Seeing as it’s Thursday and I’m supposed to be “throwing back” thought I’d post another video....something I plan on doing a little more regularly....This time takes me back to May this year when I got to complete a little something off my bucket list. What an amazing experience and something I plan on doing again soon! Also, thanks to the Great British summertime for providing the perfect day for it! (at Headcorn Aerodrome (Official))

FROTHING
I begin this blog/journal in experimentation...you see for a long time now my psyche has simmered on the underside of average, often times of depression and certainly shitty moments of anxiety...but the mindful “experts” suggest that writing helps you form a deep appreciation of all the positives in your life as well as consider the negatives with clarity and logical thought. I feel that trying out this more creative release from my darker episodes is the next step in a transformation for me. If I can write things to look back on that push my focus towards gratitude rather than desperation then I am willing to give it a shot. If I can inspire others in a similar circumstance to me to realise that life is actually pretty damn great then that would be quite a sweet achievement!
I am tapping out these words from my new digs, a place I’ve wanted to call home since I was a teenager but never had the guts to tear myself away from the familiar aspects of my home town. Recently I realised that this anxiety about getting away from the familiar, getting out of my comfort zone was in fact adding to the oppressive darkness that often clouds my mind. I had to make a change, I had to make a move. Now I sit (attempting to be ‘creative’ by recalling big, meaningful words from my A level English literature days) staring out the window of the apartment at the seemingly endless horizon of the Atlantic Ocean in front of me, reminding me of what a small part of this world I really am and that its sheer magnitude alone offers me so much opportunity. In addition to this, I have often felt the ocean has incredible healing powers for my mind. How can something with so much power create so much tranquility inside me??
I don’t think there is a cure for mental conditions but awareness is on the rise, understanding is improving and help is easier to come by. I strive now to learn how to deal with the way my mind works and to share my ever-so amateur but, I like to think, valid findings with anyone thats willing to read/listen.
I already feel grateful to have stepped out of my comfort zone and challenged myself. Moving 300 miles away for some people would be nothing but for me it has inspired and stirred my soul. In 10 days I have photographed phenomenal sunsets, marvelled at the expanse of the ocean outside my window when I wake up in the morning, sparked up conversations with compete strangers and watched surfers un-knowingly sharing their waves with a school of dolphins. Not too shabby!!
In the words of Mick Dundee...”I’m off to blow the froth of a few cold ones,” in celebration of new beginnings, inspired creativity and a soul gently nudged out of slumber
Day one...signing out
