We, Filipinos, really loves to eat. Nowadays, we normally consumed five-plate meals a day. Filipinos donโ€™t usually skip meals especially when they have spare time to eat. We have that habit where we used to pack lunch to save money and effort to go and buy outside.
From heating to boiling, from simply pickling to cooking, Filipinos learned how to prepare food in different ways in our own old ways and also because of those countries who colonized us for centuries. As time passes by, our delicacies improved and we had created different versions that varies in different regions across the country.
Food became a significant trademark for the Filipinos, it also take part on a lot of traditional events and occasion, weddings, feasts, and even on our daily lives. Food really means a lot and for that, here are some of our most enticing delicacies.

Morning always starts with a coffee on one hand and bread on the table, lay down and sit, thinking of what will happen this day. Coffee is a very important drink for Filipinos especially to those who wakes up early in the morning. Pandesal on the other hand, was introduced to us by the Spaniards. Pan means โ€˜breadโ€™ while Sal means โ€˜saltโ€™ therefore Pandesal means bread with salt. A single cup of coffee with bread is enough to fill your needs for the whole morning.
Bread and coffee are the usual breakfast of us especially those who have hypertension where they cannot eat too much rice for their usual meal.ย

Blog Entry #5: Mouthwatering Soups

We have different kinds of soups that we eat as viands, most of them includes sea foods, meat, and vegetable and has a mouthwatering taste. Some of them are Sinigang, Sopas, Nilaga, and Tinola. These dishes has been already cooked by our grandparents back then and even until now, though recipes became different as time passes by. Here in the Philippines, people enjoy their food more when a cup of soup is present on the table. Soups are some sort of stress reliever that warms our body, not only on cold days but also when we are tired and feeling exhausted.

Here in the Philippines, saucy foods are popular especially on festivals and birthdays. In our regular days, we also prepare these viands if we have enough time to cook, because these requires time and effort to achieve itโ€™s good taste. Most of these saucy dishes were influence of the Spaniards, recipes were adopted by the Filipinos and was passed from generations to generations. Most of the time, if we want saucy foods without releasing too much effort to cook, we tend to go and buy at the eateries where their dishes areย โ€œpangmasaโ€ or for a large amount of people who search for cheap but delicious meals.

Who wouldnโ€™t like crunches and crisps? It might be delicious yet deadly, it triggers heart disease when you eat it uncontrollably. These crisps are commonly found on parties, gatherings, and even on our daily lives. We always love to eat crispy, oily, but savory fried foods! There are countless of crunchy and crispy foods around the country, some of the best are Shanghai Rolls, Crispy Pata, Fried Chicken, and last but not the least, our very own Lechon. But a friendly reminder, just take these foods moderately so that it wonโ€™t harm your health.ย

When 3:00 pm strikes, expect that vendors are roaming to sell merienda. Merienda is a light meal between after lunch and before dinner. Nowadays, people used to eat merienda between after breakfast and before lunch because of the tiring activities that makes us digest foods and get hungry easily.
Street foods is the common merienda of us. Some people see street foods as dirty products of our country because itโ€™s not clinically approved by the government agencies but because of the practicality of us, they still sell it with cheap price. Not all vendors doesnโ€™t follow the standards, most of them asures that their products are clean even if itโ€™s not approved by the government, so thereโ€™s still a reason why we should support our own product.

Filipinos definitely love sweets! Thatโ€™s why we eat a lots of sweet foods, some of these are Halo-Halo, Banana Cue, Sagoโ€™t Gulaman, and Pastillas. Mostly, sweets are eaten for snacks during the afternoon or every after we eat our meals. Sweets reflects on our attitude and well-being as Filipinos, we tend to be sweet to our loved ones and even on foreigners and strangers. We are very welcoming and we never forget to wear smiles on our faces. These sweets also became source of income for many, remember sweets are well-loved in the country that even itโ€™s not expensive, Filipino sweets would still be classical.

Blog Entry #10: Philippinesโ€™ Enticing Delicacies, a summary.
" ๐“›๐“๐“ค๐“–๐“—๐“ฃ๐“”๐“ก ๐“ฒ๐“ผ ๐“ซ๐“ป๐“ฒ๐“ฐ๐“ฑ๐“ฝ๐“ฎ๐“ผ๐“ฝ ๐”€๐“ฑ๐“ฎ๐“ป๐“ฎ ๐“•๐“ž๐“ž๐““ ๐“ฒ๐“ผ ๐“‘๐“”๐“ข๐“ฃ."
Filipinos are food lovers, we donโ€™t just simply eat because a familyโ€™s sweetest moments are when they are eating. Our delicacies will live forever, not just because we cook everyday, but because we give a lot of importance to our traditional cuisines that we inherited from our forefathers. Food means a lot to us and it reflects our culture and tradition that we savored for centuries. Our very own dishes are world class and we should be proud of it. Yes, maybe our generation is changing and our world is slowly turning into technology and foreign influences, we should still bare in mind that we have our very own classic dishes that we can be proud of. In that way, our legacy which is our own Enticing Delicacies would be passed on the next generation and wouldnโ€™t be forgotten.
