Thinking about my Royals AU X and Ex again. In this universe Ex is the oldest and is meant to inherit the throne, but after their parents die Ex is, by no fault of their own, exiled in his early teens. X is then brought up to be the king, but he never wanted this responsibility. It was meant to have fallen on Ex's shoulders, but after a few years of regency X is deemed old enough to rule. He immediately rescinds Ex's exile, and they show up a few years later, jaded and angry at both their past exile, and Xisuma being on the throne. Meanwhile X is just thrilled to have his sibling back, and has no clue that Ex may have ulterior motives for returning...

New headcannon that Etho's robotic eye has an HUD that tells him information. Like he looks around and he can see (if he wants) the exact distance or speed of something, or other random statistical information. He and Doc both mess around together trying to upgrade their eyes, making Doc one of the few people who's actually aware of that upgrade. Since Doc doesn't have the same HUD on his own eye (he opted for other enhancements that made more sense for his code-breaking hobbies), he sometimes asks Etho for bits of information, leading to Etho telling him exact statistics that he really shouldn't know off the top of his head. This then leads to Etho gaining a reputation as knowing more than he should (like the amount of time it takes for Tango to splat on the ground from build limit). That reputation only adds to his perceived weirdness factor, because whenever a Hermit asks how he knew something he just shrugs and wanders off, never actually answering the question.

Kinda funny that Ren and Doc were both missing the same arm back in season 8. I'm now just imagining them swapping arms/using the other's backup arm when needed. Or, alternatively, Ren waking up, reattaching his arm and leaving, then getting a call from Doc later like "Dude, you stole my arm! Come give it back!"

I just realised, I never introduced Tumblr to one of my Evil X characterizations. This version is 'Feral Office Worker Ex,' and he is exactly like he sounds. They do a variety of jobs for the server like documentation, sending update and bug reports to the devs, and sometimes taking care of the server itself. They were roped into this as a reformation tactic, and it somewhat worked. Trapped in a place where they only thing they can do is work, they eventually got bored enough to do the job. Cue a while later when they realise they're actually feeling pride about their work, and no longer want to completely destroy the server because it would render all their effort useless. Does that mean that they no longer want to destroy stuff or mess with the Hermits? No. Does it mean that they aren't still reactive or snappy? ...also no. But the reformation has worked some, much to their dismay, and their work becomes essential to the server - not that the Hermits know that. Well, up until he has to actually go to the server to do something, and has to interact with people. Then the confusion starts.

“You think I don’t know what you do to people like me?” Hels asks, pointedly not responding to the last thing the admin had said. “People like you?” Xisuma repeats, head tilting to the side again, this time genuine confusion playing across his face. “People who threaten your server.” He says, and then adds, “I’ve met your brother.”

I think perhaps ex and hels look to each other for some twisted form of comfort in the knowledge that very few people other than one of them could truly hurt the other. Like two invasive plants battling to grow until their roots and stalks become so intertwined that to remove one would mean pulling up the other.
