” which has been my motivation for this new venture. Stay tuned because this page is about to get lit!!

Through my college years, I was a sound producer, and editor, a cameraman, and even an on-screen talent. During my last semester I was able to try my hand at directing a short film. This should have been posted a while ago. Leave a comment and give me some feedback on what I could do differently. How to become a Snapchat Pro!

The article that I selected was about ten tips on how to get better with Snapchat. I was talking with a coworker of mine, and he said he was not really into Snapchatting because it was too confusing for him. I told him that it is confusing at the start, but as time goes on, it gets easier to navigate. When you get the hang of it, Snapchat is fun to use.

Social Media’s Effect on Technology

When it comes to communicating on social media, there are not many platforms as widely used as Snapchat. Snapchat has 160 million daily active users while only Facebook and Instagram have more users per day. Facebook has over one billion daily users, and Instagram has three hundred million daily users. Social media is growing very quickly in popularity around the world. When these social media platforms release updates for their apps, the update usually requires the latest software which means the customers want to get the latest technology. After my last phone died on me, I was trying to find a phone that can handle everything that I do on it. When I buy a phone, I need to make sure that it can handle constant use of Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and all my other apps.

How Social Media Builds Relationships and Conversations

With social media and all the apps that come with it, we have the whole world in our pockets! If we do not have someone saved in our phone contacts, we have access to them through Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media application. In my opinion, social media has a negative effect on building relationships. It is keeping us from having a normal conversation with friends because we are all glued to our phones. I used to remember when people’s birthdays are, but I only know someone’s birthday because Facebook reminds me of when it is.

I am not going to say that social media terrible because I use it constantly. I invite people into what is going on in my life when I post on Facebook or Twitter. They might not even be interested in what is going on, but I want to post on social media just to let people know that I am still alive and well.

How Do I Feel About the Ideas?

I know this blog post drifted away from what the article itself was about, but I feel like I needed to talk about all social media instead of only one platform. I use Snapchat more than any other social media platform. I am a constant user of Snapchat; I use it even more than I text because I have so much fun with it. I would not call myself a Snapchat “Pro,” but I use almost all the tips that were mentioned in the article. I use it for fun, but I learn more about it every day.
