Beyond the conflicts of interest of media outlets now being owned by larger corporations, trying to be “neutral” and/or “balanced” has resulted in a disservice to the public. When the facts are clearly on one side of an issue, as in the case of climate science and the continuously disastrous republican proposals for repealing healthcare, the media’s failure to report the facts gives their viewers a false perspective on these issues.
Cenk’s commentary and examples here are excellent.

House republicans voted to repeal Dodd-Frank, the consumer protections put in place following the 2008 recession. The vote now proceeds to the Senate.
Included in this repeal is the Volker Rule which prevented banks from gambling with depositor money. The gambles let the banks keep profits from gambling, but if they lost the bet, the losses would be put on the depositors.

Russian hacked a US company back in August to get information about voting hardware and software. The NSA believes the information they obtained was likely used to target local governments in an attempt to get private information in phishing attacks.
The NSA does not presently have any evidence that these attacks actually led to a change in the outcome of the election.

Weeks after the Comey firing, Trump has still not replaced him. Staffing across the executive branch is still lower than needed. He didn’t start filling positions until after inauguration but also it’s hard to find people who actually want to work for him, especially in the lower level positions that hold no power.

Despite saying he would “drain the swamp” in Washington, Trump is exempting his top staff from being held accountable for their responsibilities to the American public with ethics waivers. He is explicitly allowing his staff to deeply interact with their former employers for their interests.
