He does loves her

Quotes from Moana 1 and Moana 2 Jr Novel
Posting this because I’m surprised to see a lot of people really underestimate and undermining how much Moana matters a lot to Maui at the tail end of Moana 1 (ngl I kinda did as well).
Their (platonic!) love story really isn’t any different from your usual (romantic) story between two leads or a princess with their prince the only difference is they didn’t snog, nobody is questioning whether Kristoff genuinely loves Anna or not despite only spending probably 4 days around each other

Things that bothered me about Moana 2.
I love the second Moana movie (much more than the first). But there are some things that bother me a bit, and I hope the third movie makes up for them.
One of the best decisions in the second movie, in my opinion, is the crew! Thank you!!! In the first Moana, from the moment Moana leaves Motunie, only she and Maui were the intelligent, speaking characters (apart from the brief appearance of Tamatoar and Tala) that you had to deal with.
The crew is a bunch of funny, quirky people who lighten things up a bit and help give situations new momentum and direction. Almost everyone in the crew develops noticeably and has their own strong moments. But it would have been really nice if the newcomers had proven themselves on their own. One discarded scene was the confrontation between the crew (not Moana or Maui) and a two-headed monster bird.
In this scene, the crew manages to escape on their own and make the canoe seaworthy again. Unfortunately, this scene, along with several others, was changed and shortened. Now the crew only finds Maui, who rescues them and brings them back to Moana…
Kotu seems a bit forced to me.
He, too, develops and goes from a hater of humans (who doesn't trust humans) to a friend and companion. But he's not really useful…
Before the attack scene upon reaching Nalo's Sea was changed, Kotu, along with Maui, protected everyone and helped save Moana. At the end, in the final film, he was only really useful this one time:
Too bad. It's questionable whether he'll return in the third film.
Maui's Power!
It's always said that Disney wants to portray Maui as larger than life and powerful, but to me, he seems rather clumsy and sometimes awkward.
Don't get me wrong. Maui undergoes a tremendous development from the first to the second film, but you rarely see him shine (xP).
When he fights, you don't really see him, and when he does… he's not successful…
You see: Maui vs. Tamator / Tamator wins and would have killed him without Moana Maui vs. Te Ka / Te Ka wins and would have killed him without Moana Maui vs. Nalo / … Maui was lucky not to end up as a roast chicken.
The only moment where you get a sense of his true power is when he captures the sun to raise Motufitu.
In scenes that were edited or changed: He could hear Motufitu calling him when the two were separated for ages. He clearly held his own in a fight with several giant monsters and launched an incredible rescue mission when Moana was being devoured.
Please, Disney, show us where his immense self-confidence comes from.
As I said at the beginning, I love the movie, but it would have been cool if things had been a little different in the movie.
Oh yeah, and…
THEY SHOULD HAVE HUGGED EACH OTHER IN THAT SITUATION!!!

Thank you, Maui!
Thank you for teaching me how to be a sailor. Now I can follow my passion.

That you have become my friend, someone I can rely on!

For the courage you gave me back when I felt lost.

I'm so sorry for causing you so much worry. That wasn't my intention, I was worried about you too.

It was your feelings that called the ancestors and showed me the way back. These strong feelings…

So, these new powers have awakened within me. A new me!

Thank you, Maui! Without you, I would never have become who I am today.

What will become of Moana at the end of the third film?
At the end of the second, Moana becomes a demigod, but do you think that's the case at the end of the third?

Yup, I think it's great that they say she's taller in the second film, but you just can't estimate how tall anyone is.
Its funny how people often exaggerates Moana and Maui’s height difference (even disney does it sometimes)
Saying she doesn’t even reach the top half of his chest, when her eye level hits his neck/chin
