being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

The other cause of the KOSA act

While, yes, it's evident that the MAIN reason this kosa act is cause certain governments want control over their citizens, we cannot not deny that it's also cause of purity culture. Which happens because of 2 types of parents. Those who don't want to actually parent their child, so they make it everyone else's problem, and helicopter parents that want control over every aspect of their kids lives. From the food they eat to the people they speak too, both online and off. Which leads to these entitled or lazy Karens/Steves to start demanding for censorship on every website known to man. And even the take down of porn sites.

Which, in turn, leads their own kids to become so engrossed in purity culture, that they start bashing everyone in fandom spaces, on those people's own profiles.

And yes, things like what I mentioned shortly above has been a problem for a long time, but it's something that is coming to a head now because it's no longer just an internet fandom problem. It's now a government control problem too.

Tldr: KOSA isn't just because of certain governments wanting control, it's also because of neglectful and controlling parents not properly parenting their own kids.

Honestly the worst thing about War of the Worlds 2025 is that the raw, barebones idea of "War of the Worlds viewed through a webcam" isn't actually that terrible of an idea.

Like when I hear that concept, instead of some bullshit Amazon ad with a hypocritical point about data collection and aliens that want to eat your social media like a fucking digimon, I think of like, watching the aliens invade through various social media posts. Getting progress on which territories are falling and updates on ways humanity is fighting back through social media and online news. Kinda like how the original framed itself as like radio reports on an ongoing conflict.

It's an idea I really hope this shitty fucking movie doesn't destroy. Like a similar thing of "apocalyptic events viewed through a computer screen" could work for like, a book-accurate adaption of World War Z or something like that.

War of the Worlds 2020 2025 is such a fascinating movie because it's trying to tap into a specific conspiratorial mindset that existed at the height of qanon and covid, the fears of dads that the government is putting chemicals in their kids. And yet also, it's impossible to examine those elements because the movie is just so bad that your main emotion throughout it is bafflement. This is a movie version of your uncle telling you all his Facebook beliefs but he's mixed up on the info and not a good storyteller and also he likes Amazon and Facebook so you just have to disassociate

Just watched War of the Worlds 2025.

Possibly the worst film I’ve ever seen. Every scene had product placement in it. It’s insanely pro corporations. No resemblance of the original novel (and they didn’t even take sound design from the musical!). Editing so bad it gave me a headache. No one could act.

Absolutely hilarious 10/10 would inflict on my friends.
