We’re Raising $10,000 to help @soldevelopment mix, master and push the new album. Sol creates the type of art that moves people to action! The type of art that make u remember where u come from. The type of art that pushes u to get through some of the darkest times that life can present to us. Sol is the light. The source. The real deal. They have given me some of the most important times of my life. I trust this group to tell the stories of our people. I trust them to feed us medicine and heal us through their music. This is high vibrational FIRE that needs to be of the highest quality and shared with the entire world. Let’s #DISRUPTHOPELESSNESS (at Zoo Labs)

#disrupthopelessness Lately I've been so inspired by some amazing women who we've been so lucky to work with. Mama Sharon Bailey, Mama Gwen Woods, Mama Roshumba Africa, and Mama Myra Jones: They are exceptional women who have experienced losing their sons to gun violence, some intercommunal, one by SF police. These mothers are so fuckin powerful because, in the midst of losing someone they carried for 9 months, birthed, watched turn into a toddler, a young child, a teenager and then an adult -- they still reaming hopeful. They still keep pushing. They convert their pain into passion in a way that not only benefits them and allows them to find hope in the smallest of synchronicities, but in a way that allows them to use their passion as a driving force to uphold their families, their communities and this entire world. Tomorrow @ 7pm at the Brickhouse Gallery in Oak Park, Sacramento, we are honoring our mothers, we are listening to their stories and we are immersing ourselves in the type of artistic narratives that will #disrupthopelessness. It would be absolutely amazing if you all could make it and even bring your beautiful babies and/or share the word. I think it can be hard to pick up after any kind of devastation, but when we have a community of people we can be vulnerable with, when we can hold each other together and be there for one another, then that allows of us to find true heal together. There will be healing performances by Sol Development and Mino Yanci. It would be an honor to have you all there. Link in bio. Please RSVP. (at The Brickhouse Gallery & Art Complex / OFFICIAL)

BJ McBride and I have been working on this project for some time now. It's called BE-IMAGINATIVE. We are a collection of artists, healers and community members who are dedicated to healing black and brown communities through multidimensional storytelling. Our very first healing retreat for Mothers of Color who have experienced losing children to gun violence took place in Sacramento, CA this past August. This retreat was created to give sacred space to tell, document and share our own stories of survival. Our goal is to create a safe space that includes a tight knit community who can be there for one another, share healing methods and come together to strengthen each other in the best ways that we know how to. It was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had in my life. And those who know me know that I'm pretty magical. Next Friday October 13th, we are asking you to join us for our celebrate our mothers at The Brickhouse Gallery and Arts Complex in Sacramento, where we will speak with the mother's about their experience, display our multimedia content gathered during the process and allow space to heal together through music and art with SOL Development. Thank you to our Mothers of the Egungun: Myra Jones Sharon Bailey Gwen Woods To Our Supports Team: Monifa Akosua Salina Espinosa Debra Cummings Our Artists: Taylor Grimes -Video Emily Gibson - Video Drew - Audio Nick Francis - Graphics Ayesha Walker - Photography Thank you to all of the organizations that have contributed to helping to launch this project: LIVE FREE Sacramento Urban League South Sacramento Christian Center The Brickhouse Gallery (at Brick House)
