Good day! Today’s lesson I’ve learned about Focusing on the Psychological Health, on how to take care of yourself and how to maintain a health mind and body. According to Carl Rogers “The good life is a process... It is a direction, not a destination.” Absolutely, our good life is based on how we react on it, on what direction or path we take because our lives do not depend on our destination, it’s our direction. Psychological well-being is influenced by self-actualization. There are 6 facets of psychological well-being by Carlo Ryff: Self acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth. Self acceptance is the best thing to do for our self because this is the way to be a healthy person that we can accept our self in positive or negative way. Our mental health have factors that can affect and one of these is bullying. Bullying Behavior has 2 components: Imbalance of power it is the bullies use their power such as physical strength and knowledge. Repetition often happens in varying intensity. Also, there are 3 types of Bullying verbal bullying, social bullying, and physical bullying. I already experienced these type of bullying and it is hard to get off because it can affect your self-esteem and self confidence. If you experienced this be a responsible adolescent and don’t let others experience it. This is part of our life but learn to surpass this kind of problem. Always remember that if you have healthy mind, you also have a healthy body.

In today's lesson I've learned to how powerful our brain is. Brain is the most useful because this is the part that can understand and controls speech, reasoning, learning, emotional control and memory. According to Frederick Tilney, "Brain is considered to be the master organ of the body, the regulator of life, the source of human progress." I've learned the parts of the brain forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. The four lobes of the brain; Frontal lobe that is responsible for the higher level thinking like problem solving and learning. Parietal lobe integrates sensory data like touch and pain. Temporal lobe it process auditory signals and information. Lastly, occipital lobe it's job is to visual information like colors and movements. Brain has many functions it can make a person to think. I've learned about brain dominance and mind mapping I and brain dominance and mind mapping II. I've learned their functions and purposes.

In every day there's a lesson. According to Hans Selye, "It's not stress that kill us; It's our reaction to it." Stress is part our life, it is only a challenge for us to be a better person on handling different situations. Stress has sources and effects and it has different kinds of stress such as acute stress, episodic acute stress, and chronic stress. Also, there is positive and negative stress where it can be motivate us or it can be exhaustion. When you are in the way of adolescence you have many challenges and changes and it is no surprise then that you may encounter stress. Life is not unfair it is based on how you react on your stress or how you make yourself get off of that stress. As an adolescent there are different sources of stress such as social pressure, family relationships, academic pressure, and self-doubt. You need to be observant to cope up this kind of stress and always go to positive way. Also, sign of physical stress such as constant fatigue and weight changes, sign of cognitive stress such as lack of focus, forgetfulness, and negative thoughts, and lastly sign of emotional/behavioral stress such as burnout, strain relationship, and increase anger. Stress can make us in depression but if there's a problem there's always a solution you only need to cope up and fight of what you feel, always be positive and always move forward.

There are so many things that we do in our childhood days but we can't do in our adulthood days because we are in a part of maturity and learning to be responsible. We have a developmental task where we can apply for us to be able to prepare in our responsibilities as an adolescent. I learned about Roles of peers in adolescence that we can apply it to make us socialize in other people. In our life, we cannot avoid to compare ourself to others especially our appearance and abilities. Social Comparison Theory one of the foundations of Leon Festinger's believes that humans have the innate tendency to evaluate themselves in various aspects of their lives. And it has 2 ways of comparing the upward and downward. Upward is comparing self to someone better and it's good because you can have a motivation to be better and to improve yourself. Downward is comparing self to someone worse and this time it is bad for you because you can influence yourself that you shouldn't go beyond because there's someone worst than you. Also, when you compare it's always have an effect of peer social comparison and it can cause low of confidence. Always remember that you are unique, that we are not perfect and we have flaws.

Fetus to baby to young and to adult and that is called Adolescence where the person develops their ability and personality. As we grow there’s so much change in our life especially in our mental and physical appearance. As Nathaniel Branden said, “The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance”. Yes, the first thing to do to make a change is awareness for us to be informed what will happen in the way of our changing. There are so many things might change maybe our personality because we must learn to adjust to make a difference. And second is acceptance, where we are willing to accept anything that comes our way whether it is good or bad. We are ready of what will happen to us. Acceptance is the key to our success in achieving change and it is the only way to fulfill our goals. According to Havighurst, “The goal is for you to successfully strive on fulfilling your task to be happier and contented in your life”. It’s true, we feel contented when we already finish our goal because we are satisfied on what we’ll have on that day.

Today's lesson I've learned to be mindful with myself and I should take care and value it. In the quote of Jay Woodman, "In every atom, there is a reflection of the whole" because even though it is so small there will be always a value to whole. Appreciate all things that you have and take good care of it. I learned about holistic development, cognitive development, social and emotional development and spiritual development. Holism is the tendency in nature to form wholes which are greater than the sum of the parts and cognition is the process of knowing. There are also the elements of attitudes; Cognitive that is made up of knowledge, affective that is made up of emotional responses and lastly behavioral which is manner. There are some steps on how to take care of our body to be healthy, how to handle things and practice healthy lifestyle. Also, the differences between emotion and feelings on how we define both of them. Spiritual development where we can discover experience in our inner guide that steers in our values and beliefs. Always be mindful, take care, and value yourself because you are the one who can do it.

There’s a lot of lesson I’ve learned in today’s discussion. We know ourself better than others, we have our own perception and awareness. Self-concept is a perception of yourself or should I say everything that you know about yourself and how you define and understand yourself as a multi-dimensional (physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and moral) human being. There are three essential components; Physical characteristic describes on how you look in either negative or positive way like “I am tall” or “I am skinny”. Personal traits used to describe your behavior like “I am good”. Lastly, Social Identity refer to the where group you belong like “I am a daughter of Maria”. By this lesson I learned more about myself, on how I deal with other people and how to react when they have an opinion about me either positive or negative thought. I have a luck of Self-efficacy because I have no confidence at all but I realized that I should try because there’s no hard things when I have a confidence to myself. We also have Self-worthy where we have a value to ourself, we should put in our mind that we are worthy to be love, care, and all. We should not let others disrespect us and also we should not compare ourself to others because we have our own uniqueness. We should have a Self-awareness not just regarding traits and characteristics but to be able to know our inner state and how we think and it is the ability to know ourself extensively. We must attempt to be non- judgmental and unbiased in assessing or understanding ourself we should accept the opinions of others either it’s positive or not. There are steps to achieve self aware but first we should know ourself better.
